  • hahaha this is fake he uses magic you can clearly see it look closely notice he isnt wearing a strap and some how manages to play perfectly

  • pwned the competition. awesome dude :)

  • fucking sick, nice work

  • What the hell did i just hear at 0:40. Thats a killer stringskipping lick! I gotta try that out!

  • Has a huge Eric Johnson feel, very good!

  • Why did it have to stop ? :/

  • I came.

  • If you don't mind me asking, what do you run through besides your Suhr modern custom? You have such a beautiful tone here. There is a good amount of drive, enough so that you can tap with ease, but it is still very clean and pure sounding. I use suhr SSV in the neck and SSH+ in the bridge and the sound is beautiful, but i have a hard time finding a good rig or distortion to tap well without it being all muddy.

  • WELL DESERVED.

  • wow that was sweet

  • man, this is deep.

  • Der Anfang vom Solo ist unglaublich geworden :) überhaupt deine ganze improvisation ist hervorragend!! würde gerne mal mit dir proben aber dresden ist leider schon ne große entfernung :(

  • how many frets does that suhr have?

  • Really nice man :)

  • what guitar is that :.o

  • @locochupacerebros Suhr. Don't know the exact model.

  • @locochupacerebros Suhr modern man, Suhr guitars kick so much ass. Never wanna sell mine.

  • damn that has soul.

  • awesome tone

  • Great playing and feeling as always and very listenable tune! Gottardo&friends made a right choice.

  • I actually cannot find the words to describe how well this solo was made. A plethora of techniques, a coherent blending of all of them into different movements of the solo... It's basically a guitarist's wet dream. At 0:40 I was sold. Beautiful solo.

  • Havent got the words to describe the awesomeness.. Really, i just gave up after a few minutes, because it would sound so weird..

  • 0:41

  • Congrats!

  • Wooow mad props

  • reeeeeeeeespekt würde auch gerne so improvisiern können wie du

  • It is often said that space and silence defines music. Likewise, for high to be special there must be low, and for fast to be special there must be slow. Your skills are excellent, but if you would let it breathe a little once in a while (and let the guitar sing), the runs would be even more special :)

  • great practice routine ,,, where's the entry vid ?

  • Great skips! Very cool!

  • This is serious guitar playing. Nuthin' else to be said. Congrats

  • This was killer and definitely one of the top entries-Mark Varney

    Steph, keyboardist.

  • just passing through... I just love this solo, it's a guitar fans dream, a boat load of cool licks, and picking options... this one needs a guitar lesson to show how it's done!! Great job man.

  • fking awesome dude great work :D

  • wow, und das soll jemand toppen?! ;-)

nein im ernst, hammersolo! sag bloß, du hast das auch noch improvisiert?

    grüße

  • wish i could like this every time i watch it

  • Great attitude in that solo Martin. Cool hybrid picking too.

  • Love your style and discipline! Your playing reminds me of Frank Gambale but what's scary is I think your a bit better than he is! And with another 15 to 20 years of legitimate growth potential, that is flat out frightening. Very refreshing to see this caliber of play from your generation. All the best to you and keep up the hard work! Ron Gomez

  • @rosarae Hey Ron, your words are flattering me. I wish I could agreet tho ;)

    Greets,

    Martin.

  • Wow, really sick playing..

  • Very nice playing. You sound like Guthrie Govan fused with Vinnie Moore, that's a tasty combination.

  • tasty! Great solo as always Martin! flawless!

  • mate.....

  • Hi, Martin! That`s the way to do it! Lots of different techniques, loads of cleanly executed melodic lines! Time, tone, touch, technique; you got it! Best of luck!

  • this almost reminded me of petrucci at times...fantastic playing!

  • awesome!! beautiful playing, enjoyed every second of this

  • uffff amazing solo...!

  • fuck me sideways

  • Look, a Martin! :)

Lovely entry, dude! You have some absolutely delightful details going on in there, as usual. Good luck, mate! :)

  • Damn Martin! that was one satisfying minute! When did you start playing? I feel like i personally started a little late, when i was 16, gonna keep practising my Suhr though.!

  • grande Martin!!hai un grande gusto e talento..buona fortuna!!!

  • Quite tasty! One of the best, if not the best solo over this backing track.

  • 'kin ell!

  • Rifuckingdicules

  • Every time I listen to Neil Young playing a solo, two notes but, quoting Bill Hicks "coming from his fucking heart!" I, as a musician, think that technique is a cage. I want to be able to exit from the cage some time. What do you think about it? many compliments for all your passion. Ulisse

  • @ulissegarnerone I think technique has the opposite effect, it frees up my mind as I can start focusing on what I want to express instead of how in the world I'm going to make it happen. Greets,

    Martin.

  • @ElWischi Exactly! Technique is only a tool of expression.

  • @ElWischi BTW, great playing! :)

  • @ElWischi Man I just get a buzz from it all, the enthusiasm shines through, note density has no relevance for me. I felt like a child in a sweet shop, so many things to pick from!

  • @ElWischi How much gain do you use when you do shred type licks. I've been keeping mine at around 12:00 on the dial, but i find it harder to play faster/ cleaner what do you typically do?

  • @ElWischi Exactly, and you don't need to reduce your ideas to what you can actually play. And by the way, awesome solo, you're great guitarist Martin!

  • @ulissegarnerone I would argue that a lack of technique is a cage. Technique is just another tool of expression, and the more tools you have to express yourself, the better, surely? Obviously technique is not the only thing required though - players who play with no feeling and all technique are terrible IMO. Great guitar players have a good balance of both technical and melodic . There's a time and a place for everything - the problem for most people is knowing when the right time is...

  • @ulissegarnerone

technique is only a cage if you don't add phrasing to that technique. technique is a way to escape typical guitar playing, far from the opposite. it just takes practice turning that technique into something tasteful.

  • escala em E solo muito bom mesmo de se ouvir voce toca muito bem continue assim flow até +

  • Hi Vinnie Moore, I' am Ilker.

  • Hey... I was out at RUSH... not fair!!! That's a monster master class in mega technique! Super!!

  • Insanely good!

  • Some Vaï influence in this solo.

    Good job Martin !

  • Martin this was awesome! surely one of your best solos! why don't you upload a video running through your gear sometime? I am very curious to see what equip you use...

    Cheers

  • WTF..... string skipping tapping from 1 to 6 string ? ... how the hell someone think even in try that ? .... nice one man, awsome

  • @openmind1984,

    Yes, cool lick.

Actually, I think it's a variation of (and similar to) a Greg Howe lick, but awesome nonetheless!

  • Insane! Oh my god!

  • MAN! Im stunned, to much awesomeness!

  • What scale were you using in this?

  • that was incredible.

  • Great playing and tone as usual Martin!

I love how you pace/mix-up your legato and staccato ideas as well as your blend of melodic-versus-shred ideas. Even though your style is completely your own and NOT reminiscent of Rick Graham's in general, your blend of staccato-vs-legato and melody-vs-shred are also why I enjoy Rick's (and your) styles so much! I also love the rock tone & feel applied to fusion-harmony/not-choice!

    Great stuff all-around!
