The intro reminds me very much on Pink Floyd. But there are connections, I learned, so.... Personally I prefer his pieces with more rhythm (Lucifer etc.)
Nicely done. I haven't heard this song in years... but I am going to dig through my cd collection tonight until I find my copy of "On Air"! I used to love this disc-- your video is as mesmerizing as AP's music. In fact... I thought this WAS the music video put together by the band until I read the comments beneath the clip. Well done!
Funny, that Alan wrote most of the instrumentals, and Eric the really impressive songs before. After Eric left, we see that Alan can also compose much more than his (rightfully) trademark instrumentals.
Eric's voice is even great on this track. Love the album from Alan. It's a shame Eric, Graham, Lol and Kevin do not use their unbelievable talents together. They are the ones copied by Queen with their operatic sound and more intelligent music. Listen to One Night in Paris and hear how Queen used their sound in Bohemium.
Strepitosa canzone, interpretata magistralmente da Eric Stewart. Eccellente anche l'apporto di Ian Bairnson (in particolare dal minuto 3 e 5 secondi al minuto 3 e 35 secondi). Ovviamente 5 Stelle.
I agree - EXCELLENT work. Too bad about the jump-cut @ the canyon (guessing someone stepped in front of the lens?). But still a very good interpretation.
As i fly for a living (and almost died in a near mid-air collision last week), THIS is the kind of thing i'd like to have shown at my funeral (which i hope, will be a LONNNG way off).
I've always been a big fan of APP, but especially of the 'On Air' release - for obvious reasons.
I don't really know where they taken this images. I found the video (in a very high definition) surfing on the web. But, yes, I think it should be taken in Hawaii.
Hmmmm. If I ever get a digital camera (I will, eventually), I will shoot some more cloud scenes for you to put on your fantastic Youtubes!
Haleakala is over 10,000 ft. on this island. Those of us who wake up at 3 in the morning, to drive up there... get to look down on the cottony beds of purple clouds, as the sun rises. It is spectacular (and cold!).
@cldbrks I am no great astrolager but I am sure some one with that knowledge could tell you exactly where thes were done. I think I see Orion at 441 in the right half which would put this in the Northern Hemisphere. But I could be wrong I have little knowledge of the southern skies.
@faustolg Actually, I think this song isn't about flying a balloon. It's about life, and the balloon is just the representation used on the album art. Think a little deeper and you will probably even enjoy the song more ;)
@faustolg Not so much yet. I just found out about AP a couple weeks ago and this album just arrived in the mail. I don't know how I haven't heard any of this stuff before, but having a good time figuring it out!
specially Tales of Mystery and Imagination, Edgar Allan Poe, both versions (1976 and 1987) they are amazing!
also get Eric Woolfson's Freudiana, which is the "missing project", it was made after Alan Parsons Project disolved, but Allan Parsons did this album helping his ol' pal.
This is such a good song. I still can't believe this did not make airplay--I've never heard of it until stumbling across On Air here at YouTube recently. Haunting, wistful, melodic, soaring lament equal to APP's best, and reminiscent of the best of Pink Floyd also. Thank for the excellent video as well!
Complimenti Enrico! You made again a beautiful video for an On Air track! I share this with my APP YT friends, and put it in my complete OA playlist as well..

Gli interventi solistici di chitarra in questo brano sono strepitosi. Molto suggestivi.

Much of this melody sounds just like Peter Gabriel + Kate Bush's 'Don't give up'.

There is a lack of a balloon POV, remember BBTW is a song about flying a balloon.
sorry only 4, but excellent effort.

@Rib5 Of course it's about the life and how it' is lived, I know that since I bought the album the same year it came out!!
But remember AP music has several meanings, even a literal one. I just point out a minor detail on the video.
Have you noticed the literal meaning in all the songs, btw?

@Rib5 My advice: get them all!!!
specially Tales of Mystery and Imagination, Edgar Allan Poe, both versions (1976 and 1987) they are amazing!
also get Eric Woolfson's Freudiana, which is the "missing project", it was made after Alan Parsons Project disolved, but Allan Parsons did this album helping his ol' pal.
enjoy them!!!! :)

I'm certainly glad you mentioned Pink Floyd in your comment because this song reminds me of The Pink Floyd song Time.
