This commercial is more accurate than Chevy fanboys think. I know a great deal of people who went with Ford with the bailout being the deciding factor. That said, I went with Ford before the bailout... But that was a decision based on quality, not the corporate cronyism between the current administration and GM.
Stop saying Ford took out a bailout, because they didn't! Why do you think THIS AD was pulled? Because GM, BACKED BY THE GOVERNMENT, didn't want this destroying their reputation. Chevy can make a commercial lying about the F-150, but Ford can't spread the truth? A corrupt company and a corrupt government... not good at all.
Wow... people are brainwashed by this ad. Do a little research, Ford took several billion dollars (Six billion, roughly) from the federal government. They just renamed the bailout, calling it a "government funded securitization program". It irritates me that Ford played on the auto bailouts as a marketing scheme. They also asked for a line of credit, "just in case." And if you don't believe me, look at Ford's financial report.
@Tomcat418 (Part 1 of 5) Alright, I just did a search for "government funded securitization program" exactly as you have it and guess what, your posting here is the ONLY result.
While you are correct in stating Ford has taken a line of credit "just in case" I don't know of ANY corporation that doesn't have a line of credit or two at some point in it's existence. Do you have a credit card? Is that not a "line of credit"? You simply have plastic instead of "cash" in an account.(con’t)
@Tomcat418 (Part 2 of 5) In fact, if you know anything about purchasing and accounting, most with good credit buy on a NET 30 or NET 15 which means they receive the product and it is put on a line of credit which is paid in 15 or 30 days (before interest is accrued). (con’t)
@Tomcat418 (Part 3 of 5) So, after "doing a little research" I can say Government Motors and Chrysler (well, now Fiat) should have both declared bankruptcy, gone through restructuring using the courts (so long Unions), been broken into smaller companies if need be, and then...if they survive, wonderful. If they don't survive, then it opens the door for new U.S. auto manufacturers to be created, perhaps a non-organized company (a.k.a. no union). (con’t)
@Tomcat418 (Part 4 of 5) New companies buy manufacturing facilities sold under chp 11 along w/ the equipment. That’s how real Capitalism works. Now, I can almost guarantee tax payers won’t see full re-payment w/ interest from GM. In fact, I’ll state GM will be sold or out of business in under 10 years; once a non-progressive/socialist Executive & Legislative branch are in control (I include the last few years of President Bush in there as well as he was bailing out banks). (con’t)
@Tomcat418 (Part 5 of 5) So, while you think ppl are brainwashed, I think ppl are right siding w/ a company saying "we'll take our chances even if we have to take a loan ON OUR OWN."
When GM & Chrysler needed U.S. bailouts that's when we should have said they must file chp 11 & break apart if necessary.
The Chevy Volt is a TOTAL failure with just over 600 sold, all have been recalled due to the chance of fire. If Toyota can create w/o gov't assistance why can't the rest of them?
