I was stationed at Hurlburt Field, Fl when the AC-130U Spooky started rolling in. It is a kick ass airplane. Got a lot of hours working on the AC-130H Spectre. They are both fine aircraft. But I'm a MC-130E Combat Talon 1 Crew Chief to the end.

It's built perfectly with equipment to handle intense firing when fired upon and playing offense with ground targets in battle. The AC-130 is "Death from Above." Nice Video.

@rusher80 the AC-130H "spectre" is a 1969 model, while the Ac-130U "spooky" was adopted in 1990, they both sport a 105mm howitzer, and a 40mm bofors AA gun (ironic), the spectre used to mount dual 20mm Gatling guns but not anymore, while the spooky currently has a 25mm Gatling gun, the spooky as you can guess has newer computer and sensor equipment and is a little better designed, due to it being built from the ground up as a gunship rather than a converted cargo plane

@viperfide it's a 105mm howitzer, it's an artillery piece rather than a tank cannon, you'll have to wait for the rumored AC-130W which is supposed to mount a modified 120mm (similar to what the M1 Abrams uses) also the 20mm is no longer used on the spectre but the spooky still has a 25mm Gatling gun

@GOAF2014 When I was in the Marines stationed at Camp pendleton I saw one of those open fire on a live fire range about a mile away from my barracks. It was about 22:30 (10:30 PM). It was better then any fireworks show I have ever seen.
