Look at Churchill In the north of Canada we have polar bear jail for the bears that come to close to town , dart gun cones out bear gets darted off to jail.
We do relocating all the time, even for black bears as there are many of them, the only time we shoot them is if a person is at risk. Iceland could have been a little more pro active and had a plan of action in place if ever

We had a similar situation in northern MN. A brown bear had gotten its head stuck past its ears in a plastic candy jar and was wandering around a suburban area. There was enough room for him to breathe, but not to eat. The obvious choice was to remove the jar, but no one wanted to get close to its sharp claws, and there was no tranquilizer gun available. The sheriff and his deputies put it down with rifles. There was a stink about it, but what choice was there?

The problem with shooting a bear in the head is it has such a large nose that you will most likely miss the bear and blow out the nose. It will still be alive and suffer for far longer than a Vital Shot will make them suffer for.
The bear would have died from starvation or broken into someones house searching for food (possibly leading to a fatality of a human, and then the inevitable fatality of the bear) so this was the humane thing to do, what are they gonna do, make a trail of kibbles and bits to a cardboard box and capture it, FUCK NO, so the only choice was to end its misery. Cycle of life.....

We had a similar situation in northern MN. A brown bear had gotten its head stuck past its ears in a plastic candy jar and was wandering around a suburban area. There was enough room for him to breathe, but not to eat. The obvious choice was to remove the jar, but no one wanted to get close to its sharp claws, and there was no tranquilizer gun available. The sheriff and his deputies put it down with rifles. There was a stink about it, but what choice was there?

Why did these stupid dumbass, herd of headless people had to shoot the poor creature? They could have given him a shot of sedative or a tranquilizer and may had caught hold of the animal and later on re-habiliate to where it come from?

I am not saying the correlation is exactly direct, but think about it. People jumped to save Vick's dogs, but always debate about helping kids in need. Your priorities are mixed up.

Just curious, who was the first to ask if it was starving anyhow? Now, i'm just saying, if we can send millions upon millions in aid to other countries, surely our gov't could set places up for occasions like this. I am a hunter, but I am full out against bear hunting. I see both sides of the argument here. I think gov't officials are to blame here. Instead of giving our tax dollars away, start and enforce a proper conservation program. Sad to say, my good OL Canadian gov't doesn't give a fuck.

Well, if this were a wild deer, we would probably have let it be. But this was no deer. This was a POLAR BEAR. Polar bears have eaten humans, especially if they're hungry like this one. Another Polar bear came in 2009, and the shepherd who ran into him was lucky to be carrying his sniper rifle. He might have been killed had he not.

God i hate this. Yes it couldve killed a human but we are killing them the only reason there swimming so far and ending up there is cos of the ice melting and thats due to us. The problem with shooting a bear in the head is it has such a large nose that you will most likely miss the bear and blow out the nose. It will still be alive and suffer for far longer than a Vital Shot will make them suffer for.

The bear would have died from starvation or broken into someones house searching for food (possibly leading to a fatality of a human, and then the inevitable fatality of the bear) so this was the humane thing to do, what are they gonna do, make a trail of kibbles and bits to a cardboard box and capture it, FUCK NO, so the only choice was to end its misery. Cycle of life.....

how do people know that this bears fur and meat wasnt used. If we let every animal in the world repopulate then our world becomes over populated. Animals can reproduce faster than us and if they dont die there will be to many of them. Its strict survival. I will admit though this should have been handled a different way being that polar bears are a very distinct and unique animal
