  • Wow, I just don't get this one. I can see that I'll have to do it over and over until I discover what in the heck I'm not doing correctly. Finding how to snug up the loops is a booger. :-(

  • Hi JD, beautiful tension! I want to connect O-rings for the buckle but I can't figure out how to buckle belt. Don't you need 2 O-rings?

  • Looks very tedious

  • awesome and outstanding!! Thank you Sir.

  • Love this vid

  • The best part about this and many of TIAT's other projects is the fact that you can undo and use the cordage immediately. Many shop sell "survival" bracelets and other crap that look nice but are useless in a real survival situation since it take as long to undo as it does to make. I have made several bracelets that look cool and come undone in just a second. No, 10' of paracord probably won't save your life in a real survival situation but it has come in really handy many, many times.

  • Not sure if this has already been answered but I thought it might help those who had the same question as I had about how much cordage per belt. Keep in mind that this WILL vary depending on the thickness of the cordage used but for PARACORD you will need 53-54 feet for a 30 inch belt. I used 64" per 3" so a good round up would be 2 feet per inch. Hope this helps. Thank you TIAT ! Your videos are awesome. To anyone who hasn't checked out his "Honey Basket",check it out, you won't be disappointed

  • how man y feet of cordage for the belt

  • how many feet for that belt

  • @walterispyro iPhone autocorrect much? I type paracord and get para order a lot too

  • I am wanting to make this but I want to use 4 different colors. I have found pictures of what I'm wanting to do, just nothing saying how to achieve it!

  • This is one of the best videos out about doing knots and stuff with cord. I can do and follow really easy every step and do them all. YOU ARE THE BEST !

  • Thought I might add that you can alter the width and make patterns but adding loops to the end and skipping loops mid weave

  • Nice video, just wondering using the 30ft length of line how long a belt do you get? and could you start with say 3 strand and at some point make it 4 or more to widen into a padded area and the go to 3 again? Thanks for the idea

  • im making this one today. its the perfect belt to use for my dogs collar. he and i do a lot of camping together and he carries his own gear and an emergency first aid kit and survival kit. in case i get hurt i just call him to me and im good specialy if i lose my gear for some reason.

  • If I could rate it more I would I love it you do wonderful work I have made para order bracelets lately and I sell them at my school for 5 dollars, I have made about 150 dollars out of it I got my paracord from by vtarmynavy like you get yours from I will make a back pack strap with this design thanks

  • I'm not for sure the usefulness of this comment is, but have you ever considered using a extra large crochet needle to make this? It could make the production faster for some people.

  • What kinda of rope did you use, will it work with paracord ??

  • If I want to make a 50" belt, how much would you think I need ?

  • can u do it with fewer loops to make it thiner

  • @ParkerAlen213 - Yes.

  • hey just want to start of by saying I love your videos I wish I found them earlier I just love everything about rope from how it made to how its used and if you dont mind i have a request for you i was wondering if you could creat a way of making a belt similar to this one for me i really like the way this one comes apart yet very strong and practical you see i want to you it as a sword belt holder but i have had a little trouble doing that i thing ive found a way on a video call manzgear slings

  • Beautiful belt, and the great thing about it is that you don't have to pre-cut the length of rope.

  • at the end when he said emergency rope i was like NOOOOOOOOO NOT THE BELT!!!

  • just for people's info if they actually make this: i just made one out of paracord and 500 feet was not enough for a belt length. I'm not that big so i imagine everyone needs much more. the 500 feet made about 28 inches and even if you're 28 inch waist remember you need a little more to be used as a belt. ugh, it took me like 3 days to do this crap! naw...it was fun though and I'll still throw this in a pack since it's a very tidy way of keeping 500 ft of paracord.

  • @schpoingle 500 feet! mine only took 61 ft and it was 40+"...you did something wrong. i even made a vid

  • @paintballhead03 lol yeah typo, i meant 50 which is a common amount paracord is sold in and how much tiat said he used of this rope, not sure what it's called. did you really think i made a belt out of 500 feet of rope? lol....ahh mega thick belt...peace mang. and good luck with your video.

  • I want to attatch a buckle to the belt but it just keeps repeating this video when i click on the link

  • Awesome video thanks. I was wondering how you would tie in additional buckle or somesort of joining mech? I would love to use this knot to make a rifl sling, just wondering how to tie in the ends. Thanks again.

  • @futhermucker1 - Your question is answered through the "Special Info Link" in the video description.

  • @TyingItAllTogether - when i click that it just opens up the same clip

  • Can you use 2 colors?

  • My dilemma is that I want to attach a buckle to the belt but still have a true "rescue" belt. My main criteria is that I need to be able to strip all of the line out in a single pull if necessary. I'm thinking that the best option might just be a round buckle that would hide the slant, or a slanted bar on the buckle... If anyone's interested in trading techniques, I have a very slick technique for a boatswains lanyard I use for work ID's.

  • @edoehrt - Your question is answered through the "Special Info Link" in the video description.

  • @edoert, if you want to try this belt in the symmetrical version, you should also view the Bloody Knuckle Knot, it 's quiete equal, starting with 4 loops only. You need to pull through alternately one loop per row instead of both ends in one turn. To attach a buckle at the beginning, you only need to turn the starting loops through it. To attach a buckle to the end, you should stitch the last loops and fix the ends with stopper knots. Apology, I don't have any media to show.

  • I think I might get a shit ton of paracord some day and use this method to try and make a backpack out of it...

  • As always, excellent work.... Love it.

  • Nice, but simply doubling the knot would make the belt symmetric. Starting in the middle of a 20m 550 paracord will result in a nice belt with nearly the same look and function. I wonder why this skewed design had been got so popular.

    Greetz Save4all

  • @DerMopedfaehrt Would you be able to post pictures or a video of your doubled method? I've been trying to figure out how best to attach a buckle and keep getting messed up by the "slant"

  • @edoehrt JD had made a wonderful belt thats way better but hard to make. he even shows you how to put a buckle on it. i forgot the name of it but its more recent than this video

  • @yomama111336 - The "Bush Bar" Belt

  • 2:10 hahaha "STD Method" lol

  • what type of rope do you use in this video?? thanks kristen

  • @KNSE123 1/4inch solid braid nylon.

  • @TyingItAllTogether

    could you use paracord

  • Thanks very much for taking the time to do this video. It was very easy to follow and now I am all set for gifts for the males in my life for 2011 :-)

  • @mpoush

    Don't forget us girls!

I always have my bracelet on, and even put my diamond ring on it when i'm at work.

Working replenishment at a department store is just as dangerous! lol

  • These make fantastic rifle slings too. Thanks for the tutorial, it was way more simple after watching the video, than trying to decipher the instructions I've found online.

    Cheers!

    JC

  • That is so freaking cool, I have to make my own now.

  • I have the exact same rope as you. i tried making a square knot bracelet and the thing was too rigid, felt "blocky" any tips on dyeing rope?

  • presumably one could make this belt as wide as they wanted correct?

  • how much praracord would it take to make a 30 inch belt

  • @rambovschucknorris1

    ...

You'll have to work that out yourself... For the most part, my role hear is to show you a technique, then move on to another.

Best to you and all your ties,

    JD ~ TIAT

  • @TyingItAllTogether ok thanks!!!

  • @rambovschucknorris1

*chuckle* Asked the same question a couple months ago, got the same answer...

Here's a--reasonably--simple way to figure it out (if you haven't already); take a full spool of what you're going to use. Work the knot until you have one inch, cut the ends, undo the knot and measure your length, multiply that by the length in inches you want and you should have a guess-timate of what you'll need. Pretty simple math, yeah. Remember to adjust for how the buckle will attach.

  • @rambovschucknorris1 I believe this technique could be done straight from the spool since the live end is always a loop. JD, I love your videos... thanks for all the time you put into bringing a dying art form to the masses.

  • @rambovschucknorris1

I've found that this knot yields approximately (slightly more than) two feet per inch.

  • @rambovschucknorris1

Using 550 paracord, I made a 32 inch (82 cm) belt from about 50 feet (15 meters). hope this helps!

  • how do you right in thoes plz tell

  • I really love your work! It is truly a gift, and thank you for sharing it. I hope, one day, that you could put your videos together and I would certainly purchase the DVD. Thanks so much for such facinating knots!.

  • What is this used for?

  • first off i would like to thank you for the video .it was informative and very thought out and slow enuff that i could folow along wile tieing

  • Is it me or are this guy's videos totally mesmerizing? JD, love and appreciate your efforts, Man. Keep up the good work.

Have to ask: where do you get all the music?

  • @DESERTDIPL0MAT

    ...

In the case of this music, friends (David Shakiban). In most other cases, I pick and choose from my music collection (pretty extensive) and music I discover here and there.

    ...

    JD ~ TIAT

  • @DESERTDIPL0MAT The local elevator.

  • This makes alot of sense to a guy like me. I spend alot of time outdoors and this could really compact my cordage supply and save tons of space in my pack. thx

  • I used a big crochet hook for this. Very nice video, I love all the single strand sennits and plaits.

  • JD~ YOU DA Man. I found you a while back while researching knots as I am a Fire Fighter. Thanks to your vids, it relaxes me instead of pouring back cold ones. I look forward to more of your stuff, hopefully a book of sorts to take out while camping, DVD w/sound track, etc.! Best Regards Brother & Keep up the awesomeness....

  • so what would be a good formaula for length on someting ling like this.... my uncle thought it would make a good riffle sling with plenty of emergancy line, thats fast and easy to gert to if in a pinch...

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Great video. I need to figure out how to do it on slide release buckles. Also, does anybody know where I can get ordinary belt buckles and ends to make a guitar strap?

  • Just have a look at the link in the description...the shown way to connect to O-rings should work for slide buckles too

  • Great video! I have to ask, what's the title of this song in the background? It has a nice feel to it, I must know!

  • Sexually Transmitted Disease method?

  • STD also stands for "Standard".

    JD ~ TIAT

  • Excellent Video, I tried on 3/8 nylon, liked it. Then did it on paracord. Did 6 loop, used 130 ft of cord to make belt 58 inches. After putting on buckles, I figured 10 ft of cord for every 4 inches..hope this helps

  • @stmaht holy fuckin giant donkey balls thats a shit load of paracord, starting to hate this knot lmao. I make an okay bag out of it but it took a shit load solid but soft it still takes about 1ft for an inch but im running low on paracord, I have like 150ft left so nothing big can be done before I have the cash to make another purchase. this knot looks great but im going to have to do it like TIAT and not tightening the shit out of it.

  • Cool thing about this knot though is that it can be started on what ever and if you tuck the end through the knot after you do the first row it pops right off of what it was attached to.

and anyone else think of a bag made out of this for Mrs Smith? 5 stars just for the image of AJ it brought up

  • Omfg!! great!! a bag made from this!! awesome!!!! gonna make one right now

  • make like 20 loops fold it in half at the 10 point and loop in a circle, to close the end go ahead and tighten up both sides with the same end so one end will be open and the other will be closed and BOOM bag but you will need a way to close it as well as a nice leash/neck cord for it . (if i make a bag out of what ever it will be around my neck becuase I only carry one if im not wearing something with pockets)

  • @mikeblan789 tested it, works the exact same in a circle pattern and works like a fuckin charm, it still can be released by pulling one strand even though its in a round pattern and it doesnt have that goofy angle on the sides but one wall isnt as thick as the others so you will need to tighten it more so it is similar to the honeycomb bag, big holes but put in things that cant fit through them and you will be fine. I hope TIAT makes a video on it becuase if I do it wont turn out as well

  • should make one my self today and see how well it turns out.

  • made one of these today out of paracord.... took forever to adjust it so it was perfect and man it takes up a lot of cordage. had a 11ft piece to make a small keychain and BOOM was gone before I hit 11 inches. great tut but this knots a killer

  • Wow it's hypnotic watching this video and yet I'm learning a valuable skill so ... guilt free trip out! Yay!

  • What is the music?

  • Have you ever tried making one with hemp? I'd be interested to see the results if so.

  • love your stuff - inspiring me to make lanyards, etc. thanks soooo much!

  • It took me about thirty minutes.

    JD ~ TIAT

  • @TyingItAllTogether

I made a whole paracord belt and it took me 3 hours lol

  • @BadIdeas101 me too! if you have a facebook, search paracord crafts and you can see mine.

  • This is hard as hell with #550 7-strand paracord... it keeps twisting and knoting up... anyone got any ideas on how to make it easier with paracord?

  • I found the same thing. Such is the reason why I used ¼ inch solid braid nylon for the video.

My only input (regarding paracord) is to take your time and not tighten each loop until the cord is untwisted and satisfactorily aliened.

Just remember... With time and patience, all tasks can be achieved, even a paracord belt. (smile)

    Best wishes,

    JD ~ TIAT

  • for 550 you may have better luck if you use a shuttle or spool of some sort to hold your cordage. that way it wont get all tangles and just a couple of twist of the wrist and its straitened back out.

  • @TyingItAllTogether When i do something like this with paracord i leave the working ends un burnt a little so that you can work out the twist... i find it's the center that twists

  • @p0rkjell0

Yeah I discovered the same thing. It gets easier as you go. You just have to keep untwisting with every loop and let the belt hang to unwind the cord. Getting the cord to lay flat makes for a much nicer looking belt.

  • STD METHOD LOL!!!

sry had to point it out nice knot and i like the new music

  • Fantastic. I searched for days trying to figure out how to make this belt... Then I found your videos and knew you could show me in an understandable way. I wasn't wrong. Fantastic tutorial... This will get a lot of hits. Thanks again for answering the requests of your fans.

  • what kind of a rope is the one that is being used here ..

  • @hackthreat

Rope Used: 30 ft of 1/4 inch solid braid nylon.

    JD ~ TIAT

  • once you tied the 30ft of rope into a belt how long over all was the belt?

  • About 2 Feet...

    JD ~ TIAT

  • AMAZING...This is sooo Exciting..I Love your Video Tutorials..YOU ROCK WHEN IT COMES TO FANCY KNOTS~~brightest blessings~

  • Finally a knot that isn't all "Fancy Pants"!

    lol

  • I've been looking everywhere on how to make this, but all I found were knitting instructions which were just pics and kinda hard to follow you made it easy to recreate, now I can make my para-cord belt!

  • a new 550 cord project for me.

    Good stuff, faved 5*

  • Nice one, thanks

  • Thank you!

  • Excellent!

  • another good vid.
