Yes the SEC is historically the stronger conference, but I GUARANTEE that Clemson would wipe the floor with pretty much every SEC school this year except LSU, Bama, USC, or Arkansas. I agree, this is "good" Carolina football, not the best though. The fact of the matter is, is that we've made progress ever since that dreadful 0-11 season just a decade ago. Playing in the SEC championship game and making a new years day bowl is not something to scoff at. The reason why there is so much crowing is due to the fact that this progress was unimpeded by teams that usually own us. Till the SEC East and Clemson can find an answer, we'll continue crowing.

@nsmitty8055 you do realize that the SEC East was way down last year, right? There were 4 teams(Auburn, Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas) in the SEC West better than any in the East. The SEC wasn't as good as the ACC Atlantic in which Clemson plays.

But yeah Carolina would probably be the fourth best team in the West if you wanted to rank it (tied with Miss. St. probably and certainly above Ole miss). As for the ACC Atlantic, good luck on trying to prove that, but I wont buy for a second that any division in the ACC is hands down better than any division in the SEC; You'd have a hell of a case on your hands.
@nsmitty8055 maybe not over time, but in 2010 the ACC Atlantic was about the same at the SEC East due to FL, TN, and GA all being usually down for them. If you want to look at head-to-head, ACC Atlantic champ FSU whipped both the 1st and 2nd best teams in the SEC East in SC and FL. FSU was only slightly better than some of the other division teams like NC State, Maryland, and Clemson.
@tron81 I think FSU is way ahead of teams like NC State and Maryland. FSU has a TON of talent and they're just now utilizing it under an able coach. I think NC State beating FSU was an all out luck of the draw. I think the other 8 or 9 times out of 10 FSU beats them. Maryland is just...Well, Maryland. They had a decent season but is not a program I forsee surpassing FSU or Clemson. Though, I think we can come to an agreement that the Atlantic division and SEC East were about even this past year.

@15cutt well 14 of those 45 points were the fault of the offense(pick-6) and special teams(dropped punt return). They defense didn't play well, but remember Maryland changed QBs to a very mobile guy that made a huge difference in their offense. They'll put up big numbers the rest of the season. Clemson's defense held VT to 3 points at their own stadium, so I think they're capable of playing better than last night.

VT had every advantage: home night game, cold, windy, and rainy, but Clemson punked them. VT is better than better than every team USuCk has played so far, much less beaten.

Clemson gave away 14 points to UNC in the 4th quarter putting in reserve players. It really should have been 59-24. 7 of those UNC points came on a 100 yard kick return, so the 1st string defense gave up 21. Not great, but not that bad.
VT, FSU, and UNC all had very talented defenses, but Clemson's O still scored. Can you score much without Garcia and Lattimore?

I agree, this is "good" Carolina football, not the best though. The fact of the matter is, is that we've made progress ever since that dreadful 0-11 season just a decade ago. Playing in the SEC championship game and making a new years day bowl is not something to scoff at. The reason why there is so much crowing is due to the fact that this progress was unimpeded by teams that usually own us. Till the SEC East and Clemson can find an answer, we'll continue crowing.

But yeah Carolina would probably be the fourth best team in the West if you wanted to rank it (tied with Miss. St. probably and certainly above Ole miss). As for the ACC Atlantic, good luck on trying to prove that, but I wont buy for a second that any division in the ACC is hands down better than any division in the SEC; You'd have a hell of a case on your hands.

@nsmitty8055 maybe not over time, but in 2010 the ACC Atlantic was about the same at the SEC East due to FL, TN, and GA all being usually down for them. If you want to look at head-to-head, ACC Atlantic champ FSU whipped both the 1st and 2nd best teams in the SEC East in SC and FL. FSU was only slightly better than some of the other division teams like NC State, Maryland, and Clemson.

I think NC State beating FSU was an all out luck of the draw. I think the other 8 or 9 times out of 10 FSU beats them. Maryland is just...Well, Maryland. They had a decent season but is not a program I forsee surpassing FSU or Clemson. Though, I think we can come to an agreement that the Atlantic division and SEC East were about even this past year.

We'll have a better offensive coordinator in football, and the recruiting is going great. Clemson just announced $50 million in athletic facility upgrades, including an indoor practice building. New basketball head coach Brownell is far better than Purnell, and even he dominated the Cocks.

They defense didn't play well, but remember Maryland changed QBs to a very mobile guy that made a huge difference in their offense. They'll put up big numbers the rest of the season. Clemson's defense held VT to 3 points at their own stadium, so I think they're capable of playing better than last night.

VT had every advantage: home night game, cold, windy, and rainy, but Clemson punked them. VT is better than better than every team USuCk has played so far, much less beaten.

Clemson gave away 14 points to UNC in the 4th quarter putting in reserve players. It really should have been 59-24. 7 of those UNC points came on a 100 yard kick return, so the 1st string defense gave up 21. Not great, but not that bad.
VT, FSU, and UNC all had very talented defenses, but Clemson's O still scored. Can you score much without Garcia and Lattimore?

@tron81 did you read anywhere that i said wilds was better? i think not, and VT's defense cant stop the 4 division 2 schools theyve played this year, FSU's defense cant stop any team from scoring this year, and UNC's defense hasnt stopped shit either, all against horrible acc schools. Im just saying when clemsux plays us this year it will be ur one and only test against a great defense. PERIOD. weve already shown we can score without garcia, we will find out what we can do without latt on sat.

@tron81 2 games with shaw as starter, we averaging 34 points on offense, and giving up only 7.5 on defense, thats pretty damn good if u ask me, especially with a qb with as little experience as shaw, and he's just gonna get better, and our defense leads the nation in turnovers forced (before our bye week anyway) so we really dont need to have a whole lot of offense do we?

@15cutt Shaw did well against one of the worse defenses in college football when he played against UK. We will have to see how he does the rest of the year. He's probably good, just not as good as Garcia because if he was anywhere close Garcia would have kicked of the team a long time ago.

@tron81 and he did decent against miss st. who only gave up 19 points to LSU, so i think he's just gonna get better, and last year he might not have been as good as garcia, but the way garcia played this year, yea shaw is playing alot better
