@burgerbun723 I don't consider myself wiccan, no. Pagan, certainly... I worship multiple gods and dont fall into any of the major faiths out there with large numbers (i.e. Hindu, which is quite polytheistic) While I greatly respect Wicca and consider it an honorable path, I dont feel that it is right for me. At this point, Im feeling my way to enlightenment. For me, I think its better to find your own truths, since everything is so damn subjective anyway, lol.
I'm a pagan in college, and I live in the dorms, which means no knives. Any suggestions on an athame than isn't too conspicuous, and that I could make with limited funds and no carving tools?
Well... No knives can be problematic, but there are ways around it. One idea would be to pick up a paring knive at a local thrift store, then modify the handle (wrapping it with leather, fabric, or painting it) Another would be knapping your own glass (bottle glass works well for this sort of thing) which doesnt require any carving tools, but does take some practice. You could also take a knife (kitchen knife, most likely) and grind down the blunted end, then modify the handle. That will take
a lot of time, but is really worth it, since you can get a nice piece with a lot of your own energys in it. Last, and probably easiest, would be sculpy. Polymer clay, while not natural can be mixed with powdered herbs before you cook it, and can be molded into any shape you want. You can also mosaic in stones, charms, shells, etc ( I would glue em, since they can fall out)
Polymer clay is pretty cheap, and you only need a kitchen oven to bake it. The only thing is dont mess with food with it, since polymer isnt precisely food safe. I hope that helps.. Please let me know
Thanks! For bones, I generally go walking out in the woods and just find mine, but you could also probably get them from local taxidermists, or hunters, if you know any.
Very nice pieces of artisanry, and a good 2-part video, as well! I guess the mirror blade would be akin to the high polished samurai sword, that when held high and drawn an inch or two, would reflect the soul of the samurai wielding it. "Which is stronger, steel, or the hand that wields it?"
WOW you are soo talented i am also into making my own tools i dont have enough supplies near me or in my home town wich makes me stressed ive searched the internet but i have not come across most the things i like to make i love crafts and i actually would LOVE TO SEE YOU MAKE A CHALICE I NEED ONE BUT IDEAS ARENT FLOWING JUST YET WELL BLESSED BE AND AGAIN BRAVO SWEETIE GGREAT JOB.
Hey, thanks.... Supplies are easy. Honest. About half of the crafting tools I use I got in a hardware store, and the other half in a craft store... As for materials, the vast majority of it I got walking about outside, or in grocery stores and craft stores. Easy. So chalice next, huh? We can do that.
You're so kind... Sadly, the area in which I live is not very conductive to metaphysical shops... And besides, it costs monies to do that. Generally, I just work out of my home on this kind of thing, pretty much by word of mouth. It works nicely, since that lets me really get to know the people Im making the items for.
true true, but i hate to see such a bautiful talent go unseen, if you gt me, maybe like a little ebay thingy, i know what you mean by getting to know the person but you really could be makeing some pennies, even if you do it taylor made, ok i'll shut up now loll :op
You flatter me, lol. I did consider Ebay. Never got around to really getting down to it, though. I do occasionally do somewhat basic peices, I just -prefer- to customize them. *shrug* I may get around to actually trying to sell this kind of stuff someday. At this point its really a form of meditation and ritual for me...
