Heat requires a medium to be transferred through when not existing as photons, and as you may remember, space is a vacuum.The atmosphere would carry all that heat until it could be dissipated into space. A critical examination of just one rock formation makes that quite clear from the basis of the geology, chemistry, physics, and math involved in just this one case alone. But let's get to what the real data says, the chemical compostion of a great many minerals that compose the sedimentary layers have an exothemic component to their chemistry. What you end up with is far too much heat in the evnironment in too little time. All life would've been exterminated, and no ark could've saved anything. A dead cinder is what earth would've been.

The waters came from below not above. The firmament is the ground not the sky. Anyone ever heard of a well or a spring? As in well water. That's why people throw money down wells and ask for a wish to be granted. In the bible it talks about "Fountains of the deep" Ever seen old faithful? If we have high volcanic activity it will boil the well water the steam will burst through the crust and go in to the atmosphere and the water will come down as rain, very very heavy rain.

If volcanic activity were to force the water up by way of steam it would create massive storms dumping untold water. Ever notice fossils are found in layers below ground level? Heat requires a medium to be transferred through when not existing as photons, and as you may remember, space is a vacuum.The atmosphere would carry all that heat until it could be dissipated into space. @2011is2012 I think that I've been pretty clear so far. But I will elaborate. As the literal interpretation of Genesis requires, a global deluge of one year duration simply did not happen. A critical examination of just one rock formation makes that quite clear from the basis of the geology, chemistry, physics, and math involved in just this one case alone. The Noachian Flood is a myth. A local flood that got bigger in the retelling of the tale? Sure, I can see that.

pardon , but if the flood only lasted about 1 year in total , maybe a bit longer , then when exactly did all the sediments get laid down ? If they were mostly laid by the flood where did all the sediment come from, how did it form the layers, did the volcanic material happen under water during the flood ? How did any fish survive in water with that much sediment ? How do you explain evaporites ?
