@chocostatic I totally agree with you I am fine with Vandoren B40 13 and V12 Reeds. As far as tone is concerned I strongly believe that your equipment does 20%, the remaining 80 depends on your blowing capacity and embouchure ...
@HemiusMora Why do so many clarinetists ask these types of questions? Are you Martin Fröst? Do you have the same embouchure structure as him? How are you so sure that even if you did get a mouthpiece like his that you would even be able to play well on it in the slightest?
To Clarinetists of YouTube: The best setup is the one that works the best for you individually, and chasing after the mouthpieces of virtuosos only helps you succeed in wasting your own time.
@chocotastic Equipment matters. Playing on inferior equipment can be a frustrating struggle. How can you know if there is better equipment without trying everything? That's too expensive, so you look towards the players who sound the best, and you ask what they play with. It took me 6 years of playing before I found the Eddie Daniels II ligature (I think he is using this), which magically made all my reeds sound better and more consistent. Equipment problems are such a waste of time.
@cornellouis I agree, although balancing out practice and equipment is the key to playing the clarinet really well. I'm fine with the Festival Buffet, Pyne mouthpiece and barrel, Vandoren reeds, and BG gold plated ligature. Once you do find the "perfect" set-up, stick with it and never change it, especially the mouthpiece and the ligature.
