John Rowles' voice is too solid similar to Engelbert Humperdinck. Very nice voice but doesn't jibe with the tune and the lyrics which suggest a pacific location, a tropical small island girl waiting back home.
Anyways it depends on the listener, as for me this is the best version. So have fun my fellow fan of this beautiful song.
John wrote this for his little sister Cheryl, and the sleepy little town is on the North island of NZ where John grow up. And it is John Rowles song and will always be so.
