  • when I buy a dvd that has those latches I just rip them off,it doesint hurt it.

  • why u got cinderella????

  • wait Wait WAIT

JAMES IS WEARING A WEDDING RING?

SINCE WHEN THE FUCK IS HE MARRIED?

  • @Facepalm67 I think he mentions that he was married like 4 years ago. I know that because he mentioned his wife when he was signing the first avgn dvd copies

  • @alienvspredator444 I had no clue! :O

  • to be fair you are supposed to tear the little tabs off of cases like the Cinderella one

  • 1:25 break the DVD

  • Forgive me, if I sound like I'm copying him, but I assure you, I'm not. It's just a thought that occurred to me today while I was looking at movie-based games for the Wii on eBay. Heck, I'll probably submit this idea to him and maybe write the script to it as well. I have brothers and sisters that visit me all the time and even they hate the fact that most movie-based games are 1-player only. Thus, I reiterate and quote James Rolfe, "That's bullshit!!"

  • You know what's ELSE is BULLSHIT?! Movie-based video games (old, modern, and new)!! Movie-based video games are bullshit!! You wanna know why? Most of them are only 1-player only! What if you have little brothers or sisters or cousins (that visit you a lot) that love the movie and want to play the game based off of it (multiplayer, of course)?? But no, cause most of them are 1-player only!! Very few of them are at least 2-players, but there's too many that are 1-player only!! That's bullshit!!!

  • If they ever make teleport pads or time machines they better make them self-explanatory!

  • The only stupid dvd case is the ecofriendly one that does everything but protect the fucking dvd.

  • @arkmainable Fuck, I hate them with a passion. I miss the thick, heavy cases.

  • Well don't buy the collectors editions, you complete twat, ahahhaha get a life, you make videos about PACKAGING!!!!!!!!! Hahahaha

  • @MrTomdinho He makes money off of these videos. Your move dumbfuck.

  • @MrTomdinho Yea he made a video about packaging and he got 500k vies for it AND gets paid. You try doing something more meaningful and u probabably won't get many views OR get paid.

  • this video is bullshit

  • The small tabs on the cinderella case are a security feature, meant to make it harder to open the case without fully removing all of the packaging. They are not necessary to the end user. You can just twist them off if they bug you.

  • Honestly I wish the manufacturers behind those cases would have as much common sense as James.

The second season of The Sopranos has that same disc catch as your Back to the Future case but it's easy once you figure it out. The design of later ones you preferred takes up a lot of room and is only good for one-disc cases so they have to resort to stacking the discs that way to keep the boxes slim. Although it looks like those BttF discs might as well be double sided.

  • pfff small problems.. some people are homeless and have nothing to eat

  • @1997steste trolololololo

  • This guy is ranting about nothing.

  • "You know what's bullshit? Irate Gamer"

  • The last case is sort of a child lock. So it has some purpose.

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE SUGGESTED VIDEOS?????

  • why is every hating, because James is hating?

I love the Avatar case. It looks so good and high quality. How often do you open your case? Once a month maybe. Not every fucking day.

  • I am soooo tired if everyone who is confused about the extra, little clips. They are an anti-theft device, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. That's all they are. If you have ever worked at a place that sells dvds you know how easy it is to pop the case open and steal the disc. This is simply one more little step that makes it harder to be a criminal. Quit crying so much, there are starving people in Africa, and you don't know what real problems are

  • @bunnygrill It's all in good fun...don't take it so seriously

  • I hate those stupid latches! I can not tell you how many times i get blood blisters just by opening one stupid dvd case with latches. I'm going to call disney and ask WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU THINKING????!!!!!

  • great rant XD

  • Yes! The Back to The Future Blu-Ray is hard to take out, I was really afraid it was gonna break.

  • DO YOU KNOW WHATS BULLSHIT that you stopped numbering the bullshit videos

  • @Donkeygamers and it feels way more rewarding to be able to physically hold a DVD/Blu-ray.

  • @virtzilla Physical possessions are rewarding? That sounds like a really hollow life.

  • i have never thought that much about dvd cases.....you mad bruh?

  • Wow, nitpicking over dumb shit. It's obsolete technology. Really, physical media? Shit taking up space in your house? How archaic.

  • @cowtzu

    >Implying a hard drive is not physical

  • @Donkeygamers A hard drive full of movies takes up much less space. Digital media, whether streamed or stored, is not the same as physical, scratchable, space-hogging media.

  • @cowtzu

Downloading a movie takes longer than buying a DVD.

Exploring your DVD shelf is more fun than searching a hard drive.

If your harddrive gets compromised, you are fucked.

  • @Donkeygamers

A shelf full of DVDs shouldnt really occupy your whole living room, except if you live in a trash can

Not every TV has a USB port

Single DVDs are easy to catty

    A 'D'VD is digital.

  • @Donkeygamers Downloading a movie takes like 2 minutes. Buying one involves going to the store or waiting for it to ship. And it costs hard earned money, and they're priced outrageously new. Swapping DVDs isn't very convenient. And you should always back everything up, you can take precautions with a hard drive easily. The worst thing with a big collection is when you have to move, it's just not worth it. Would you haul around 500 VHS tapes? Same difference. They'll be dead soon.

  • @cowtzu ##A hard drive is expensive, a DVD is considerably smaller than a VHS, but you well, DVDs are Bullshit, and with a VHS, at least you can fast forward in style.

Downloading a movie takes around 1.5-2 hours on an average internet connection.

Renting a DVD, then copying it (don't tell me you would download all movies legally) is easier if you got a videostore nearby.

And having DVDs in your shelf, you can just grab and watch 'em.

You know, there's people who don't have a computer.

    Yarly.

  • @Donkeygamers There's also people that still have cassette players in their car, doesn't mean it's any less a dead technology. Video stores are dying, I'm not even sure where there's one anywhere around me, just red boxes. With a decent number of seeds and a typical cable/DSL connection, I download a movie in a matter of minutes. When I used to rip DVDs it took about 6 hours for one disc. And I never obtain movies legally anymore, personally.

  • @Donkeygamers And I don't find putting in discs, waiting through menus, finding the disc is scratched and won't play, or not being able to find where you put it, and changing discs every few episodes is easier than playing an AVI file. Maybe it's better in some ways, so was vinyl. But it's still a money hog and won't be supported forever.

  • @cowtzu

Final conclusion: You prefer hard drives to DVDs and I prefer DVDs to hard drives.

Could've told you that from the beginning.

  • @cowtzu Picture quality on DVD is always better than digital copies, so I'm the type of person that thinks quality over quantity. Yes, DVDs may be a hazzle (taking good care of them wouldn't be a problem), but they're always handy... though, if there's something not available on DVD, download it is.

  • @cowtzu so if i gave you 5000 dvds you wouldn't be bother or talking shit about them you would accept them?

  • @agentfire102 What? I have nowhere to put 5,000 dvds, that's ridiculous. I would tell you to keep them because I don't want to be burdened with stacks of dead technology.

  • There's instructions to make pop tarts too. Is the packaging too hard for you to open? Boo fucking hoo.

  • why has nobody questioned the fact that there is two jackie chan movies in this random selection of DVDs?

  • WTF the avatar case was dumb as hell! everything with the cases is dumb

  • LMFAO!!! a case within a case within a case of a case and another case of a case. INCEPTIONNNNNN!!!!! D:

  • Instructions on how to take a blue ray disk out.

Still fail to get the blue ray out.

    DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • What's with the breast augmentation vids? Jeesh...

  • As much as i agree with this movie. This is isn't news. It has been like this for a long time.

  • #FirstWorldProblems

  • I assumed the Cinderella case was like that because it is targetted at children, and is goes some of the way to preventing them from opening without an adult.

  • @Gavyn84 I dunno, you'd have to be a pretty stupid kid.

  • @Fagottron my 3 year old nephew has a fun habit of opening all the dvd cases, taking out the disks and then throwing them behind the tv were we cant get them, id say those clips are to protect the poor disks from this sort of thing.

  • @Gavyn84 I've never seen any R rated dvd's with those latches. Cinderella would be one of the last dvd's worthy of a child proof lock. It's also probably one of the last movies you wouldn't want your kids to open up and take to the sand pit and play with..

  • Maybe if you read the instructions you could take out the disk.

  • Simple way to fix the Avatar movie problem. Don't buy that one. I have the one with the normal case. It's your fault or buying it.

  • Then again, if I just download EVERYTHING instead of buying them >.>

  • I guess packaging makes the movie better?

  • @Fagottron Oh, let me guess.. Your making your remixes into bluray discs.

  • Why is there PORN in the related videos

  • @MandyLandy62 Its not porn

  • OH MY FUCKIN GOD I DIDN'T KNOW BLURAYS ARE PACKAGED IN THIS RIDICULOUS WAY! ABSOLUTELY BULLSHIT!

  • I think the queastion is: Why does he even own Cinderella?

  • @rs0wner301 Same reason he owns so many shitty games: He is a collector.

  • Its just a whole load of useless junk they put on top of it to justify a higher price.

  • There IS a reason for the locking tavs on the sides of some DVDs. Some people figured out how to pop the disk out of the holder and they make a slit at the end of the plastic covering and slide the disk out. So if security sees you messing with it, and go look at it, it is still in the wrap and you have a better chance of getting away. The tabs help keep that from happening.

  • The AVATAR packaging is just, balls...

  • Thumbs up if you got the durex vinyl ad!

  • that's like the japanese gamecube-cases.....

  • @BullenTheBullen2 okey--- not really xD

  • the latches aren't as wierd as the fact that you own cinderella on DVD.

  • @marooncanflyer You do realize he has a three year old daughter, right?

  • @tobitobide No he doesn't stop spreading lies you pathetic scum

  • @Deadlycovers Wow, way to be an asshole.

I just told what I heard, you pathetic insulting asshole scum.

  • "Whoops! Whoops! Whoops! YIPPEE! Whoops! YIPPEE! YIPPEE! YIPPEE! Whoops!"

  • @MultiUncensored It may be a bit of both.

  • @MultiUncensored Avatar is pretty good.

  • @MultiUncensored LOl what are you some fuckin hipster that hates everything popular, what a pretentious homo

  • @MultiUncensored

    No, it's not.

  • You know we're advancing incredibly as a human race when we need instructions to know how to take a disc out.

  • My 25th anniverary BTTF DVDs aren't that hard to get out. Maybe it's because I have the normal DVDs.

  • The UK Back to the future only has 3 discs :(

  • -Watches the video about Blu-Ray DvD's but notices one of the Suggestions: "Breast Augmentation...".....Makes sense to me...

  • @OrdonianGamer Not as bad as the comdom adverts...

  • @OrdonianGamer how does breast augmentation make sense to you

  • @codyrocker10 breasts,specially augmented,allways makes sense.

  • @Gudorift oh yes forgot they were boobs well im going to go watch it and masterbate

  • Wow, this is the worst episode I ever seen on Cinemassacre. Why do we have unnecessary stuff in packaging? Because to give information and protect the DVD, including Blu-Ray. DVD cases are fucking necessary.

  • @AlfredGamer1 uh did you miss the point? The Avatar blueray has 4 different cases, totally unnecessary, 1 case like the old DVD's is plenty to protect it.

Specially since the message of the movie was dont hurt the environment, but lets add a bunch of shit to the blueray case to strain the Earth's resources.

  • @AlfredGamer1 the point of the case is to protect the case, whats the point of protecting something that is already protecting something, if the case cant handle it then why the hell are they still using the case

  • woops. woops. woops.

  • I'm not worried about him having Cinderella... I'm worried about him having Avatar. What a piece of shit! What was he thinking!?

  • @SK8musicfeeling

he's an animator, why wouldn't he have that?

  • These type of packages are number one reason for scratched discs.

  • I still enjoy VHS, but after you record something onto DVD or probably Blu-Ray, there is no way to replace old data with new onto it. Am I using a write-only disc?

Another annoying thing is DVR. When I first got it, and when I had 5 hr. HD space / 33 hr. SD space left, its internal hard drive died. After I traded it for a replacement, and after recording a few hr. of data, when I installed an external one to it, the internal's data was deleted before I could save them. Bummer.

  • Those new DVDs/Bluray cases try to be cool or innovative and cheap and they fail miserably, really, when in the hell do you have hearing about instructions to pull out a freaking disc ?!

  • lol he keeps saying DVDs all the time

  • BEWBIES!!!!

  • yeah DVDs suck donkey dick i always like an idiot rent blockbusters and ther always scratched feather marks and dust always collect in their and it stops on my laptop...

  • I so agree.

  • ...boobs in the other videos....

  • You know what's bullshit?..................I don't know can you please tell us more James? More You know what's Bullshit episodes would be cool

  • I wonder if James has mental retardation if he really has trouble performing basic tasks, like opening up a case and taking out a disc.

  • @rumbazz To defend his case (no pun intended) the overlapping DVD ones are fucking retarded to get out.

Like he said, they feel as if they're going to break if not approached the right way in taking them out.

  • I hate those latch things like on the Cinderella box. I always forget to check and end up breaking the stupid box.

  • 1:49 some guy in the background saying blu ray haha

  • @lewie895 I dunno why but I feel like that's Motherfucker Mike.

  • @stupid fucking latches on Cinderella's package:

They're child-safety locks. Children's DVDs come with them so the children don't open the thing and ruin the DVD.

  • I still don't get why the disc cases are as tall as VCR tapes when the disc is far smaller.

  • @ZheTecXero most people had vcr stands.so you can put your dvds on them now.

  • i hate blue-rays, if sony didn't pay off most of the idiotic companies, we would be having the much better[altough tad bit more expansive] hd-dvds

i'm glad nintendo's not going to use blue-rays for the wii u

optical discs should die already, but blue-ray should've never existed

  • @RNorthex Personally, I think the future of games should be back to the game cartridges or in flash devices. They are much easier to use, less moving parts involved, and don't have to worry about scratching it that much.

  • @WickedArcAddict many ppl including me believe that flash devices are the future, altough eventually, everything will be web-based

cartridges were awesome, the 3ds is still using cartridges and thankfully there are hardly any annoying loading times due to that, but they are more expensive and the games are too becase of it

nintendo is planning to ditch physical copies entirely, steam already did a somewhat good job with it on the PC

trade-ins are a bigger issue than piracy

  • @RNorthex I like the idea of things going web based, but at the same time digital distribution is somewhat not a good thing plus not everyone can gain access to the internet. If you think about it, flash devices are soon becoming much more cheaper then what they were in the past few years. I can get an 8 gig memory stick at walmart for nearly $9, and a 16 gig for $20. I honestly prefer having a physical copy of software.

  • @WickedArcAddict i heard that expanding the vita's memory was quite costly

i like having a physical copy, but marketwise it's not a good thing, they are expensive and most ppl who buy them, trade it in which hurts the market

and ppl including me would probably buy some actual games if it were cheaper and you could download it online instead going for piracy

not everyone has internet connection, true, but 4g exists and other alternatives, soon it will be available in all devices

  • Comment removed

  • @WickedArcAddict the reason why i believe used sales hurt the overall is because the people who buy the used copies will not make any profit to the product's maker

simple explanation: there's a party, 10 people watch a new movie a guy bought, they've all seen the movie afterwards and probably none of them are going to buy it after that since they've already seen it

same with the games, played it, sold it back not going to buy it

it's only profit for the shops

  • @RNorthex Again, the movie industry and the game industry is NOT hurt by used sales. They make it sound like it is affecting them, but in reality it is not. Do you hear the movie industry bitching about blockbuster, netflix, and third party companies? No you don't. You'll hear the gaming industry complain, but again they are not affected by this. They make more money then the movie industry and that just proves my point. To take it further, watch this: watch?v=1MWC2tmnwC8

  • @WickedArcAddict actually, they are making piracy sound worse than it should be: blog-dot-wolfire-dot-com/2010/05/Another-view-of-game-piracy

that's the whole reason behind this SOPA/ACTA thing,

they gain money from netflix, bb etc as online streaming will replace TV anyway and majority of the cinemas

with steam, the gaming industry already eliminated the used copy problem, however, not the piracy and that's why they want SOPA/ACTA to go live, because they are greedy

  • @RNorthex Do you have skype because I'd like to have a audio chat with you over this.

  • @RNorthex The publishers only make money on the initial sale that the store performs, ie, the store buying the stock from the publisher. Everything sold IN store is profit for the store. In all reality, used sales actually allow more sales of new product, this is because resellers like gamestop sell their product for such high profit margins, this allows them to stock their shelves with more new products.

  • I actually care if the front cover gets scratched. Or well... If it's a game I do.

  • fyi megalon and biolante and 1985 you can only have dubbed in english if you keep the vhs tapes. Lucekly the differences between japanese biolante and vs megalon our some minor you won't even notice them.

  • The only DVD's I hate are the double sided DVD's. Like the ones that have the same movie on both sides, but one side is full screen and the other is wide screen. Like the Fat Albert DVD. Although, at least with them, if one side gets ruined, you can still watch the movie on the other side. The worst ones are when there's different movies on both sides of a DVD. Like the Tremors Attack Pack. It contains all 4 movies, but only 2 DVD's. So, if one side of a DVD is ruined, then I can never watch

  • @Ryanmiller70 the movie.

  • @Ryanmiller70

they also did that with ghoulies 1 and 2 and poltergist 2 and 3 all 3 dvd are bared bones. They also did that double side bull shit thing with two movies on different side with almost all of the english dub godzilla films that were released in the Hesiha series. except godzilla vs mechagodzilla . They also did that with Rebirth of mothra. Not only that but the third film mothra 3 is not even included.

  • @slagarcrue85 Exactly. I hate that shit. With the Tremors Attack Pack, just put 2 movies on one side of the disc and allow me to choose the movie from the menu or at least just give me 4 DVD's. DON'T FUCKING GIVE ME THIS SHIT WHERE I CAN LOOSE A MOVIE SO GOD DAMN EASY!!!!!!!!

  • Funny how 2 top comments are the asker and someone answered it.

  • that's why I keep a stack of discarded CD cases.

  • The DVD for Daria was the same as the back to the future case, i broke the packaging trying to get them out.

  • whoops...... whoops..... whoops.....

  • Don't forget about the Walt Disney Treasures DVD cases. They come in a case similar to Cinderella's, but thicker, AND with a complimentary aluminum case. They're awesome 'cuz they can't fit in your DVD rack! And they're bulky and cumbersome! And unnecessary! They're awesome! (gunshot rings out. 3brerfox slumps over dead.)

  • you should talk about buffering.

  • It's amazing how much extra packaging the Avatar Blu-Rays have since it was supposed to be an environmental movie.

  • @MrParanormalRob

    Irony, and away!~~~

  • the little black things are their to prevent someone from stealing the DVD!

  • @shoopoopie1 who gonna steal a cinderella dvd?

  • You should get the UK Blu-Rays, their packagings are much more simpler. I mean I'm surprised to say the least, why do you Americans have to make things so hard for yourselves, they're not collectors items?

  • lol at breast augmentation related video

  • I keep cringing when you say DVD instead of Blu-ray.

  • @ricpulanco

A BluRay is a DVD as well.

  • The ultimate edition Terminator 2 has the best packaging. It's made of metal. You can fight off a burglar with that damn case.

  • avatar is bullshit itself.

  • You know whats bullshit?!?! Those fucking Bluray/DVD/Digital Copy/3D/Shit combo packs. It's fine when a family film on Bluray comes with a DVD to shut their little shit corn children up in the car, but when you include it with films like "Silence of the Lambs", "The Hangover", "A Clockwork Orange", and other films, THAT'S BULLSHIT

  • When you were 'throwing' the outside sleave away I counln't help but think of all the NES packaging we all regretful tossed in the trash.

  • James, it's called packaging design :-) And yes sometimes "innovative" packaging design makes for annoying consumer handling as you described.

  • triple play is bullshit

  • YKWBS?

The entertainment industry thinks that charging 3x the price of a DVD is really worth paying for considering all you get is sharper screen which can be done with setting the color on your tv to max sharpness, and here we all are on a website that gets a bajillion views a day and the majority of what we see is not only cheap, but in low & dated resolution

  • I want this video on my 5610 XpressMusic unit.

  • and that's why we download stupid SOPA and SIPA

  • why not just simply cut the tabs off?

  • Why does he even have cinderella any way?

  • @Gamertron3000 Why the fuck don't you? Cinderella is boss.

  • @X8802 That just made my day.

  • @Gamertron3000 Why is there a breast examination in the related video bar?

  • @Gamertron3000 well he is married so maybe he has a daughter or his wife like's it or something

  • @Gamertron3000 He has a wife I believe. So it could be her's.

  • @Gamertron3000 Maybe it was Mikes :)

  • @Gamertron3000 Maybe it's his wife's.

  • @Gamertron3000 well he likes some disney films so thats obvious or its his wifes who knows .

  • @Gamertron3000 Atleast it wasn't bratz -_-
