  • umm, cut your nails

  • QUESTION: what do innovation EN-! and EN-2 Security keys do?

  • you can use fire service quietly by calling it to your floor then activating it

  • Lol "This is the Comfort Inn in..."

  • Ah very helpful. I'm writing a thriller involving a skyscraper invasion and this video has been immensely helpful.

  • were do u get the elevator keys

  • why turn it in to bypass before off?

  • Thanks for showing the inner workings of your elevator. :) Are you the manager or were you the person who got permission from the manager?

Was one of the factors because the hotel wasn't very busy at the time minimizing problems?

  • Hi!

  • VERY Cool motor on this elevator. :)

  • Hey where can i get a fire emergancy key like that?

  • how did you get permission to do that

  • @azcade101 I know the people that run the place.

  • Great vid

  • No offense, but please cut your fingernails.

  • @LanHikari90 your not his mom

  • @SuperUTBER No, but I'm watching his videos and besides interesting elevator stuff I don't like what I see.

  • EPIC MOTOR :O

  • What happens if you press call cancel whi;le the elevator is moving?

  • @SuperUTBER Than I guess... You're stuck between floors

  • Westinghouse Indicator

  • Im terrified of elevators :\

  • @RandomGuyThing2 No need to be, they are a lot safer than they were years ago.

  • What is bypass?

  • @TheDaniel500 Bypass is actually used for operating the elevator during an actual fire. With some elevators, after the fire system has been activated (usually through smoke or heat sensors), it will disable the elevator from operation. Turning the key to bypass will allow the elevator to operate the same as it would if it were in normal service.

  • Where do you get all the keys for the lifts

  • How would this work if the elevators "door close" button didnt work? Would the door even close?

  • @TheAstroFromPolution No it wouldn't but since the elevator in normal service would not be rendered inoperable if the door close button broke, no one is going to complain about it. However, I believe that when an elevator is inspected that the door close buttons are checked-at least I would think they'd check them since they're needed for fire service.

Door close buttons are no more likely to break than any other but they're more likely to be left un-repaired for a long time.

  • Would this call the fire dept or put a trouble on the fire alarm panel?

  • @msj191961 I would think it might put a trouble on the panel and that is why I am scared to do it my self!

  • k, if the elevator's fire key is turned to on,and there's no key in it, is that bad?

  • Could you do a video on the man-powered lift you annotated in the beginning?

  • BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  • @dieselducy Annoying buzzing at 2:39

  • Comment removed

  • what is a drop key?

  • @agentz100 its a key you can open the outside door with when the elevator is not there. its bad because someone could come along, open it and fall down the shaft.... not real pretty...

  • @N617A i figured out soon after i posted but thanks and yes it would be bad

  • What is the fire service purpose?

  • Two things. 1) Love the sound of the hydraulic motor! 2) Where on Earth do you get the Fire Service keys???

  • @nospeakamericano97 They are floating around on Ebay

  • I never seen a Virginia Elevator. Nice work on fire Service.

  • Excellent demonstration here DD. You would make a great teacher. You can tell great teachers when you see and hear them & you are definitely one of them. ***Good job!!!***

  • do u work as an elevater inspector or something?

  • Why do you have to turn it to bypass before you turn it to off?

  • AWESOME demo

  • where did you get the key

  • Are there any videos on YouTube showing what happens when the Open Door button is pushed while the elevator is moving? I've always been curious.

  • @HardDriveGuru Nothing. The doors will never open unless at a floor.

  • @OfficerNelson Nice! I'll have to try it to observe the nothingness. x3 Thanks!

  • @HardDriveGuru Nothing. It is ignored.

  • @rabbinics ebay or do a google search.

  • what kind of elevator is this

  • Cool! I wish there was a non-emergency version of fire service

  • @Vanool35 independent service can be similar.

  • wait y is the cat between the entrance and that. it might of ran away. but luv the cat.

  • If you press call cancel while traveling between floors, will you stop in between floors or continue up to your floor?

  • @blakstermc

    At the nearest floor

  • @ericcub7 Thanks

  • @blakstermc It stops at the next landing possible, even if that is your floor.

  • what kind of elevator was that?

  • what would happen if you would leave your foot out of the elevator when it is closing would it just crush it ?? or open again ?? or would it go up with your foot hanging out please answer.

  • @themaniscool100 Well it wouldn't be pleasent but no serious injury will result. the door might keep trying to close but it wouldn't be strong enough to do any damage. But you'd have to hold down the button for it to keep closing (or trying to close)

  • Which elevator was it? Dover? Montgomery? Thyssenkrupp? Otis? Kone? That elevator is in fire service. AND AT 2:45 I HEARD A FIZZ BUZZ!

  • Comment removed

  • this it`s a Dover? a Otis? a tyssenkrupp? a beatiful elevator.

  • Comment removed

  • can the elevator recall even if its stuck?

  • Probably not

  • I happened to have the building manager right there with me. Anyway they are floating all over ebay, the REAL hazard is the "drop keys" floating around! Also do you know anything about what certifications I have or don't have, anyway. I too am concerned about public safety as well.

  • I know you are not certified because in other threads you have asked about the process in which one would become certified and how to start the process to become a valued I.U.E.C. technician. You don't know proper nomenclature for components,I know there are a lot of people who wish they were elevator/escalator technicians. However, please leave the troubleshooting and repairing of these machines to the trained professionals who get paid to do their job.

  • @redneckelevatorman and what exactly did he do in this video that could pose any kind of danger to other passengers or possible damage to the elevator? The only thing I can think of is an inconveniece to other people not being able to call it.

  • @dieselducy Drop Keys are dangerous but what harm will you do by turning off a fan????What will the elevator explode.

  • If the building MANAGER says that he can do the Fire Safety Test then DieselDucy has every right to it. Calm down, Redneckelevatorman!

  • @redneckelevatorman What the heck does the fan have to do with anything!

  • @Technology2412 He switched the fan on, it wasn't on when he got in the car. There could have been a malfunction with the fan or related circuit. The light/fan is 110vac and I have worked on elevators where the fan had shorted to ground and electrified the cab frame assembly causing people to get shocked when they touched metal panels inside the car.Not all elevators are properly grounded to protect from this happening and not all elevators are properly isolated from the structural car "sling"

  • @redneckelevatorman the fan was originally on before I started the video. I was simply restoring it the way i found it. This was done with permission and under supervision of the Hotel owner.

  • @redneckelevatorman No it's not. I own every elevator key known to mankind, but only need a few for work. You can load and shoot someone w/ an elevator key. Diesel can own as many elevator keys as he can buy & store.

Now, in some major cities like Chicago or NYC, they use a single fire key for all elevators. (It's law for high rises.) If you buy one of these keys & use them in a high rise elevator & get caught, they can arrest you. If it were illegal, you'd better lock me up along with DD.

  • @aa9g1 I can just see it now: "This is the Elevator Squad!--Put down your elevator keys slowly with your fingers off those fixture buttons! You are under elevator arrest!" Nip it in the bud! (Quote from Barney Fife).

On the charge of conspiring to commit elevator key tampering, we the people of the State of Virginia find you, the defendant, Diesel Ducy, guilty on all accounts. We sentence you to take the stairs for a period not to exceed 5 years. (dun-dun-dun!!!) (Dragnet 2011).

  • @aa9g1 Run Diesel, run! The elevator cops are hounding you down! They have a drop-key warrant for your elevator!

  • @aa9g1 But you can't get arrested for doing fire service on another elevator in a small (2-story) building right?

  • i was in the monumental hotel orlando FL And i was running into the elevator away from my sister And pressed the button to ring the fire service HAHA

  • Cool demo.

  • where do u get all ur keys??

  • can you try the stop swith when the elevator movin.. Maybe on DOVER in the Market Garage=)

  • where do you get your keys?

  • You never did explain

whats the key below the OPEN DOOR button there is a TRIANGLE and Circular shape outlined in Red?

  • thats the alarm button

  • @CWM480 it might be the stop/run key

  • The cat is so cute like my cat Emily

  • Very cool that the hotel has a resident cat. You mentioned the door safety device is disabled in fire service. Since this elevator has an electric eye, is it the same deal with an elevator that still has the old bumper?

  • In Phase I recall, only the bumper will work. Ih Phase II operation mode, no safety device (even the bumper) works.

  • @FranceHopper In recall mode, the bumper should work, but when the button is being held down to take the elevator to another floor in fire service, ALL door reopening devices are disabled. That's why the button must be held down - for safety reasons in case someone tried to reopen the door.

  • It's interesting that they have a resident kitty?

  • ....and the safety sensor on the door is ignored for good reason. Back in 1975, I think, there was a fire in a building and a girl tried to take the elevator in order to escape but the SMOKE that was entering the cab kept the doors from closing because the sensors were being triggered to keep them from closing and the girl died.

It was after this that I began seeing 'In case of fire" notices in the elevator halls.

Now the basement is restricted but if it's on fire.....

  • I also heard the reason elevator's should not be used in fires was when they had the heat-sensitive buttons. Fires would trigger the elevator to an engulfed floor, causing the rider to become trapped (elevator always on call).

  • And also because the fire may cause the power to be cut off and the elevator becomes stuck. This happened in L.A. back in the 80's in a high rise that had a fire. A fireman was trapped in an stalled elevator and got his goose cooked.

  • That's the best reason of all.

    Man-Powered Elevators are okay.

  • Did you get permission, or what?

  • i had permission.

  • Thats good. Though, I wonder why anyone would let some random dude to have permission to randomly put their elevator in fire service mode for a video. But, oh well

  • Free advertisement or bordem probably.

  • I stay in that hotel regularly and know the management..

  • Ok. That explains it all.

  • that was a LOUD buzzer at the beginning!

  • howd you do this without staff seeing you?

  • Maybe he got permisson..

  • Very nice. I did not know you could send the cab back down by setting the cab fire switch to off.

  • Nice collection of keys.

  • Great vid!

  • Are all keys the same?

    5*

  • Cool.. they let you have the fire key?

  • Very nicely done!

  • thank you!!

  • Love the ending, cute little thing.

  • that was cool
