My first ever vote I ever cast in a national election is for Jim Webb against George Allen in the 2006 Virginia Senate race. George "Macaca" Allen losing his seat was utterly hilarious.
And this is why I declined admission to UVA's med school because oft the fear of racism...I mean seriously, given UVA's proximity to Washington, DC, you'd think they'd be more liberal and progressive. I feel like VA is the deep south far back in the segregation era. At this point, I feel safer living in TN or MS than VA.
When I was in college I was aware that use of the word was not correct - if this man was this ignorant in college as a young adult I really doubt he's any smarter as an older adult. I don't have a problem with the man being an idiot - I just think that during these difficult times we need something better than idiots to lead - he might even be a really sweet guy but so is Bo Bo but I don't want Bo Bo to lead
I don't understand what a man said in his college years 25 or 30 years ago has to do with his views today. Once he apologised for his past beliefs, it is forgiveable.
My concern is about his PRESENT mouthings, for which he was rightly tarred and feathered and as a result he lost his seat. Bravo !!!!!!!!!!!!!
@tarpumpphillips Did you say the same thing when Hillary told the story of a man named Gandhi who ran a 7-11? The press just chuckled that one aside, but drilled this false story of racism into the minds of the ignorant majority who never got the full story.
@WWCons My position never changes, m morning word is my evening word and I call a spade a spade. I am NOT introducing politics int this at all, I stand for right at all times whether the person is Republican or Democrat, black or white, male or female, etc.
@tarpumpphillips My point is people need to get the FULL story. He has zero history of racism and did NOT make the remark knowing that a mispronounced name ended up being a politically incorrect "racially insensitive" remark. He does not speak Arabic. Had he spoken Arabic, he would not have make such a remark in a public forum knowing he was being recorded as he ran for public office. He should not have lost the election based upon these lies.
It is interesting that his father was an NFL coach of the Washington Redskins in a city predominately black and half of the players were black who loved and got along with each other and their coach and have the son of that coach have problems with the black race. He doesn't like black people and is a racist. His father would turn over in his grave
a 'little old noose'? He probably had a black man tarred and preserved and stored in a cupboard home. He tried to sneek in the epithet by speaking smoothly. Its like if I go up to a white person and say 'Hi, Honky darling". That is wrong.
LOL.. If thats all you can dig up on this guy then he's clean. Further, this is typical hypocrisy. Jesse Jackson has insulted whites and Jews for years anf gets away with it. I say "nigger" all the time, and I mean it every time. Fuck these niggaz.
Funny how Whites have to watch what they say, while Blacks can have a racist organization RIGHT IN CONGRESS called the "Black Caucus." More than a double standard - this is outright lunacy!
Dude, a white caucus would be almost everyone in Congress. What would be the point? And a caucus is just a group of legislators that share something in common. Not a political party or an activist group. For example, there's a Women's Caucus and an East Coast Caucus. It's not like the Black Caucus gets to boss everyone else around.
Well, there is a Black Caucus - what is the point of that? What is your objection to a White Caucus, then (and why do you purposely not capitalize "White"? Very telling)?
I did not capitalize "white caucus" because there isn't an official one. I capitalized "Black," "Women's," and "East Coast" Caucus because they exist. Are you going to tell me I'm a radical EastCoast rights activist because I capitalized "East Coast Caucus"?
And the purpose of the Black Caucus - the Black Caucus exists as a group within Congress. The members meet outside of Congress to discuss issues that would affect the black community in the country specifically, such as affirmative action legislation or civil rights bills. Just a private meeting of black congresspeople.
To wrap up the last post - My only objection to a White Caucus would be the redundancy. Congress is mostly white to begin with. Also, whites don't ususally identify themselves as white, but as a certain nationality, such as Irish or German, because a nationality has usually had more of a common experience in the U.S. than whites as a whole. Also, there is rarely legislation that specifically mentions or affects whites as a whole. Think of it as more of a support group than a political cadre.
How would it be redundant? "Most" is not "all." The point of the Black Caucus is to act along racial lines. Whites need to do the same. Legislation that affects Blacks (all their free money programs) affect Whites because they are the ones paying for them, so there is a very clear need for a White Caucus.
Whites are not *allowed* to identify with a race which is a double standard.
"All their free money programs"? Please let me know about one of these so I can get some too. "Whites are the ones paying for them"? Because blacks don't pay in to the tax system equally, of course not.
No, they don't. Can't have it both ways. Can't whine about being poor and also paying taxes. You have been treated with kid gloves in your arguments in the past, but I don't do that. You are wrong.
Um, not all blacks are poor. Not all poor people are black. Poor whites pay less taxes too. The lower your income, the lower your income tax, generally.
And what's with the "how much they cost society"? It's not like blacks are illegal aliens.
The Black Caucus don't even help raise money for each other. All they do is talk about bills that would specifically help or hurt blacks, which is rare nowadays. Same as the way the East Coast Caucus discusses bills that would affect fishers on the east coast, or the way the Women's Caucus discusses bills that would affect reproductive rights or harassment in the workplace. Would you suggest a Men's Caucus in Congress as well?
Dude, I'm half-white. Don't tell me I'm a self-hater.
Start a Men's Caucus if you want. I wouldn't have a problem with either of those groups forming except that the majority doesn't really need a lobbying group for their rights.
As an immigrant from the Isle of Macaca, I found nothing wrong with Allen's comments. I don't see Bastardians or Moronians making any fuss, it is simply a reference to their origin of birth. I have even heard some people say that there really is no Isle of Macaca. This is utter nonsense. It is located just south of Mapeepee
wow. you learn things every day! I didn't even know there was a word like that. Ah, but Allen is a man of the world. I think we have Macaca's here, but I didn't know.
Don't anybody ever say that names won't hurt you. The man is revealed and he meant to be mean and hurt. Now with any luck, another Republican is revealed and gone.
A complete lying sack of dogshit. Not that other the 98% of politicians are of the same ilk, he just happened to be caught with his foot in his mouth.
