Burton sings so out of key live that it's disgusting...
Burton and Dino are two dickheads anyways. Kicking out Christian and Herrara like that.
Dino has issues with every member of every band he's ever been in. Fat fuckin diabetic needs to chill out and realizes he's the reason why arguments start with bands he's in.
@pcrvg0808 It's not the BPM or the complexity all the time - it's about the song. Even though i think lars is a cock, he plays what's need for the song. No more no less. That makes it impressive.
@JEKAZOL i dont believe lars is as much of a dick as some people think but i really appreciate that your not blinded by the fact that you dont like him. most people hate him and talk crap about his playing just because they hate him. and your right, its not always about BPM. its people like you that i respect, you are intitled to your own opinion but your still giving respect to where it belongs. I, for example, dont really like judas priest but i still respect them as musicians.
@BryceIbanez17 True. If you don't get the flow and the dynamics - holding back and knowing when to flip out, all the technique and speed don't count for shit. \m/
@pcrvg0808 well metallicas music isn't really the same as fear factory. i doubt the fear factory sound is comparible to "mama said". with respect to burton c bell , most people would say james hetfield pulls off vocals live better
@pcrvg0808 i would also say that gene hoglan although really tight and amazing with the pedals isn't as creative as he used to be. if you listen to individual thought patterns album back in '93 he was completely crazy, doing the weirdest stuff.
@JEKAZOL Well, Burton for example is 20 years older than me, as he was born in 1969 and I was in 1989. And Dino is from 1966, Byron 1969 and Gene 1967.So perhaps you're right, I'm a young motherfucker :D but what I mean is they can't have the same energy as another younger band, but they're still great and I'm waiting for a date I can see them in live !
@lucifersam01 You did your research on the answer. You are a spring chicken! Enjoy it while you can! Speaking from experience: I couldn't imagine that one day I would have tendonitus and find playing the guitar difficult. Enjoy that show when it comes around too... with a big fat reefer.
@jellehenk His voice is probably just worn out from doing a lot of death growls for while. It takes its tole trust me haha thats why it sounds better in the studio rather than on stage, you get to rest your voice for a while
eh of course Burton can be compared to Broadrick because despite the fact that I like the oldschool work and this last recent effort his a boosted version of him.
Don't worry about his performances, he had better ones performing other tracks from this album and previous ones so I guess it's bad luck and some underestimating sport
I often wondered the same thing and my current theory is that the majority of the time when he performs, he's drunk. The one time I was sure he was sober while singing was at the Revolver Metal Award show. He made it clear pre-show that he wouldn't drink till after they performed and his clean vocals were a lot better. I'm sure a lot of other times, those high clean vocals are just too much for his vocal chords to handle though. His vocal music is challenging stuff.
@Schatje79 challenging? are you kidding me? I love Burton C. Bells (no homo), but his clean singing is not challenging, especially when you take into consideration the fact that he does pretty much directly rip off Justin Broadrick's voice box and melodies, which are very, very simple.
The problem is, I wasn't just talking about his clean singing alone being challenging. You have to keep it in context. Bell's screaming coupled with clean vocals is incredibly challenging to perform, especially when you're doing it for a couple hours and many, many times a year. As for the comparison to Broadrick, well...I don't really dig his stuff so it's easy for me to make the distinction between the two of their styles and preferences in music.
@XXXJacka1XXX i don't understand why people even compare FF and Slipknot... FF has been around for a long, long time. People seem to forget that Soul of a New Machine was released during the time Obituary, Morbid Angel, Testament and all those other bands were big, when shit like Slipknot didn't even exist, and would never have existed if it wasn't for Fear Factory.
@DenOfWhasps Yepp, And I hate when people compare mushroomhead and slipknot too. two different bands, two genres of music. We all here like metal so lets see it that way. and Great point, i agree.
Im more of a FF fan then Slipknot, no offense to them.
Why dont Burton just get a good singing coach so he can do awesomely live, corey taylor used to go bad during live shows and now corey obliterates with his singing, Fear Factory sounds incredibly heavy and amazing on the albums and i love em but to be truly honest Burton's cracking voice kind of takes away from what everyone else contributes to the performance. No hate towards them tho Ive seen em like 5 times and ill see em again and again until im grey
@skyshock21 When it comes to actually singing with a clean voice, this guy absolutely sucks! It's not the monitors because there are multiple concerts where the vocals are terrible when its not yelling. I agree though, my ears puked. Actually I have to stop the video now.
Metallica and Fear Factory are my two favs. Wish I could've been there! At least I'll get to see Fear Factory on May 30 at the Alrosa villa in Columbus, OH!
@GeneralAjaxus Slipknot have put on an awesome live performance consistently unlike Fear Factory. I saw Slipknot last back in 2008 on the All Hope Is Gone Tour... was fantastic (R.I.P Paul)
Find me one Live performance where Burt doesn't sound like shit.
I love Fear Factory to death, but seriously... would you get up on stage and do that performance if you knew how shit it sounded?
@MetalHeadFilipeG96 I'll agree with the growls/screamo bits, but yes... the melodic stuff is fkin terrible.
I've seen a few bands Live, but I must say: Disturbed put on one hell of a show. Dave winds the crowd up something stupid, it's fantastic! AC/DC and Machine Head are right behind Disturbed when it comes to crowd participation :P
Ive never seen any band i like live, so i never saw any of those badns unfortunaly, but from videos and people ive talked to, their shows must be amazing, still i think the best live bands are Iron Maiden and Slipknot, although i never saw any

I don't think it's bad singing, but it's in different tune than the studio (and Burton did worst before :D ).
But this guys are starting getting old now, but they still have some great energy to give, and damn they're awesome and I'm a big fan !

He's pretty good live, actually. He struggles on his cleans but that's usually dependent on how drunk he is and how tore up his vocals are.

fuck i love fear factory but burton looks like he either needs singing lessons or to stop being lazy!
he looks like he is putting no effort whatsoever.
disappointing. saw them live this year in the uk and he sang so much better than the crap that is all over youtube right now!
sheppaow91 1 year ago
Why the fuck Burton sings ALWAYS completely out of tune (and often out of time!!!) since FF started the mechanize tour???
He used to be A LITTLE BIT detuned with clean vocals in the past, sometimes more sometimes less but, jesus fuckin christ, this is embarrassing!!!!
Get a ear monitor Burt!!
It's a regret for me to hear that, I fuckin love FF and their amazing latest work MECHANIZE.

Corey Taylort is awesome, but hes nowhere near as good as the EXTREMELY underrated amazing singer Burton C Bell
the same goes for Slipknot and Fear Factory, both are awesome but FF is alot better

Burton C Bell sounded alot better in the 90s, but ya his clean singing live has never been as good as in the studio albums
still Fear Factory is amazing live, the only problem is Burton singing the clean parts, the growls and screams he can do perfectly
and i agree that Slipknot are amazing live, theyre the 2nd best band live for me after Iron Maiden
