I remember this scene from Beyond The Mat. It looked like the daughter was the parent and Jake Roberts was the troubled son. Oh boy was he ever troubled. It was sad to see someone who was a huge pro wrestling superstar from the 1980s fall on hard times. I didn't see The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke. But I'm sure his aging pro wrestler character (Randy "The Ram" Robinson) was loosely based on aging, struggling wrestlers like Jake Roberts.

I wouldn't really compare Randy The Ram to Jake The Snake; just cause they have estranged daughters and have Animal nicknames. Randy personality based on the movie is a guy that actually cares about the business; the only thing Jake cares about is himself, and his crack, and not necessarily in that order. Randy seemed to love the business, that is why he got into wrestling; Jake got into wrestling because of daddy issues.

Ric Flair mentioned wrestling nearly 400 times in one year. Bret Hart mentioned he wrestled several 2-3 week stretches with only one or two days off at the end.

Wrestlers today are given much more time off.
