  • so basically in their first concert they played for three and a half minutes, and fucked around for another 5? Gotta love Nirvana. Btw, this song is great, it should have been released on Bleach!

  • GOD IS GAY

  • when i saw foo fighters at Milton Keynes they brought out seasick steve and apparently he was at nirvanas first concert haha !

  • The guy below me doesn't know music

  • they suck lmao

  • @grungecollectorSCE you suck at trolling

  • @minielk454 how was i trolling?

  • this would have been an awesome tune with a good producer - you can hear a little teen spirit in it.

  • this is pretty kool i wonder y Nirvana or books on Nirvana ever said that they recodered the first concert?

  • It was on 17/1987, by the way

  • lol they suck

  • @grungecollectorSCE i know but this was early days

  • @grungecollectorSCE you suck

  • Is this really Nirvana's first concert? If so, can anyone tell me what day it is?

  • @CoonMike this really is nirvanas first show and it was 3/07/87

  • @CoonMike it's october 6th..

  • @grungecollectorSCE No it's not, it's March 17th.

  • @CoonMike no....? it;s November 5th..

  • @grungecollectorSCE ? Stick with your previous answer foo...the notes on "With the lights out" says "First Concert March 17th, 17 Nussbaum Road, Raymond, WA" They also played a Led Zeppelin cover "Heart Breaker" that's the first track on that album.

  • @CoonMike bro.. it's november 8...

  • @grungecollectorSCE It is common knowledge that Nirvana's first concert was on March 17th, 1987...if this is the first concert...then that's it.

  • @CoonMike yup... but today's date....it's november.......

  • There must of been more

  • woah thats awesome, i wanna be in a band like that ahahahaha

  • This version is the best of the song.

  • if this is supposed to be kurt and kris first show in r e d m o n d im not convinced charles cross knows what the fuck he is talking about. the whole book seems to be pointed at kurts suicide as if anyone could have seen it coming. he had a rough life just like the rest of us.

  • @ih8ericthemidget they played at the bronx in edmonton.

    bronx66

  • lol...that first comment made me laugh

  • hahaha daves (or maybe it wasnt dave back then) is so unnecesary for grunge and nirvana in general lol... dave ended up using one of the smallest kits ever once they hit it big

  • @AIC2374 nah, it was Chad Channing back then

  • Kurt blinked

  • got a haunted feeling

  • was this the show at the party then

  • Love Love Love this

  • other fun thing is the song from this picture is If You Must and it has more views than the actual video for the song, and it has more views than some Nirvana songs that are on albums, like aero zepellin, downer, floyd the barber, turnaround, etc... etc...

  • only Nirvana can play in freeze mode and still sounding good

  • @PivotMakeranimations

Nope.jpg. Between the Buried and Me is the best example.

  • @filipeHouseMusic If You Must

  • god bless who recorded this

  • @savioassis5

    Right there with ya.

  • sorry, not chad, wrong vid. here, it s aron. chad was with the immigrant song. :o)

  • @manhuntruler2 d love to write about himself instead of seeing all this press stuff being ridiculous and harmful but he wasn t able to, he was able to translate in music and lyrics. please, don t believe anything els. and don t believe courtney had an impact on him, she didn t . nobody did have. kurt was within his own realm. that s what made it impossible for him to live on. but the years he did live wereprecious now weren t they?? love, charlotte

  • @manhuntruler2 hi, please avoid reading these books and avoid following people telling you about courtney or others. the truth about kurt is and stays in his music, he had so much emotion inside he couldn t bare it, he translated it into music for you just for you he used to say that all the time, he said he

  • Really wish this was the actual video.

  • it was i think 10 march :P

  • Sounded pretty damn good. Guess I'm not surprised.

  • What do u people and fans of Nirvana think is the BEST and the has the most TRUTH about Nirvana in books. I know their is a few Nirvana based books. But i dont wanna read misleading information. Thanks.

  • @manhuntruler2 read Heavier Than Heaven by Charles R Cross - he interviewed just about everybody that met kurt...Courtney and his mum even gave it good reviews

  • @MegaUglyface If Courtney likes it then their must be some Bullshit she made the guy put in there... But i will go with that Book :) Thanks

  • i read of this in heavier than heaven

  • @JackRuskin and me xD

  • @cupcake3mo its a great book :)

  • @JackRuskin it is indeed im currently reading it again... for the 19th time its a great read and always lifts my spirits i read this bit just yesterday lol

  • @JackRuskin I don't think so. The only one for me to make Nirvana's biography is Everett True.

  • 4:32 i remember reading this off of "Heaver then Heaven" when Krist yells "hey who gots some pot?" and a audience member says that he should just stick to the alcohol....

  • goodddamn kurts voice is amazing in this.these people in the crowd were retards id give a standing ovation to them.they dont even clapp

  • lol, i don't think kurt wanted to play 'heartbreaker'. 'how many more times' would have been better. the audience is like a little kid who goes, "mommy mommy mommy... mom mom mom.... mommy mommy mommy..."

    what!!!!

    watch me hold my breath.

mommy mommy mommy... mom mom mom.... mom.

    mom.

    mom.

    mom.

    what!!!?

    "play hearbreaker".

    no!

  • @briancwoodall you mean your parents ?

  • I always knew i'd end up at Nirvana's 1st concert.

  • Whos on drums at this point Aaron?

  • Why does this video have half a million views, WHILE the Rhino Records video which shows Kurt in motion has barely 100,000. Both were in around the same era.

  • @brightlights456X cause your obviously gonna get people searching nirvana first concert especially if theyre just getting into theyre live recordings

  • In this early stage of the band's history, we see that they played in "frozen style", staying in the same pose through the whole song. They gave up on this and the band became much more popular.

  • @teenflunkie hahaha I agree

  • @teenflunkie thats a photo ... xD

  • @TheDeathparade2010 No shit....

  • frozen style as in they stood still the entire times, like shoegaze bands tend to do?

  • @teenflunkie

Nirvana did not discovered that style (playing the same riff by whole song). They inspired by band The Melvis who first played one riff by whole song and make it really heavy and finnaly they discovered grunge. Nirvana wasn't precursor of grunge. They inpired by The Melvis and others. But Kurt and Nirvana still kick ass other grunge bands.

  • @SiniaDiva the one riff throughout the whole song idea was actually a common blues technique before them listen to smokestack lightning by howlin wolf its the same riff throughout most or the entire song

  • @teenflunkie lmfao

  • @teenflunkie Best commentary EVER on YT!!! ROTFLMAO ZEDONG!!!

  • @teenflunkie yep it's hard to understand how they could play by not moving a single muscle, but i guess that's why they became what they are

  • @teenflunkie lol still motion

  • haha metal nirvana with a metal drumset^^

  • i agree, everyone shut up and watch the video

  • i mean if your gunna write that much write a book

  • you guys write to much

  • OK mainstream doesnt mean shit for one reason and one reason only, because it doesnt fuckign matter what you listen too, if a majority of modern society likes pop, hip hop, rap, or soft rock then thats what floats there boat and is popular and meaningful to them..... if your like me and taken in by the metal, hard rock, and grunge then that is your popular meaningful music (which usually doesnt get lots of radiotime due to not being soft and appealing to everyone)

  • @natebohnet disagree, but not totally dude. i'm taken in by the raw emotional energy of this music, but even beethoven knew how to hook an audience before he got into their heads. doesn't matter what you bring to the mix in the end, it's the emotional conviction that matters. kurt has emotional urgency.

  • all in all mainstream of today sucks -.-

  • This song cleaned up could have been a track on Nirvana's last album. They truly never altered their sound for success, but rather mainstream found them.

  • @Abasuto Think you're right. They had never made their music sound softer and mor pop cause simply they didn't have to.

  • what's is this song? nothing else matters ?

  • Wow, I was not even 3 months old when they played this!

  • man u people with all ur labels dont u ever get sick of it enjoy the music instead of arguing cuz u have no idea what ur all talking about,, btw this is their second concert, if im not mistaken

  • Hate to you inform you youngsters, but everything Kurt wrote, was based on POP melodies....From the horses mouth. Sit down.

  • @symposiumoffilth - Very true. I read his 300 page journal and I agree. His influences were The Pixies & Butthole Surfers..not to mention The Beatles.

  • He was born in Feb, 1967

  • @relsismada Kurt was born in 67... Not 87....

  • Stop feeding the trolls.

  • WTF are you talking about?! Nirvana is the best band ever, Lady Gaga & Justin Bieber SUCKS!

If Kurt was here, he will smash you with his guitar!

    R.I.P. Kurt Cobain ='(

  • if this nirvanas first gig krist novelseck jumped out the window :L and they were all on acid lol

  • track two on "sliver best of the box" which is heartbreaker, picks up right where this left off.

  • rfuck lady gaga and that fucking pop.

    listen trance and hard rockkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Music doesn't die. So many people seem to think that their generation's music was the last era of good music. "Music is dead!!!" they say. As evidence, they reference today's chart toppers (Lady Gaga/Justin Bieber.) But look at the songs that topped the charts during the Nirvana era. You won't find many quality tunes there either. The charts/radio/tv don't represent the best music, only what's popular. Nirvana started underground, and there's good music underground today if you look for it.

  • @nowhereman1940 your right, but its not going mainstream like Nirvana did so most people don't know about it. Its hard to find new bands that you like when they're all hidden and not trying to get mainstream...most people don't have time to look for them.

  • i remember this we did this show for free

  • Who was their drummer then, Aaron Burckhard or Chad Channing? (Or neither?)

  • I would need a demonic partner to pull the trigger long live Courtney love the truly talented one in there relationship

  • some one should have given him a shotgun then and we would not have been subjected to any of this shit

  • @annawolniak This is amazing music. You should have been aborted.

  • @annawolniak everybody at that house party thought they sucked at first, but as they played, the bigoted redneck crowd grew to half like them

  • @annawolniak lol someone should give you a shotgun so we dont have to be subjected to any of your shit.

  • @annawolniak

you sure are one lonely stupid-ass motherfucker. hows that courtney doing anyway? lol.

  • @PirateRupert oh arh me hearty only your mother. Get off your fat ass and have look what you can find maybee you will find some musical taste retard Courtney she's still alive isn't she fuck wit

  • @annawolniak

your sentence structure is to die for, btw. and I dont get it, this is just music from their first show, why the fuck are you bitching so much? any excuse to rip on somebody people like just so someone else will want to talk to you? and courtney love may be alive, but shes fucking crazy is my point.

  • @annawolniak that is too terribal for words not just becasue its a terribal thing to say about any human being but nirvana made some of the greatist music off all time what do you listen to? because if its really better then nirvana it must be some amazing freaking music oh wait you think this is bad which means you probably like music thats crap like beiber and gaga people like you make me disgusted with my generation

i cant beilive you would say that! you disgust me

    go eat a mouse trap

  • @webmaster8040 you obviously smoke far too much pot. As a concequence if you are lucky enough to find a woman to sleep with you, you will have lots of retarded children who you name after your suicidal hero. If you would like to listen to examples of good music try The Who. Pete townsend has more talent in his toe clippings than Kurt Cobain spred over his kitchen floor with his brain matter now off to bed you have school tomorow

  • @annawolniak

LOL the who, or as I call it, shit.

  • @annawolniak pierdol sie suko

  • @webmaster8040 you obviously smoke far too much pot. As a concequence if you are lucky enough to find a woman to sleep with you, you will have lots of retarded children who you name after your suicidal hero. If you would like to listen to examples of good music try The Who. Pete townsend has more talent in his toe clippings than Kurt Cobain spred over his kitchen floor with his brain matter now off to bed you have school tomorow

  • @annawolniak first off if you dissagree with me that doesnt mean you have to write a 3 line long insult. i never said kurt cobain was exactly a role model but his music was good as for The Who well i love The Who.

if you hate it so much why are you here to begin with?

now off to the mental health building you obviously have a phycopathic mind and need to be kept away from thoes of unstable mind your obvioulsly entertained by the pain of others and need some help

  • @annawolniak too bad the who sucks you pussy

  • @annawolniak ur really fucking harsh. despite what you may think, kurt was a good guy. he just couldnt handle the fame that came with nirvana. pete townsend is great musican, but its impossible to compare the two. you just cant do it. dont disrespect kurt, and dont get facts about his suicide wrong either.

  • reading Heavier Than Heaven. talks about this show for like 2 or 3 pages. How misunderstood they were by all the people at the party in Raymond. everyone was wasted. Krist jumped out the window

  • @zippywaite Dude it is a good book , I have read it numerous times. Kinda comes in handy that my job is boring lol

  • @Rockyinlp

all i do in school is read that.

  • @murders2012

    yep, i agree

  • and the girl goes: " ACID ACID ACID" sweeeeet

  • how this makes me wish i grew up near kurt because he wouldve been shredding in a basement/garage with me on drums fuck yeah! wish i was there. :/ wrong side of the country

  • This was the band's first show. Aaron Burckhard played drums. The band jammed on the Led Zeppelin songs "Heartbreaker" and "How Many More Times." Tony Poukkula, who lived in the house, played second guitar on at least the two Led Zeppelin jams. Before "Hairspray Queen," Kurt sang a few lines of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound Of Silence."
  • 03/??/87 - 17 Nussbaum Road (house party), Raymond, WA Soundcheck (incomplete) Downer Set (incomplete) Aero Zeppelin • If You Must • Heartbreaker (jam) • How Many More Times (jam) • Mexican Seafood • Pen Cap Chew • Spank Thru • Hairspray Queen
  • I know quite a few people who were at this house party... I can't even imagine. I live like ten minutes from that house... I was born about twenty years too late...

  • 0:03 Geddy Lee, Neil Peart & Alex Lifeson

  • does any one know the name of this song?

  • Comment removed

  • @YourZach It´s If You Must. I´ve got more songs from that if you want. * Downer * [soundcheck] Aero Zeppelin * If You Must * Heartbreaker Jam [Led Zeppelin cover] * How Many More Times Jam [Led Zeppelin cover]

     * Mexican Seafood * Pen Cap Chew * Spank Thru * Hairspray Queen

  • @YourZach If You Must dude,it says in the description.

  • Is this real ?

  • once i read that on their tourbus somebody had a tape of nwa and kurt loved that shit.

  • I wish people would stop with all the Kurt bullshit and debating and just either enjoy the music, or don't.

He's dead and so is the band, its long since past the time for this talk.

I'd be willing to bet that none of you were even alive when they were around.

    Fuck off kiddies

  • Comment removed

  • @patey6

well fuck you for being old then. don't be all pious just because you were alive then. so was I , but I was One at the time. but I still can play all there stuff, album and non album material off by heart. age means nothing. fanboys are fanboys. and stop being so serious.

  • I think that day was 03/24/87 , i heard it in the biography of kurt Cobain

  • I really dont understand why people come to nirvana videos to talk about Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga i know theyre music is not good and they are total sellouts but what the fuck as kurt cobain said lets be open minded in music and if some people think that JB and Lady Gaga are the best fuck in the world its theyre fuckin problem some of us understand and like to listen to great true music with passion and meaning but some of the stupid people just cant understand it.

  • buuuuuuu,,, kurt cobain happily took his foul backing him to the grave

  • Before they were big..... But still kicks ass..

Haha, Kurt did Not want to play "Heartbreaker", But Krist just kinda started in on the bass line once one of the guys in the audience shouted it.. Kurt was not there to cover any Zeppelin.. He was there to play his shit.. but.. as many of you know.. They played it anyway..

    Wish I coulda been there...

  • mainstream just means your so good that everyone likes you.

  • @mecca421 it means the powers at be like you. nirvana was the exception.

  • @mecca421

or mainstream means: artists who are not good at all but the big bosses of the music industry makes the crowd want what they don't want... and also... most people are just conformists they see that one of their friends for example likes britney spears and they start like her too because they're scared that their friends won't like them anymore... mainstream doesn't necesairly mean you're really good...

  • @WwotEvarr mainstream most often equates to crap

  • @WwotEvarr You should look up the law of conformism. Just accept that you're like everyone else in the world.

  • @CorruptCop01

conformism: taking over the ruling opinions and statements with the goal to be accepted and to fit in.

    i am not a conformist

you don't know me, don't judge me

  • @WwotEvarr C'mon, don't get defensive. You're in denial, which is completely understandable.

  • @WwotEvarr I cant believe how fucking right u are man, they make us believe this mainstream music is good by forcing us to listen to it

  • @WwotEvarr Nirvana were mainstream at one point.

What is considered the 'mainstream' has fluctuated quite a bit over the years.

  • @WwotEvarr humans are herd animals, in numbers there's safety. big bosses wanna keep it down, can't have the masses revolting or worse, thinking for themselves outside the box when the real masters: corporations, need a reliable mindset in there vassals to maintain control. music is the ultimate force of human nature, the ultimate agent, harbinger of change via emotional pathways . . .

  • @WwotEvarr that's what I try to tell everybody. people can't get it through their heads.

  • @WwotEvarr Most people who listen to mainstream music are not music fans, they are pop culture fans. Check out Before the Music Dies on Hulu (its free). They put it all in perspective.

  • @scottelliottmusic thats well put. music and pop music are two different things

  • I agree with everyone here who is hating on Lady GaGa and all that bullshit Pop crap. Seems today any sell out piece of shit can get signed a record deal. like that fucking Justin Bieber fuckface. He's "16" and looks 10 and sounds like he's 8. his ass would be so fucked back in the day when music still existed.

  • @Buckeyeguy894 a fuckin men

  • so raw and sloppy,THE TRUE GRUNGE SOUND!!!!

  • I agree with you. Lady Gaga has absolutely no originality in her music. Everybody praises her as being so uninhibited and innovative. Yeah, maybe by today's standards.

  • go to poland man and y see nirvana people at the sleave

  • I am glad they kept practicing.......

  • Kurt Cobain is the last music genius to ever live.

No one will ever write anything like he did.

    R.I.P. Kurt Donald Cobain.

  • Debut Nirvana in March 87... The Last in March 94. From the very beginning they have decided that music they will earn.

  • Who gives a flying shit what the masses listen to. I'm glad they stay away from all the music I like. It's half the reason Kurt killed himself, he thought he was a fraud.

  • People that compare nirvana to lady gaga should be eaten by alligators, WHAM forever

  • @scotdawg01 agree, GaGa good too.

  • @aatto69 Fuck you!

  • @scotdawg01 NOM NOM NOM :D cool comment dude

  • @scotdawg01 yes!!! in a vinegar and salt dressing ....

  • @scotdawg01 wtf?!!!!!!! NIRVANA TO LADY GAGA!?!!! That's so wrong I want to vomit!!!!!
