  • my mom loved alan & this song always reminded me of her. Love it

  • Very good rendition. Very good voice

  • i love my buddy for sharing this song...love u

  • I love this man!

  • I think Alan does a great job with this song. Very good version!

  • Wouldn't this song be kick ass a little faster, and with some honkey tonk to it??? Just sayin'!!

  • This is a great version for sure. But also listen to Chris Young's versioni. He's one of the best new artists singing original songs and classics like this one. Good singers have a way of making a good song GREAT!

  • dont close your eyes ,,,is d best song ever ,the fair of being wit 1 preson n lovin other ,,heartless bt true in sum cases ,,

  • Alan Jackson, George Strait Tim McGraw and Reba Mcentire are the best imo

    !!!!!

  • Alan Jackson could acheive a number one hit off singing the phone book. Aside from George Strait and Jones, Alan is the last true county singer.

  • enough people have done Alan Jacksons songs in the past so maybe he as a right to do a few covers , AJ is awesome and delivers every time how can anyone knock this man ? as someone said AJ is one of the only true country artists still out there , he sings country how it is suposed to be sang , the gd old fashioned way :) love ya AJ :)

  • nice tribute to Keith,,,,,nice job Mr. Jackson....the good Jackson!

  • I almost listened to all versions(different singers and time) of this song and it's really nice..

  • I almost listened to all version of this song and it made me happy...

  • Alan is a true legend of country music.

  • what a great song i like it :)

  • How bout listening to my version: watch?v=mjobstAyQVk

  • This is coming from one of the biggest Keith Whitley fans of all time, whether he sang country or bluegrass he could never be topped and I so enjoy all his music. That being said Alan Jackson is one of the oh so few that sings a real country song these days and I have to give him a thumbs up for this cover.

  • I REMEMBER SITING ON MY DADDYS FOOT WHILE HE DANCED AND SONG THIS SONG HES STILL ALIVE BUT I NEVER SEE HIM THE WOMEN HE SONG THIS TO WAS MY MOTHER THAT I LOST ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO

  • I am not a big fan of people doing other peoples hit songs, but man, Alan does this song justice.

  • I didn't even listen to all of this. IT IS TOTALLY OBSCENE for Allan Jackson to do the beautiful Keith Whitley version of this song.

Keith brings tears to my eyes; Allan just leaves me upset for having balls to disrespect a classic song!!

  • @StevesLens Disrespect? Keith is probably honored the country legend Alan Jackson covered his song. Your comment was a disrespect to country music buddy.

  • jimmy b is from edinburgh in scotland

  • @dennisk1979 JIMMY WHO

  • you should hear jimmy b sing it awsome like

  • keith verson is great i sing it at any karaoke

  • Never heard the Whitley version. :\

  • I have never heard Alan sing this song and he did a good job, but no Keith.

  • what is wrong with you people

  • i dont usually like covers but this is pretty good.... my fave cover of this song is by kellie pickler tho

  • i love both alan jackson's & keith whitley's versions! i cant even decide! keith whitley's version is classic, but i have to say, alan jackson is a close comparison for talent <3

  • krásná písnička

  • Beautiful song==

  • simply put...LOVE IT!

  • esta musica é boa de mais de ouvi que pelicia esta voz linda de mais bjosss

  • For another singer to sing this fabulous song of Keith's, Alan Jackson

    nailed this song :-)

  • I'm generally an "original is best" guy.....but Alan....you come close...and his contribution to the Bellamy's "Dixie" improved it hugely!

  • Alen Jackson did an awesome job on this song .

Please check out my take on it TTaurus393 post comments

  • ALAN JACKSON IS FUCKING AWSOME & HIS MUSTACHE MAKES ME SMILE!

  • Alen was giving tribute to Keith! Keith was giving tribute to the country artist that came be fore him, Lefty and the blue grass boys, Roy Acuff! God rest his soul. Louri bought a double headstone at Keiths plot with intentions of being buried next to him when she leaves this world to be with Keith and God!

  • Chris Young Sings it Way Better... Sorry

  • I wish country music would go back to making music like this, Don't get me wrong I love the music they are doing now but it will never compare to the songs they made back in the day

  • I think Alan Jackson did a good remake of it, I mean other than the voice he didnt change the music in the slightest taking away from the song...but I agree with the others no one can sing it like Keith Whitley this is his song <3

  • nobody can feel this song like keith whitley.

  • Maybe no one can do it as well as Keith Whitley did, but no one alive TODAY could do it as well as Alan Jackson did. Great cover of a great song Alan. Love it!!

  • alan...we love you to pieces, but come on.......no woman believes that you could be the man in that song...you sing it beautifully...but we aint buying it o.k.........

  • Alan has done a great cover on this song BUT nobody will ever sing it like Keith, who was one of the greatest singers of both country and bluegrass to ever grace a stage. His range, tone, texture of voice and the feeling he put into a song is equal to none. Will there ever be another artist to match him? I think not. That being said I really like Alan who is doing a great job to try and keep country music alive.

  • I love this beautiful song! Please watch my version and let me know what you think! Thanks :]

    xo Kristina

  • I agree, this ain't Keith. But I'm a BIG fan of Alan. This is a GREAT version. AJ is the MAN!

  • @rkjdavis i agree, cant replace keith but alan will do too!!

  • Very Good!

  • I agree. No one like Keith Whitley but it is a awesome job!!!

  • It is hard to find soul in today's popish country. AJ nails it every time.

  • YEEEEHHHHAAAAWWWWW!!!!!!!!!! GIRL DONT CLOSE YOUR EYES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kieth was certainly good but come on, AJ is light years above most, including KW

  • Keith,,you will always remain. In our hearts,,your voice. Leaves love annd everything you could ever know,,rip and sing with the angels,,love you

  • I can listen to this song over & over. AJ has such feeling in his Voice.

  • I used to hate country music. then one day I heard this song, and I thought to myself "What on Earth have I been missing out on all these years?" and I was hooked. I love you Alan. stay wonderful. <3

  • Yes, AJ is my favorite. Admirable. Most songs written by him and performed. Keith was one of the best natural talents. Indeed.

  • muy lindo tem UN SALUDO DESDE ARGENTINA

  • AJ is awesome in with this song..Hard to say which one is the best so to me they are both the best..Just a great song period.

  • Alan Jackson is totally Awesome with his Remixes!! LOVE Keith Whitley Also!! What a song!!

  • I'm not a huge AJ fan, but he did an awesome job with this song. Besides the original, this is the best version I have heard.

  • *sigh*

  • I thought I loved when Keith Whitley sang it but I have a new fav

  • for real man,,

  • @itsmefarting u mean men

  • I love everything AJ does

  • I love alan jackson but no one can sing this son better than late great kieth whitney

  • keith is the best but hey alan ,,,,, that was lovely, u aint made a fool of it

  • 9 ppl closed there eyes

  • I totally agree.....Keith is the man when it comes to "Don't Close Your Eyes"

  • wow pretty good Mr. Jackson

  • I have been an AJ fan from the start! I have never been so happy with ALL of someones music. I know he will never sing these songs like the originals. AJ does make them sound as strong as they were back then!.When AJ released "Under the infulence" he was told by original singers of them songs " He sang them as good as them and made them better noone else could"..When That CD was released AJ shook the world! He sings from the heart very few country singers like AJ Thank GOD 4 this country Boy! <3

  • love this song!!!!

  • this Man is so FINE mm lol =) love this song

  • Alan gives a lot of respect to Keith...He was taken away too early, but what he did give us while he was here was unforgettable.....RIP Keith..

  • I agree. Keith is always loved. But, damn, Alan is goo!!!

  • I agree Alan Jackson is a great singer, one of the best today, a legend in his own right.. but no one can or will ever be able to do it like Keith did.

  • @projectdarkgrey They both sing it wonderful, I like Alan as much as anyone does but I agree that Whitley sang this song in a way that tore your heart apart. Keith is hard to beat but Alan sings any song good.

  • This song is a lesson to be learn'd if you havnt experenced it yet

  • kocham Kantry jest Piękna Mużyka.

  • gorgeous!

  • I love this song.......

  • I am a Alan Jackson fan and he is good singing this song but I have to agree with with others Keith Whitley does own it !

  • word just what budshirley is saying

  • Love Alan Jackson But Keith Sorry!!!!!

  • For any of you who have lived the words of this song, Keiths voice stikes the right nerves to bring those memories back.

Alan has a nice voice, but Kieth owns it.

  • one word to describe this cover.......AMAZING

  • one word to describe this cover.......AMAZING

  • This is classic AJ and hes got the perfect voice for this kind of remake He can sing this and He is all over Hanks the Blues Man

  • Keith Whitley & Alan Jackson were the soundtrack to my childhood from ages 5-11, my god if I only knew then that those were the best days of my entire life. I played those cassette tapes so often they wore out completely. This is a very good cover, but nothing tops Keith. Thanks for sharing.

  • makews me cry like a 3yrold......no matteer who sings......what a song

  • i prefer keith whitley's version, but alan jackson sure did a great job! i'd never heard this before just now, thanks for posting it! :)

  • i gotta agree with Crazyjoker and zelda...they dont make em like this anymore....modern country singers just riding the bandwagon...classify it as "rock" but NOT "country". Some of them r great songs, but not country.

  • Someone said the majority of country singers today are trying to land on the pop billboards to increase their fan base, and its creating a country pop cross over. But country and rock are very similar music styles. My dad told be growing up that Lynyrd Synyrd was considered both country and rock, which created the southern rock sub genre. and with them is 38. special (Ronnie Van Zants brother) Charlie Daniels, Hank Jr. and even now Kidd Rock is considered southern rock.

  • @whodey8607 that was to silks777

  • @whodey8607 it's all about the cash flow, the trick as fans is to really appreciate the good ones ya know?

  • @whodey8607 yes, that is true !

  • i gotta agree with Crazyjoker and zelda...they dont make em like this anymore....modern country singers just riding the bandwagon...classify it as "rock" but NOT "country". Some of them r great songs, but not country.

  • I like Alan Jackson but....Keith Whitley's original version is better.

  • sunds colse but not like keith whitley. keith has a very unique romantic voice.

  • I love Alan Jackson but no one can sing this song as good as Keith Whitley.

  • @budshirley24228 keith left us to early but he left this song 4 us to remember hi 4 ever allan does it no harm

  • @MrVANJR agree with u, if anyone deserves to sing this song today it would be Alan. He definately does it no harm, i like that statement, Man I do wish that Whitley would have stayed around to put out some more good stuff for a country fool like me to listen to.

  • @cowboyfan1113 ...just telling the truth...

  • @budshirley24228 your 100% correct nothing like the original, I heard this song but never new Keith Whitley until I watched his songs on youtube, I never new there was a man that was better than the best today, all I can say is wow. its a pity we cant see or hear him today.

I am from south Asia and love country music and know all the top singers but never new Keith, I think he was a great singer that was under rated during his time or they dont give him much prominance today since he's gone.

  • @budshirley24228 Ever heard this song sung by Billy Mack-Irish Country singer????Even better than Keith

  • @budshirley24228 check out Bradley Gaskin's version

  • @budshirley24228 I sooo agree. Alan Jackson is great but Keith Whitley is this "his" song.

  • @budshirley24228 Lol sorry I meant this is "his" song.

  • @budshirley24228 amen to that!! i love Alan 2 but he is no Keith

  • @budshirley24228

    Fantastic upload, thanks for posting

Please check out my bro's version on my channel, comments much appreciated guys n gals.. thank you..

  • @budshirley24228 soo true... but alan is the best country singer in the world i think

  • 9 people aint never had no love thumbs up for the king

  • damn like it much!

  • GHRRRRRR he makes my mouth water.

  • i like todays country music but i have to agree 100% that there is nothing like this anymore...

  • @222delta1 I'm sorry, but todays country music doesn't exist. What you call country music might sound good to you, but to me it's anything but C&W. Todays country artists ( with a few excedptions ) are about as exciting as a visit to the dentist :(

  • @opelpia i know what ur sayin but there are few newer singers that i like...

  • @opelpia I agree, Jamey Johnson is definately an exception in my book though. I kinda like Kenny Chesney too.

  • Rest in peace Keith Whitley. Alan's still here to help us through.

  • a pesar de não enteder o que ele fala mas sou fãn desse cara, adoro as músicas dele.....

  • @Anselmo106 Solo hablo espanol pero entiendo tus sentimientos de esa musica! ciao

  • its not possible for alan jackson to sing a bad song, everytime i here a alan jackson song i fall in love all over again

  • Well said CrazyJoker. This is pure gold

  • the dont make em like this anymore

  • @TheCrazyjoker420 sure dont!

  • what cd is this on

  • God he's Beautiful!

  • .... and Waylon..... the list continue...

  • Does anyone know how to fix automatic playlist, the automatic tube is on and yet it will not continually play the entire list

  • dont close your eyes let it be me dont pretend its him in some fantasy! great lyrics sung by a great man!

  • i like your music but you don't sound right for this song !!!! im sorry :(

  • Alan Jackson is one of the best country artists that have ever lived. I love this song sung by Keith Whitley but Alan has his own style. Both versions are legendary.

  • ... ole Vern, Mr Cash, Waylon, Marty, Porter, Charlie Rich, Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Gary Stewart, Lefty Frizzel, Tammy Wynette, Dan Seals, Jerry Reed,

    Bill Anderson,

Chris LeDoux and just so many more, rest in peace... and the count will continue.

  • @ConditionOfAnonymity Dont forget The King

    EAP!!!!!!!

  • @curtknows101 , yup...... and of course let's not forget Mr. Conway Twitty. a---bout can't wait to go to the big jam up there in our Lord's House, yes-sir-re-bob it's gonna be rocking. back to you mr. Curt...

  • .. damn-it boy, ol AJ done good on this one, of course like he always does. ol Alan Jackson is gonna be one of the great one, boy. but i sure miss Mr. Whitley, "rest in reace" Keith, the Lord's House in Heaven sure gonna be sounding good once we all get up there. talk about some good-ole surround sound, bose ain't got nothing on God's Kingdom. just look at God's Singers already there.... Hank Sr. !!! ... etc...

  • Listening to Alan perform this pays tribute to just how good Keith Whitley really was!!! Alan is good but Keith was better!!!

  • @mclenptp You got that right. Knowone will ever top Keith whitley's version.

  • Very good version ! :)

  • omg !!

  • @paloverdemusicshack Sad song.... great to dance to...fromPA

  • HY GUY GO TO GYPSYBOYSSING ON YOUTUBE HE SING THIS SONG GREAT GO SEE AT GO NOW HIS VERSION IS BETTER SOME OF AT IS IN GYPSY

  • It's very hard to do someone else's song. This is good, but Keith Whitley's version is better.

  • @BIGTROUT01 I totally agree...Keith was the man.

  • @yesimacountryboy no men, ALAN is better, so much. Keith was a big singer, but not like ALAN.

  • @jegeroar Im a big AJ fan but on this song he misses it with me. I just dont feel the same level of emotion that Keith put into it. Im not a big keith fan but.....he sells this song better than Alan Jackson. I think it may be because Keith lived this song.......Alan just sang it. this was not Alans best in my opinion.

  • this has always been a favorite of mine keith did a hell of a job with it but hearin alan sing it takes me back to the mid 90s when he did it and slow dancing with that high school sweetheart

  • Alan Jackson does a wonderful job here. But as far as this classic goes, the benchmark is Keith Whitley. Anyone disagrees?

  • @mclenptp Nope, you nailed it on the head.. KW did it right the first time. No offense to Mr. Alan Jackson, he did a nice job, but his version is a tribute, and nothing more.

  • talk about making you cry during a divorce ! lol guess thats what makes a good country singer ! GO ALAN !

  • Sorry but I like Keith Whitley singing it better.

  • @trishaleann I agree to an extent but Alan is not trying to be keith i believe he is complimenting him ...I sincerly dout Alan would ever say he is better than Keith but merley trying to pay homage

  • I LOVE ALAN!! <3 <3 my absolute favorite!!!!! his music reminds me of alot of memories from my childhood. :)

  • not too many truecounty singers out there any more, it's called rock today,

Alan Jackson is one ot the greatest. so refreshing to hear this kinda of music. thank you so much for sharing

  • Never knew AJ covered this song.

  • @TheMidgetFarmer Neither did I!!!

  • i love this man. there is no one on earth like him. he is original, one of a kind. even when he does covers like this one, he makes it his own

  • just the way he feels and sings the words with his unique phrasing.... that's what I like about so many of his songs... this one in particular.

  • There is so much emotion in his voice.. aslo the great Keith Whitley's voice. I hate that he died.. His voice was a blessing

  • @kimberli2020 Alan Jackson really is one of the greatest country singers, I saw him in concert many years ago really really awesome live if you ever get a chance to see him, totally awesome.. He knows how to take a song keep it basic country but add something new ya know make it current but you still here that old country sound

  • Good stuf, hes the man almost as good as the possum. LOL

  • LIKE. didnt think anyone could sing it beter than keith but Alan is the man.

  • @lbest36 you are kidding .....right?

  • simply wonderfull, i like very much. Three great songs just pushing one buttom. Congrat´s you have greats songs

  • what a great tribute to keith whitley what a great arrangement why cant we have more songs like this

  • god this song relates to my life so badly

  • i love his song love it
