Actually in the vampire diaries books, there isn't a what are you I'm a vampire. Elena walks in on Stefan having a feed gets scared and falls off a building.

The whole "What are you" and the "I'm a vampire." is suspiciously similar to the Twilight scene. However, the Vampire Diaries were written way before Twilight. But they are sort of making an homage to its success in this scene.

TVD is wayyyyyy better than twilight by far! elena wants her humanity and shes afraid of vampirism. real vampries dont sparkle :) and TVD has a wayy better plot than twilight which is about a vampire family who is forced to protect some awkward girl who dresses like a man. TVD FTW!!! WITHOUT THE VAMPIRE DIARIES THERE WOULD BE NO MEANING IN LIFE AND I WOULD STILL BE LIVING IN A CARDBOARD BOX EATING CRACKERS :P xD

Elena does the sensible thing when she finds out her boyfriend is a vampire. She tries to RUN, save her life, SOMETHING. Unlike another girl who shall remain unnamed to just basically threw herself into his arms and stuck her neck out on a whim. And some people wonder why we prefer Vampire Diaries over Twilight?

You know  I really liked twilight. But then the first movie came out and - even worse - the fourth book.

Bella gets seriously annoying. And Edward is kinda well he always wants to protect Bella. But she's so weak.

@EyeHateRemakes123 I don't know. I read about the Vampire Diaries books on wikipedia. They seem even more Mary Sueish than Twilight. Although admittedly I hate the Twilight series just as horribly. Mostly because vampires don't sparkle! But The Vampire Diaries series is pretty cool. Not as great as The Vampire Chronicles, but then again what really is?
