As a owner i cannot recommend this product anymore, firmware has bugs for over a year including Youtube support that is still not resolved.
Firmware which should resolve this (for the fourth time) is available in beta for the 1000P version but not for the 1000.
Very bad response from Qnap on the user forum, they simply don't respond on questions if and when there wil be a new release for the 1000P.
Buy yourself something else is my advice!

Does this box support filenames with Unicode? I have a lot of pictures, videos and songs with Asian characters in it and I want to know if they can be displayed properly. Can anybody tell me, please? Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if you can transfer files from PC to QNAP without taking the drive out?? please only ancer if you know

@vinski2012 you can connect the NMP as external usb or esata drive to yout pc. also you can transfer vie ftp and so on.
check the qnap site for more infos
