  • Comment removed

  • 0:10 i saw her tits

  • lip-syncing

  • The french part clearly have been re-recorded and put over ... It's not the same voice at all

  • for anyone who thinks its dubbed, she does speak mandarin its just the video that is a little off..very smart woman :)

  • SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR

  • did i just saw a nip slip?

  • I think the French part and the Mandarin part are not her voice.

  • the mandarin looks dubbed - see how she holds her hand over her mouth with the phone to mask this?

  • @nuttygirl2001 it isnt dubbed its just that the audio isnt in sync with the video

  • that toatally wasnt macthin up lol he sounded lighter nd she sounded rly ruff loo :P

  • French, Italian, Spanish are feminine languages while

Russian, German, Japanese are masculine languages

  • @sornostrasse

japanese isn't a masculine language at all lmao. it's the total opposite - its so polite and feminine.

  • @ohxsnaps compared to other asian languages, its more gutteral

  • @Noobssuckass300

It is set up very poetically. So much in fact that the Japanese army had to artificially add the word hai to the language during the 19th century, because the classical ee was inadequate on the battlefield for obvious reasons.

And many Asian languages have accents that are masculine sounding like Beijing Mandarin.

  • @sornostrasse I'd say Spanish could be either, depending on the dialect

  • @theoriginalmcsquare

same for pretty much all those languages, except German which is pretty universally stereotyped as masculine, whatever the dialect

  • @afeeder

    German is also deemed gay.

  • @sornostrasse

Japanese is a masculine language, where did you get this idea? Japanese is not a masculine language, Japanese is very feminine.

For masculine languages, I'd say Russian, German, English, and Arabian.

  • @TheXanian Interesting idea. What is your basis for this if I may ask?

  • that is quite awesome. i admire multi-lingualists especially of the french-chinese-english combo, because that's all i can speak so far XD

  • i think i just fell in love

  • she is such a badass

  • I love it when girls speak french, it gives the sexiness :D

  • are you sure is her voice ?

  • @AtomicGuy911 it is dubbed voice over i believe. her mouth motions does not matches the voice hehe

  • damn, sarah isnt bad either. but vanessas 3-0 for the win.

    XD!

  • Sarah Michelle Gellar is just so beautiful!!!

  • vanessa , will you marry me !!!!?

  • the video and sound is just out of sync, she really can speak mandarin and french

  • Comment removed

  • both her chinese and french aren't the best, but at least she tried right?

  • they are using simple chinese.very simple.

  • What exactly is the difference between frensh and chinese anyhow?

  • @chris69666 Woah, you are really fucked up arent you!?

  • fake

  • she speaks fluent french like an american would: with a funny US accent. very good.^^

  • Fluent french like any american? Ya my ass. Canada is the real french\english country, its very unusal to find a french speaking american.

  • @whygod1105 AN, not ANY. French speaking american people talk like that.

  • her chinese accent is not so good

  • that can't be her speaking chinese.

her french is way not fluent too.

  • @AccioJo Doooode...

  • when I first heard this i cuddnt understand the chinese and now i can woot woot...

  • Her 1st line is "This is impossible". Her 2nd line is the all too familiar "Our money not enough".

  • Wikipedia says that she is fluent in Chinese.

  • I'm an American born and raised, and I speak Spanish and am learning French. So suck it.

  • @TheSunmanho I find it funny that you can't even insult us in our own language.

I hope "they" stinking dumb country will cease to exist? seriously? What "English for Dummies" book did you learn our language from?

  • @hotwaiter

I learnt English from watching MTV.

  • @TheSunmanho You should learn English by watching more a intellectual station. MTV is dumbed down.

  • @TheSunmanho

Maybe you should learn from VH1 instead?

  • hahaa shes not actually fluent in chinese ^.^ its part of the script...

  • Wow, my 2 favorite non-native languages. In one video. And now it is saved =o

  • oh man. her mandarin kinda didn't match up with what the guy on the phone was saying LOL

  • what was he saying and what was she saying?

  • thats fuckign sexy

  • impressionnant ^^

  • yes..agreed, the way she speaks Mandarin is a little 'rough'.....:-)

  • @WW618 Francais aussi

  • her Chinese sounds so damn funny

  • second that haha

  • I wanna know those language too :D

  • its written on wiki that she is fluent in mandarin and french. get over it you bunch of douches that are just jealous that you cant speak either language.

  • its a voiceover...and the chinese pronounciation isnt even good xD

  • It's not actually, she has a bit of an accent but she does speak Mandarin in real life.

  • It's not a voiceover, you retards. This is from the movie Suburban Girl.

  • is her chinese a taiwan dialect? -.-

she talks faster than me hahahaha

  • i dont know about her accent, but i know the way she talks in mandarin is more like chinese(mainlander) style than the taiwanese.

  • what's your point?

  • It's not a voice over, it's just delayed. It says on IMDB she speaks mandarin and french

  • Voice over....

  • Yes, that sounds like a voice over to me too.

    And looks.

  • And how, pray tell, does that "sound" like a voice over?

  • Oh well it just didn't sound like her was all. And her voice didn't really match up that much.

  • not sure whats really going on but..i think the lips matched up in the movie but not here. and if u can speak different languages, you'd know that the voice tone you use for one language is likely to be different for different language.

  • how she know chinese? i understand her

  • I think buffy is jalous from her :D

  • that's Buffy the Vampire Slayer!!!

  • the brown haired girl is from two and a half men! lol.......shemenpow!

  • Meh, she has a slight accent but it's impossible for people who don't speak the language to notice which is probably good enough lol. On the other hand her french is impeccable.

  • hey her mandarin wasn't too bad. a bit of an accent, but it's hard for non-native speakers lol. this is what i got from it:

her: "...but, Mr. Wang, this is our first time."

him: *Can't hear what Mr. Wang is saying*

    her: "This won't work!"

    him: *Can't hear again*

her: "You know that we don't have enough money!"

    him: *Can't hear again... lol*

her: "This is very bad. Give me a call tomorrow. Goodbye."

lol. and i dont think its taiwanese mandarin; if it was, she wouldn't pronounce the "sh" in 是

  • what's the name of this movie please! ^^

  • it's a voiceover.

  • it isn't search on wiki

  • I understood, woot. I agree, sounds very Taiwanese Mandarin, the only one I understand, lol. Mainland Mandarin is... too fast or something? x_xa

  • That's not fluent-- that's called memorizing the sounds in the script and trying to talk fast.

  • fucking show off!

  • is that really her speak?

  • Extremely poor Chinese.

  • LOL her accent is funny :)

  • her mandarin sux

  • lol sounds more like taiwan mandarin ish accent :)p

  • I only caught "ming-tien geh wuh da dien-hua"

    Tomorrow hit electric talk

    "Call me tomorrow"

you're right it does sound very Taiwanese mandarin'ish

  • duchaneaux

    It's supposed to be

You may be a cunninglinguist, but I'm a masterdebator hahaha

  • sounds funny...lol.

  • she sounds funny speaking mandarin..

  • well duh, i guess french isn't her native language, smartass....

  • Amazing!A pretty australian girl speaks perfectly french and mandarin.

  • She's british/american by citizenship.

  • she spoke so harshly. no wonder foreigners have a bad image about mandarin.

well i guess she's applying the harsh cantonese tone to it.

  • Ok not an expert, but can tell you that there are MANY dialects and accents of chinese. I believe she has the mandarin BEIJING accent, which is kinda hard, and is like Texan-english, just in chinese. And yeah Cantonese has a very harsh tone to it, but a lot harsher than mandarin

  • nah I disagree it sounds more like Taiwanese mandarin. The Beijing mandarin has a lot of "aRRrr" and "erRrrr" sounds to it.

  • L'accent français kel a koii !!!

  • i that second scene, she looks like heidi klum

  • Shangdong accent?

    no,should be henan accent !

    hahaha

  • nah...that's not henan accent..my father's from henan..i know it very well...the girls accent is more like xinjiang accent..haha

  • The girl spoke Mandarin with a Shangdong accent.

  • I admire Vanessa Branch, she sure is a linguist, even in Chinese, amazing!!

  • She may be stunning linguist, but I'm a master debater!

  • haha you mean, she's a cunnin linguist?

  • 王先生你知道这是不可能的。

    你怎么能这样子呢?

    你知道的,我们钱不够。

    怎么不可能了?

    弄不好,你明天给我打电话。

    ——哈哈,笑死我了

  • The problem here is the accent. It sound like she is trying to apply a Cantonese accent to Mandarin.

  • i noticed that too

  • I want to be her.

  • :D my mom is picking her up and bringing her to feed the fish.

  • lol her french sounds so fake

  • Her Chinese accent is not bad. I can understand her easily. Pretty good compare to the average people trying to learn Chinese as second language.

  • Sarah Michelle Gellar and Vanessa Branch together in one scene? This is too hot.

  • "Hang Up" I love it!! lol

  • she obviously can't speak mandarin.

  • In my opinion, she doesn't speak French by herself, it looks like a voice off the camera. Although it is fluent French, it doesn't seem to be connected to her lips.

  • its because in the video posting..the audio is off by a couple seconds. duh.

  • It looks more like typical 'voice-over' (reminds me of those old kungfu flicks which speaks english..lol), as u can see when she speaks english, her lips match/in-sync, where else when she speaks french or mandarin, her lips doesn't match/sync the languages she speaks in.

  • do she can really speak mandarin and french?

or it just in this movie?

  • she got some of the manderin accents wrong. but the french was pretty good

  • hey, at least she tried :)

  • Have you ever thought about her character is fiction and therefor just because she speaks french and chinese in the movie does not mean that she have had an degree in those languages. Maybe she has, but hey.. just putting it out there

  • Kaisergrendell, let me point out the ad hominem attacks you said.

"Do you understand the word 'rare'? It's been mentioned a few times before but you don't seem to grasp its meaning."

"Perhaps you can come back in a few months to realize how off the mark you are and that I'm actually agreeing with you on some points. Some people just need time to realize they're being fools."

Basically those remarks means you attacked the person, not the issue, thus engenders an ad hominem. Just clarifying.

  • her mandarin is so...bu dui yin

  • her mandarin--didnt hit the right tone..

i can tell that she is a foreigner and is not fluent in chinese.

  • it sounded fine to me.

  • I can understand her,

but it's true that her tones were off.

Tones are a bitch for foreigners trying to learn the language.

  • what`s the film name

  • is it hard to learn french? which is harder, french, germany or spanish?which one is the easiest?

  • @cheldots Its all subjective of course but Google the following term including - for a good website/guide.

    how-to-learn-any-language

imho for a native English speaker none of those three are very difficult to grasp the basics of but Spanish is a little more logical, from our point of view, again though its all down to personal taste.

  • Her French is way better than her Chinese...

  • her chinese is good too lol

  • good!how did she learn chinese?

  • she's saying qu'est-ce qui se passe, it means what's happening / what's going on

  • Okay... i keep hearing this quest - que space? or what ever it is question.... what does that mean... :S anyone help....??

  • "qu'est-ce qui se passe?"... means "what's going on", or "what's up"... whichever. : )

  • YALDi Thanks a billion!!!

  • To the user: you stated "... you rarely come across non-Asian actresses that can speak any Asian languages". This is untrue. I know plenty of non-Asians who do speak one or more Asian languages. You need to get out more or something.

  • Admit it or not, Non asians speaking Asian languages and vice versa IS rare.

  • I am saying we live in a 21st century where diversity and international relations are paramount and at its zenith. More people are learning languages that is not of their "ancestry". This is why I reject your claim.

  • Of paramount importance, agree. At its zenith, my two butt cheeks. Non-asians who speak asian languages are still a minority, a rarity. Delude yourself as much as you want, my "claim" is only the simple, obvious truth.

  • Your claim is stereotypical and devoid of cultural congruity. That's like me saying "Only white people speak English." This is not true. Similarly, it is not ALWAYS true that Whites do not speak an Asian language.

  • 1. My claim is not based on stereotypes.

    2. My claim does not refute the existence of cultural congruity, it only disputes the unrealistic extent of cultural congruity you seem to think the world has acquired.

    3. I said people who speak languages foreign to their own are *rare*, not nonexistent. Do you understand the word 'rare'? It's been mentioned a few times before but you don't seem to grasp its meaning.

  • 1. I do understand what "rare" is, but what I don't grasp is your operationaliztion of "rare".

    2. Your claim is stereotypical because once you used the term rare you've overgeneralized it to specific demographic.

    3. Do you understand the word "ad hominem"? Clearly, your ingredients for debate includes epithets.

  • It wasn't an ad hominem attack, I genuinely doubted if you knew the meaning of the word.

I'll leave it here for others to judge. Perhaps you can come back in a few months to realize how off the mark you are and that I'm actually agreeing with you on some points. Some people just need time to realize they're being fools.

  • You're way off on your remarks. I've been to Japan, Hong Kong, Central Asia, South Eastern Asia, etc. My perception was the same as yours before I traveled to these countries. Now that I did realized Americans are closed-minded people, lacking culture and understanding of the social interactions in 21st century. China prepared its workers to speak English in 2001 since they announced the 2008 Olympics will be held there. I provided facts and experiences, thus you haven't convinced me yours.
