  • This looks like the one near my mosque. One friday as I was waiting outside having a cig I heard it go off for the test and man that sucker was so loud it was shaking the glass doors on the building. Not to mention that you could actually "feel" the sound in your body.

  • LOL TOP COMMENTS from two years ago LOL

  • @MrOldClassies it is FS(Federal Signal)

  • Is it by Vernon???

  • the test are nice

  • Why does it keep rotating after it winds down?

  • @JMAN123436 To keep the effect of the wind down around (so it's not like drop-off at one point then start at another point).

  • The second run is in Attack (or fast wail however you siren enthusiasts call it).

  • That siren is right next to my house for some odd reason, exept its logo is smaller, Federal Signals are cool though. :D

  • I scred my friend and hid this in my room and screamed tornado

  • Do they still make these?

  • @YankeePat94 yes they do but the only make 2001-130

  • WAIT A MINUTE!! It's spinning the wrong way!! O.o

  • @tornadodylan Dosn't matter as long as the rotator works.

  • Awesome!

  • 2001 came from the movie the space oddessey...

because the sound of this siren travels far out :-D

  • why do thay call them 2001s when thay came out in the 1990s

  • Federal Signal's uni-directional electromechanical workhorse siren was the Thunderbolt which had a model number of 100X. These sirens superseded the Thunderbolt and thus the model number was simply increased to 200X. Where did the 1 come from? One tone maybe? or the first revision to the 2000 siren (Internal testing model number?) Hard to say.

  • @clowj69 That's just a weird name...like 2001 was cool or something.

  • @clowj69 Late 1980s, actually. And the name isn't based off the year I don't think. It may have something to do with the Thunderbolt being called 1000. Perhaps the 2001's successor will be the 3002 lol.

  • i like the FS 2001 because its Mechanically Driven....but the Pitch is too High...i would love to see Federal signal Remake the Thunderbolt...now that was one Attention Getting Siren!

  • Gotta be at least 5 RPMs.

  • i have the same kind of tornado siren

  • Damn that fucker is loud!

  • those anyone know where i can buy one of these sirens??

  • Would you really wanna buy one of these? They're much bigger that they look in these videos. The cone on this model is actually about 5 feet in diameter.

  • I think they made a mistake... this siren looks more like a 2001-130.

  • Its a SRNB. Reason: The intake shroud is short. Besides, I can make out the 2001 SRNB right on the base.

  • Sorry, my mistake. It IS a 2001-SRNB, just a second generation one. I thought it was a 2001-130 because of the big FS logo.

  • @dockwellian45 its close, but it has one less detail.

The chopper box in the back of the 2001-130 is taller.

  • Cold War ones were better.

  • This siren sounds great, but seems to for some reason keep turning long after it starts winding down. Normally, they stop immediately. Also the attack mode doesn't seem quite right. Interesting federal 2001.

  • It sounds like a trumpet in the distance!

  • so was the first siren interval an alert and the second interval attack or vice versa?

  • Yes

  • such a beautifull and atmospheric sound ;P

  • I agree. I love the very short windup.

  • "you spin me right round baby right round, like a record baby right round round round"

  • LOL

  • Where I'm at in Irving, TX; I'm sandwiched between that and the EOWS 612s...and to tell the truth--after the last Tornado Warning, the 2001-130s slowly lost some air power after a third time sounding.

  • Notice how this has 2,001 views (at the time i'm viewing) o.O

  • @Antipwnsurmum 2010? with 2001 viewers? wtf?

  • @Antipwnsurmum and its a 2001 siren

  • Excellent video!

For some reason, I get the idea that this thing is ran off of an AR timer, note how when it winds down, it continues to rotate like the Thunderbolt, and the Attack signal is a little off, like it would be on an AR timer..next time you go by this siren, take a picture of the control box, I'd like to do a little investigation on this one.

You caught some great siren footage btw! Excellent!

  • Some 2001s do that, there's a 'rotator holding relay' if it's landline activated according to FS, which might be the cause of this?

  • With the DCFCTB, you can program those two motors in the 2001 head to run however long you want, and in whatever pattern you want. You can also change the timing on the attack signal to make a customized signal for fire calls or other local emergencies. Besides, it wouldn't matter if it had an AR or not, the delay in a Thunderbolt is controlled by an adjustable delay relay in the RCM1, so it would still be delayed even if it were controlled by something as simple as a light switch.

  • What kind of camera do you use? The audio is really good.

  • EXCELLENT SIREN VIDEO!!!!!!!!!1

  • fine, get rid of them, dont cry when you dont get the warning.

  • I'm also surprised to see it rotating some once it's shut off. Most 2001s stop rotating immediately once they're shut off.

  • That's a great newer SRNB.

  • all 7 tornado sirens are tested on the first Saturday of the month in every month even in cold weather.

  • There are 2 2001-130's in my hometown one near my house and one near a school we have two in my town and 5 other sirens in my area 1 2T22, 1 EOWS 612, and three Whelen 4000 series tornado siren it rotates different from our two new federal signal 2001-130 siren the Whelen 4000 series siren rotate 180 degrees to the left stops while siren is sounding and rotate 180 degrees to the right.

  • Excelent video!

  • Very nice! You have excellent videos!

  • Another thing, I'm surprised that it was still rotating while it was winding down!

  • That 2001-SRNB sounds very healthy!
