Good stuff, but strictly speaking, a lot of this isn't classical so much as it is baroque, romantic, impressionist, etc.
Also, no Moldau by Smetana, no Neptune (or any other Planets) by Holst, no Romance for Violin by Beethoven, and nothing from Symphony no. 9 by Beethoven? IMO, you're already missing out on four of the best five right there (Winter being the other). Seriously, give all of those a listen.
excellent selection - but like all classical lisdts there are so many you have to leave out. rachmaninoff 18 variation of a theme by paganini, rachmaninoff bells of moscow, chopin - your pick, lachme flower duet by delibes, pachelbel canon in d, beethoven violin concerto, strauss also spracht zar., wagner die valkyirie, beethovens 9th, 7th, tchaikovsky 1812 overture, mozart - figueror, don giovanni, rondo, mass, or evene the missa solemnis by beethoven.
You don't ever see Satie on other lists. Glad you included a piece of his. (I especially love his Gymnopédies and Gnossienne) Love the list, great job!
@PrivateWitt101 now this was quite uncalled for... Im a pianist and would like to see some chopin here but there is no need to use such language.. after all its only his list so dont bitch about it and make your own if you are so upset
Well Dies Irae, I agree, it is the most beautiful piece, but I wouldn't place that piece as Nr. 1. To me, there would be more Mozart than Beethoven, or Mahler, or Debussy. My top 5 classical masterpieces is:
5. Eine Kleine Nachtumusik - 1 - W. A. Mozart
4. Symphony No. 40 - 1 - W. A. Mozart
3. Symphony No. 25 - W. A. Mozart
2. Dies Irae - W. A. Mozart
1. The Marriage of Figaro - Overture - W. A. Mozart
My top 5 for this video include all Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart masterpieces.
Excellent video! I enjoyed it very much, I left two comments beneath with my opinions on single pieces. Overall, you have made many wonderful choices, but I would not agree with all of them. For me there would have been more Mahler, Strauss, Elgar, Shostakovich, Brahms, Beethoven etc. But this is your opinion and everyone has their own seperate opinion, so that is fine and I am sorry if I was too critical! My choice would have been very different.... but a wonderful video, I enjoyed very much!
@elgarian497 Thank you very much, my friend! I agree, if i would make another video, just my favourite pieces in order, i think there would be many radical changes here. Believe me, i evaluated almost 100 pieces, so it's quite difficult speaking about classical to obtain more a logical order than a subjective one. You wasn't too critical, it's allright, actually it's OK to see things through another perspective. Thank you for all the 3 comments & if you have other suggestions, just tell me!
Winter is my favourite of the Vivaldi Seasons, but I wouldn't place it in the top 10! I think that it should have been one of his symphonies at no.6 instead of the Hungarian dance. The Moonlight is beautiful, but I prefer his other sonatas such as no.8, 17, "Appassionata", 32. Clair de lune is beautiful! I think Beethoven symphonies 3,4,6,7,9 are better than no.5.... Mozart's Requiem is definitely a masterpiece! I wouldn't place it at no.1, but it would definitely be one of my favourites!
@elgarian497 Well, maybe Brahms wrote many other representative&better works, but, i think most people associate Brahms with this Hungarian Dance. Appassionata is amazing, but i think right now that there are 2 pieces written for piano that express the, i don't know, perfection: Moonlight sonata and Clair de lune. I think it was more like a symbol, speaking about nr.1. Mozart's Requiem is his masterpiece, his evolution as a musician is best expressed in this work...(Requiem)
The Valse Triste of Sibelius is so beautiful! Mahler 1 is an amazing piece! I love Satie's music, rather haunting! Mahler 6 is my favourite piece of all time, so obviously I would have put it a lot higher! Mahler 5 is a great piece, although I'd rate the other Mahler symphonies above it... Mahler is my favourite! He was such a genius! All of his symphonies are masterpieces. I think Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet and Love for 3 Oranges in full are masterpieces! The Debussy at no.12 is amazing...
@elgarian497@elgarian497 Ok, thank you very much for comment. Mahler has 3 pieces here, i think it's quite important, because most composers have 1-2 pieces, ok, Debussy has 4. What i mean is that Gustav Mahler is a big genius, and in a list of 50 i bet he would have many other pieces. Well, if i would judge according to my preferences, i'm sure the amount of Mahler's pieces would be bigger.I like Mahler as well, his music isn't so easy to understand, but it has an amazing componistic power...
1. To me winter is the most symbolic of all the concertos, i think it's the most powerfull one...
2. I suggest you all Satie's pieces from cycle "Pieces froides" Just amazing! Listen to them, i think you could make some entire parts only with that.
3.Yeah, glad you've noticed, Debussy has most pieces in the list, 4, (15,12,7,3)
4.Requiem in my opinion is Mozart's masterpiece...So different than all his music...And Dies Irae is a really exciting work.
Mahler has 3 works in the list (27,23,22), again a great composer, a pure genius! Well, nr 6, i like it, but of course, i don't know if it's true to compare it with the memorable #5.
Anvil Chorus...Well, since first time i heard it, i just memorized it for all my life...It's so exciting, and it is even more expresive when you see that live performed during the acting opera...
Thank you, my friend! Honestly, i'm sorry cause i upload so seldom, but i always try and actually do my best...

yes, like it very much. but i think at no.8, "spring" is better than "winter".
you make me surprise with Satie's piece.
also all of Debussy's music are my favourite !!!
no.1 - dies iraes by Mozart is a good choice, but in my opinion, "choral" symphony" by Beethoven is better :)
i don't know symphony no.6 by Mahler is great :( Anvil Chorus in top 5 is another surprise ♥
good job. keep working
