Asakim is actually slated to be an evil/dark version of Masaki. Two sides of the coin, for balance. Similar mecha, similar attacks... and the pseudonym of Asakim's name...

Asakim... just move the 'm' over to the beginning of the name... spells out Masaki.

Not sure about this, but I heard Asakim can travel through dimensions too. Like Masaki does.

I have the pilot and unit cheat but those only put them in your party, you need the pilot swap code to actually put Asakim in Shurouga, Xine is recruitable with out cheats on both routes but you can only use her for the last stage.

Asakim is probably just an alternate Masaki, like Beowulf for Kyosuke... but from the Z universe instead of the Shadow Mirror one. Maybe that's how they'll bring him into OG if they decide to.

Personally, I'd like to see Masaki somehow get corrupted and turn into Asakim somehow. But it'd also be cool for a Cybuster vs. Shurouga battle.

I can see him teleporting and being seperated from his mech in the process, so he steals the Cybuster and Masaki uses Jahom for the begining of the game bringing back the Lord of the elmental originals. the obvious place to look for Shurouga would be La Gias so he trashes the place. He finds it, but you kick Cybuster's ass before he can get it. Then after the fight, he leaves Cybuster behind and goes for Shurouga. Then he goes trying to die, tortureing Setsuko and replaces Shu as Masaki's rival

That Asakim guy and his mech seem cool enough, but there are too many signs pointing to him being related to Masaki somehow for Banpresto to just blow it off. Hell, even now, I just noticed that at 5:23 they played the sound for Cy Flash in Alpha Gaiden, in addition to all of the other stuff pointed out.

I await the future. One day these guys'll meet, I'm sure of it.

The reason they look similar is because both go for a "Black Angel" look. Ingram just gets a Black Angel robot, but since this is a goth Masaki, we get a Black Angel Cybuster.

Xine can also be recruited on rands route. You need to meet the conditions for recruiting her and then have Rand defeat Asakim during the the last stage part 1 he'll show up after Renton makes it to the marked point in part two after Ji Adell summons the two other Ji's to fight you.
