i watch this nearly all the time, im a nurse and its become of people like cliff young that i choose to work with older people. It may be harder work but that generation is just beautiful and its sad to think that in a few years it will be lost
what a true aussie legend, wish i could have met him and spoke to him. Its strange in this video and all the others I have seen, they all have him doing his slow shuffle but to run a 3 hour marathon you gotta be at a pretty good pace( e.g a shuffle would be too slow)
I have lots of 'Cliffy Story's"(as do most people who came across him), but I only meet and spoke to him onced.
At one Melbourne Marathon, I was struggling somewhere around the 35km mark, and this old guy in tracksuit pants with holes cut in them came past, and just keep on going. I ran about 3-08, so he run faster. I didn't know who it was, but 6 months later he won the Sydney to Melbourne, so running close to 3hrs at 60 years of age, is not a bad days work.
I want this video on my MIO 8390 unit.

Cliff Young was a vegetarian. A true Aussie who had respect for animals. Rare in Australia and very inspiring.

It was a 875km ultra-marathon, not a regular 42km marathon. The slow but consistent shuffle is what won him the race

Cliffy wasn't a myth, and you are obviously too young to have lived through the running scene of the 1980's.
Cliffy seemed to be on TV every other week running somewhere.
