Unfortunately not. Per wiki it was filmed in 1986-1989 not including special episodes. I almost cried when I read that. I love the series, both the MXC and the English version of Takeshi's Castle. Watching both is like watching two different episodes. I have not found another like it.  The English version actually gives a story instead of just spoofing it. I thought it was a fairly recent show, but apparently not, although the MXC dubbed spoofed version may be.

I think it would be. I mean they made MXC and that is from the show and a lot of people watch that. I am not sure of it's down fall. Maybe the execs thought it was time to get out before it got too boring or maybe there were too many injuries... I do not know. I like the couples and the kids episodes although admittedly the kids episodes are not as brutal and thankfully not. Still funny though. I like the around the world episode as well and even saw one with Tony Hawk.

I like the ideas and the games he has in mind and the physical challenges he presents..
