  • It looks like this vid is being nullified with a bit of algorithmic chicanery...only a little over 4000 views by now?...give me a break...

  • MrBubbleBelly...why are you making it an us vs. them issue? And why assume ALL politicians are corrupt? Some of them get into politics in order to affect change. Isn't the whole idea behind OWS to affect change? So why be down on a politician who is trying to HELP!? ThatCrazyLiberal is right: at some point OWS needs to do something besides protest.

  • The OccupyMovement absolutely need to get behind an amendment like this. The Movement cant just forever be an aimless group, they need to throw themselves behind something and get things done, like amendments or legislation.

  • Another politician ready to co-opt our movement. The solutions must come from us, not the politicians.

  • @MrBubblebelly Fuck you, Jim McGovern was a progressive even before the OccupyMovement, just like Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders. He's a politician who truly works for the people. Learn about a representative before you begin to start making judgments as if he's a scumbag conservative.

  • @ThatCrazyLiberal You should watch your mouth before people start thinking you can only talk like a Conservative. I know McGovern is a progressive but the Occupy movement does not need to get behind an amendment that falls far short of the fundamental change we need. Politicians are corrupted in far more ways than through campaign financing.

  • Unions are special interest just the same as Corporations. And let me be clear the movement will be against Corporations until they are all unionized.

  • We the People - the 99% will be watching to see what (if anything) happens to the "People's Rights" Bill: HJRes88. Let's all share this and do all we can to spread the word... Mic Check!

  • I support this wholeheartedly. It was the first issue that I became aware of through Occupy, and the reason I joined the movement. Corporations and partnerships are not people and they cannot have the same rights I have.

  • I want help pass this bill and I think everyone in country want to help. Please let us know where to start. Thanks!!!

  • This is government finally listening to the people. So I support it completely. As for Union powers, their power rests in their numbers! So if they want to influence they may all still donate to and contact their representatives in govt. as private citizens. Unions can choose a day and everyone privately donates just like how OWS chose bank transfer day and mass action day to make our voices heard.-Leland Gross, OK (independent)

  • Thank YOU! Let's get this passed!!

  • I like the proposed amendment, but one thing that it glaringly leaves out is partnerships. Some of you might imagine partnerships as being one or two people working together in a mom-and-pop business, but some of the biggest companies in the world are partnershps, raking in billions of dollars in profits every year. While the partners are people, the entities that are the partnerships are not people - they are entities as well as corporations.

  • I agree with Congressman McGovern 100% !! The corporations and the unions should be considered the same as they act in the same way. And please show a little respect, even if you disagree with him entirely. One of the major problems today is that there is such lack of respect in political discourse - everyone is yelling and no one is listening. Your adversary is not the devil incarnate- (s)he is merely a human being with a different point of view.

  • Sure would be nice but we all know this is just talk. Just talk to keep us quiet while you & every other politician rape us behind our backs. Just talk that will never change a thing.

  • Hell yes, thanks Jim! You're making it so people truly understand these policies.

  • @KCKatheist: agree wholeheartedly that the 99% needs to focus on this. Disagree with anti-tent sentiment. The occupy movement is a huge part of why stuff like this is gaining traction. Occupy is powerful in it's ability to inspire, and has already done a lot of good. The problem with 'occupy the vote' is that, thanks to massive corporate and private campaign funding, votes are almost always a choice between 2 corporate shills..,

  • Thanks, Jim. This went well with Radiohead as background music.

  • Go Jim, Go! Thank you!!!

  • This is exactly what we, the 99%, must focus on. We need to OCCUPY our legislatures, demanding that our representatives GET THE MONEY OUT OF OUR SYSTEM. A constitutional amendment demanding same will go a long way towards accomplishing that goal. It takes 34 states, I believe, to do this.

No more tents-OCCUPY with your VOTE.

  • Amen!!!

  • Citizens United is a terrible decision, and I've been waiting for a lawmaker with the courage to propose a constitutional amendment to end it. You have my full support. Thank you!

  • That's right! Maybe he should be president...

  • Jim McGovern conveniently leaves unions out of his discussion, even though they're treated the same way as corporations.

  • @theprez98 Unions, groups of people who labor for hourly wages, hours that were brutally long & wages that were unconscionably low before unions existed, and corporations, artificial entities owned by rich people that maximize their profits by shipping American jobs overseas and avoid U.S. taxation by setting up shell companies overseas. You're right, dude, the two are totally comparable.

  • @BushSucksDaily Thanks for the history lesson, but you missed my point entirely. Which was *for the purposes of political speech* in the context of the Citizens United decision, unions are groups of people just like corporations. Perhaps you should stop trying to make cheap political points and actually read the decision.

  • You sir have my support! Anything nationally you fun for, I shall remember the name "Jim McGovern". Such a great name...

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • McGovern for President. Finally someone with balls.

  • Way to go Mcgovern. I am glad you are my congressman!!

  • Hell yeah!
