Maestro Jose Felipe was one of the great garroteros of Venezuela, He was also a labor organizer and guerilla fighter who fought for the health and dignity of the oppressed. He was a very friendly and wise man who had a nice little farm in the hills above El Tocuyo. I lived on his farm learning garrote larense. Maestro Jose Felipe and his wife were magnificent hosts and made me feel very welcome. On Sunday afternoons he would hold a small class when other garroteros could enjoy a friendly game

I lived in Venezuela for several years teaching the Military H2H and never heard of this system. I searched throughout the country for other arts to crosstrain with and found nothing but TKD and some other generic Japanese systems. Can anyone give me some backround on this system? I'd love to check it out.

@Masterfinger hi, master! Venezuelans are veru jelous with our traditions and things, because of this we no say or tell no body. There are many things about Venezuela that nobody knows , only us( & who we wants)...but if u listen to a colombian: this or that is mine!!.jaja! .sure! lies!...they has a big mouth!! they has liberty from hand of Bolivar, but this only venezuelans knows, now im telling u.....tamunangue helped to defend our lands of conquerors and invaders.
