California 101 - A highway like no other

I'm traveling Highway 1 along the coast from southern Oregon to central CA next week. I've done it before and I prefer traveling north to south, as it is easier to pull off to the side of the road (you don't have to cross the path of oncoming traffic) to enjoy the MANY SPECTACULAR VIEWS. You should do that sometime, if you haven't done so already; I think you'll enjoy it even more. Gas prices are high and lodging extremely high. Plan ahead and you'll have an amazing journey. GUARANTEED!

I drove highway 1 from San Diego to San Francisco in December 2007... totally amazing.. sadly I then had to be in Portland on Christmas Eve and was leaving SF on that day so took the "i 5" as it was quicker, although it still took me about 11 hours to do it!! Next time I will do the coastal route along with the Red Woods.

@sargentcrackers yes agree! We did that a couple years ago on our way to SF for the YouTube LIVE! It was so beautiful. We have lots of vids up about them too. And that highway is amazing. We also heard and this is what we would do next time, is take the 100. It's apparently longer, but runs right along the coast the whole way.
