  • also speed really isnt all that important if you have good movement

  • Ok there is a bunch of exacrating going on in these comments most ten year olds (competitve pitchers anyway) pitch from the mid fourties to low fifties and eleven year olds usually pitch around the same but a little lower then they did when they were ten because of the bigger ball. twelve year olds usually throw from low fifties to high fifties honestley in like oveer 200 games in 12u i have never seen anyone throw faster than 57mph and @ protizoea123 it doesnt matter if she bends her leg or not

  • wtf man.......dayme that's scary

  • wow thats really good

  • your my role model! im 10, ahha. i love your grunt! (not being mean) but i have a question.... why do oyu grunt after the pitch but not when you release? a girl on my team does that :)

  • omg! your my role model farrah! you pitch so good and who cares about that grunt (it made my day...) but very good!

  • omg the scream....? hehe made my day :) fantastic pitching farrah! im 10 and i think your my role model

  • nice :) who cares if u yell or grunt or whatever as long as u pitchin goood

  • well..i yell after my pitches too! so dnt feel bad! when i yell its bc i am letting all my air out of my lungs and it forces my to be faster! so dnt sweat it! keep up the good work!

  • people make fun of my grunt too. don't worry bout it :) you have a lot of potential!!

  • her back foot is bending. it needs to be straighned and it will go faster like 5 miles faster. trust me! im 12 and i can pitch 65 miles an hour. trust me ik!

  • @protizoea123

    65 mph!!!

    listen, your 12

cat osterman pitches in the mid 60's and shes like what 25?

dont lie to make it seem like your cooler

65 for a 12 year old, nice try but nobody believes you

  • Who gives a crap if she's screams ater she pitches?? Every pitcher has her own style. Lay off guys.

  • orgasms after every pitch I see.

  • why does she keep on screaming????

  • and you REALLY believe that i'm 27????

i'm not having a go at your pitching!! your pitching is good!

but your scream is soo unecessary!

  • when you pitch the ball it sounds like your havin a baby

  • wow wtf is with the scream? its really retarded and makes you look stupid

  • You say you are 27 years old on your profile? You are very immature for your age. Your mother should have taught you "if you can't say something nice, do not say nothing at all"

    You have a blessed day.

    Farrah

  • ohmuhgawdd farah i dont know you but you are amazing!!

  • her grunt is funny :)

i love grunting when i pitch though!.

    lool.

  • at our games our coach has us growling lol ur a good pitcher

  • nice pitching!

  • you're fucking stupid if I ever played against you I would laugh and then hit a homerun off that floater... put the ball down

  • I have no idea why you call me stupid but???

If you are really 27 years of age like your profile says then 1) you are very immature, and 2) I hope some day you will grow out of hating on people. You must be a very angry person.

I hope you have a great day, and good luck to you!!!!!

    Farrah

  • To be honest you are completely correct, I was in an awfull mood yesterday and I apologize for my statement, I am not 27 so I need to fix that, but good luck on your pitching and sorry for the inconvinience

  • actually that can't be called as distraction to the batter.

now if you were to pop your gum while pitching, you may get called on that ;]

  • in some leagues that would be illegal cuz it would be a "distraction to the batter"

  • everyone does that when they pitch. ok retards i do that but not as loud. yeah.

  • ya whatever, does EVERYBODY grunt?

    nooo.

    so shut up.

  • kelserrrX3 sounds like the idiot!

every pitcher grunts, and if u dont it means ur not oging hard enuff.

im 15 i can pitch between 60-65 and ive grunted since ive started to pitch at age 10.

    so its a good thing.

  • The yelling is fine, every pitcher does it. When you pitch though, don't step through with your right foot after releasing the ball.

  • uhm ya im 14 thank you very much : ] and i could hit off you fine.

  • yah i pitch and i dont "grunt" i feel like that is totally unnecessary. i think you should work on that.

plus u sound like an idiot.

  • I will not respond to your "idiot comment, I ould love to invite you to a batters box though, and after I sit you down, then I would ask you how much of an idiot do you think I am. I am now 14 years old. Surely you are not 23 years old acting that way, are you? But I would still offer you that same challenge. Batter Up!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dont worry about what anyone says, theres nothing wrong with a grunt when you pitch.... but just be careful because someone might get upset if its a while after your release... they might think its to distract the batter. Anyways keep up the good work, you look great! (btw im a softball pitcher too!)

  • it sounds like shes saying SHOT like shes ina b ball game...listen close

  • My 10yo daughter has had a grunt for 2 years when pitching. I notice when she doesn't grunt, she throws slower. I know she is really putting her full effort into the pitch when she does grunt. Her coaches all tease her, but when they see the increase in speed they generally encourage the grunt. The grunt is generally noticed upon release of the ball and for the comment about discouraging it, he has obviously never seen some top level pitches pitch in person, such as Lisa Fernandez.

  • There would be nothing wrong with the grunt or yell if it happened at the time of release instead of after. The "grunt" is actually caused when the force of contraction of the abdominal muscles is so great that air is expelled out past the vocal chords. This is simply yelling for effect.

  • You have to understand that this is video and sounds do not exactly match the motions. I understand what you are saying. I have tried to stop "grunting" but it is more of just happening instead of on purpose. I have been rideculed a lot on the mound for this. I will always be some sort of noise maker while I pitch, and by the way I grunt when I swing the bat, so I hope you do not think that is for an "effect" also.

    Farrah

  • yankeeG doesn't know what he's talking about. nice pitching

  • I disagree with yankeeG I have pitched all through high school and one many awards plus I pitch at the college level I do not know who informed you that the "grunting" is not allowed ever since I was 12 I have done this it helps me pitch faster (no joke) I can assure you that it isnt illegal to do this. I have played softball all over the United States and have never been told to stop. Not only is it effective but I intimidates the batter. KEEP GRUNTING GIRL

  • I coach Fast pitch, and on my team you would not be able to do that yell.

  • Why? What league do you coach? NSA, ASA, USSSA, AFA they all allow some intent yelling.

    Oh well

    Farrah

  • u are allowed to yell !

  • the grunts getting fucking annoying though

  • the grunts getting fucking annoying though

  • well good thing she isnt on your team...and why couldnt she do that yell??????

  • It's bush league. She does it well after she releases. It's clearly meant to distupt the hitter. If I was the opposing manager, I would be all over the Ump, and be taping it for the league offices.

And it just sounds DUMB, girl. I did not allow it on any of my High school teams. I coached/managed fast pitch teams, Men's and women's, for over 15 years.

Ond oh, that is not a 'grunt', from the gut, like when you row a boat- it's an "EEE-AT", well after the ball has left the

  • 1. you dont know me so dont call me dumb !!!your supposed to be someone a little girl can look up to.. so have some respect cause you sound like an idiot!!

    2. i have been playing softball for over 15 years

    3. if you are a good coach you should teach your batter to not listen to things that are happening around then and concentrate on hitting the ball...

  • how fast do u pitch ?

  • at the time only 48mph, now at 14 I top out at 57, but average 54-55, but I rely on my off speed, and movement since I am not a flame thrower.

  • Yelling uses the muscles in your trunk to provide more power as you twist and bring the ball to the release point. My daughter (11)does this off and on, but mostly only in a game. A wild guess, but I bet the improved form you're talking about is getting your drag foot planted faster, thus getting your hips through.

Check out Baileys vid's, and yeah you're doing great for 12.

  • holy crap!! that's really good!! yeah yelling is probably a good way to scare off the batter lol.

  • you are VERY good at 12. and for those who dont know, the yell is known as a kiup in martial arts, which is a short yell which causes a burst of power. for the one who said it is not necessary, you should try it, because it could make your good pitch great. and its very cocky/ignorant of them to say "i pitch and i know its not necessary." it might just be jealousy. dont sweat it, and good luck with whatever you're doing in softball.

  • thank you so much.

  • u are awesome! im a pitcher 2.. and u are really good!!!

  • I get y u yell i pitch and i dont quite yell like that but i completely understand that it helps you with momentom (spell?) but anyways you're really good for your age... WOW!!

    -Jess<3

  • Thank you for the compliment. I see this video now and think it is funny cause i have better form now i think.lol

  • k why do you yell? i pitch and i know its totally not necessary... ?

  • I used to do it when i first started to help me get it 30 feet.lol Then the more i tried to throw harder the louder it got, now it might just be habit. I once seen weight lifting on tv and seen they yell when the lift the weight?Sorry

  • im a pitcher too. and the yelling might not be necessary but it might help her pitch better. if she is pushing to stride as hard as she can then she might grunt or yell, thats just because of the effort she is putting into it. i grunt only when i am pushing as hard as i can.
