I first heard this song at a show in Ann Arbor about six years ago, still one of my favorites, and they've come a long way. What a fantastic band. Their music fits every mood and every situation. They truly never dissapoint.

Well ignorance and stupidity are two very different things. You don't call a child stupid for what he/she doesn't know. It was wrong of me to imply they want their fans to smoke pot. However, as an occasional smoker and tripper, I know they play to the way senses perceive their music and lyrics under the influence. I'm sure they're proud of every fan they have. I don't mean any insult by my responses, just trying to convey my perspective, which many people I've met don't understand.
Weed will unveil characteristics of songs that you absolutely CANNOT hear otherwise. To you, reverb on a guitar that is panned slightly to the left is just an effect. To me, it's a sound that is coming at me from miles away and crossing me. Add that to the unnumerable other signal positions that can be created in the studio and the artists/producers create an overwhelming 3d auditory world intended to be heard in the exact manner they were written in, under the influence of drugs.
that being said, back in highschool, i used to skip class and get home and smoke a joint while floating around in my pool with this song playing in my headphones, with a beer floating next to me...

Well ignorance and stupidity are two very different things. You don't call a child stupid for what he/she doesn't know. It was wrong of me to imply they want their fans to smoke pot. However, as an occasional smoker and tripper, I know they play to the way senses perceive their music and lyrics under the influence. I'm sure they're proud of every fan they have. I don't mean any insult by my responses, just trying to convey my perspective, which many people I've met don't understand.

Weed will unveil characteristics of songs that you absolutely CANNOT hear otherwise. To you, reverb on a guitar that is panned slightly to the left is just an effect. To me, it's a sound that is coming at me from miles away and crossing me. Add that to the unnumerable other signal positions that can be created in the studio and the artists/producers create an overwhelming 3d auditory world intended to be heard in the exact manner they were written in, under the influence of drugs.

I disagree, drugs make you focus on the music more. You really stop and listen to all the things that go into a song.

@Amputechture22 mayeb for some people. i don't smoke weed and this song blows my mind. all the things people are saying this song does for them while high, does the same thing for me. and i'm sober. so i mean it totally depends on the person i think. i stop and listen to all the things that go into a song, while i'm sober. i like that so i don't need to rely on drugs to take me to a different mindset to appreciate everything in it. but to each his own. minus the bear is wonderful and beautiful.

Like I said before...word. I hate those kind of comments. Besides, you dont hear music when your on drugs...you lose judgement. Its funny when I was with these guys, they said they got high and listened to Pink Floyd it was better. I replied by saying, Pink Floyd made me high, not weed.
