I remember being there in 2000 wearing a spray painted jacket with german writing on the back with a great big mohican but i gave up marching in 2002 as i was fed up of seeing less and less banners and more party people and too much carnival atmosphere and to me thats just a moving street party and not a protest and that is partly why Mayday is not taken seriously anynmore it's become more of a yearly party than a yearly protest plus it doesn't help with the new laws for holding a protest

What you have to understand is the most countries that call them self Communist is NOT. For example soviet was definetly not communist since communism and dictatorship don't go hand in hand.

But it is that sole point where communism fails as that gives far to much power to one small group and greed always gets the better of them in the end. every socialist or marxist state has started off with the same good intentions as what u state. Communism is the stage after capitalism. No-one on the left calls the USSR communist; not even the most dogmatic tankie (Stalinist). Some people say it was state capitalist, some a deformed workers' state . . . and so on. But not communist.

In my view it all went wrong because of politics. Politics = power and power corrupts. So I think that libertarian socialism or anarchism is the way forward.
