  • hey Brian what beat was that at 4:40?

  • Hey Brian, Our church is looking at going from regular 90 watt halogen par cans to the Mega Panel led. I`v been doing alot of research and I heard somewhere about using diffuser covers off of a flourescent fixture, like cutting them into strips to fit the Mega Panel. If it works on the Mega Panel then we were going to buy a few of them, but does this really work? is there anyway you could try it out since we don`t have the equipment yet. Please let me know, btw were shooting 12ft Thanks Brian

  • Hi Brian, love your videos, but want to pick your brains ! I have 2 acme dynamos, a Kam starcluster R&G 3D and a acme dynaroll (the twin one) what would you suggest to go either side of the dynaroll ? I'm thinking dynamo, profile panel, dynaroll, profile panel, dynamo. and stick the laser somewhere behind me. Or do you think the laser would be better in the middle and stick the dynaroll somewhere. I think the mega series are too bright to wash the crowd.

  • If you want reduce the hot spot from any light you can always throw in a gel of Roscoe 119 or 118 gel. It's a diffusion gel not only does it reduce the hot spot but it spreads the lights out better. Try it and see :)

  • I really like the Profile Panel for color wash but can't decided whether to get one or 2 of them.I like the look of them but don't want to blind the crowd. Hooking them up to a tripod is another question I have.Great vid!

  • Im a beginner DJ and am looking at the profile panel for a good wash light on the dance floor and just to mount it on my the truss im going to get...would you do a video of it on a truss facing the dance floor and how it works with the UC3 controller?

    Thanks.

    DJ Russ

  • This is great. I have 4 Chauvet color pallete's panels. Do you know how they compare (bright wise) to the ADJ profile RGB's?

  • Hi Brian!

I was just wandering if both the panels were on the exact color, because if they weren't the test's results may not be 100% accurate.

    Just an observation.......

  • Thank u Brian.!! Ur really good..!!!

  • Thanks for all the demos Brian! You have no idea how helpful these are! Please do a video of the new Slim Par 56 by Chavet vs the Profile RGB by ADJ. I've been wanting to see a side by side comparison of them shining on a wall to use for uplighting. The Slim Par 56 is nice because of the compact size, round shape (probably looks better on a DJ truss than panels), and has daisy-chain power. On the other hand, the panels by ADJ seem to be better for uplighting. I'm really torn between the two..lol

  • Hey Brian....I'm considering getting the profile panels for uplighting use. Can you do a video on the RGB mixing and look at the color bleeding of purples, pinks, and amber colors?

  • hey brian nice vid, very useful! between the profile panel and the mega bar 50 RGB light do you think i would get the most out of if i wanted to use two of either on as a wash facing the people dancing?

  • @scribe93 I'd go Profile Panel because the Mega Bar diods are probably too bright to anyone looking at the DJ booth from the dancefloor

  • hey brian, i was just woundering what would be better for hanging on a truss ans washing a dancefloor? the mega panel or the mega bar? thanx

  • @djjacobskin Neither. I think the MEGA series is too bright for washes where they could be shining in someone's eyes. Stick with the Megas for uplighting. Go with something with smaller 5 mm diods for dancefloor washes.

  • Hey bud, this is my first post! Could you please do a better comparison feature-wise, on the MegaPanel and the Profile Panel, since they are both now comparitively close in price. They would be used for dance uplighting - especially in gymnasiums and larger halls. Also, could one or both be used for uv backlighting only? Anything on further comparison would be appreciated. Thanks a bunch and have a great day. - Darrell.

  • "Please turn down the light, it's in my eyes"... Freakin winers... LOL

  • Again great video loving the new par 56 got to get some!!

  • hey brian, any word from adj of an LED Gobo projector coming in the near future? I have been putting off getting a Martin PR1, hoping that someone would come out with one.... but???

  • There is one right now. In fact, I did a video on it about 2 weeks ago. The ADJ X-Color LED Plus!

  • Good vid Brian. was just wondering what would the homeowners think if if they were pulling up the drive way and seeing their house lit up like a Christmas tree hehe

  • The good news is that I they don't have a driveway and I think the bank owns that home now. HA!

  • What kind of neighborhood do you live in? Hell, if i started shining bright lights all over the place at 3:00am I'd probably get shot by some wacky old neighbor that would think the light is from ET's space ship! (Brian phone home?)

  • Hey man nice stuff. Love the up lighting, inspiring stuff. Could you please take a look at black lighting? I was looking at the 400W UV cannon but there are no vids on youtube of it.

  • good video on them lights!!!

  • i like the softer lights, the colors seem to mix more and look more natural while the brighter ones start loosing the color and just start looking white.

  • Great video! Sometime you get a chance do you think you could go over all the strobes you have including the flat pannel ones and talk about the pros and cons of each or something like that?

  • Thank you Brain for another great video!!!!!

  • who runs by at 3:10? haha seems like a burglar or something.

  • The flickering on camera still's say's a lot on the quality of LED's... You don't see no flickering on tv ? Especially in HD it's worst... It's all relative to the price you pay, the same example applies in pro audio and DJ gear, you pay twice the price for Pioneer but get best results with it, and so on for the PA speakers...

  • @djY2Kev Hence, the reason the Profile Panel is a budget piece. As long as you are not doing a film shoot, it would seem to me that for most people, especially thoes who want to buy several of them, this would be a very economically viable option for someone who wants to get into uplighting

  • @briansredd -- do you see the flickering as an issue when used as a wedding and messing up someones wedding video?? May sound like a dumb question but a small concern and looking for others opinions.

  • I have seen many people also put window tinting on their megabars and colorstrips. Also people replace the acrylic on the fixtures with some textured acrylic to disperse the was more with great success! Try it!

  • They are nice covers, I love the purple colour

  • You guys in the northen part of the world are lucky being able to get hold of great product, but spare a thought for us in Australia, we do NOT get any of this product and do not have access to suppliers just retailers.

So brian ask some of your suppliers if these products will be sold in Australia.

  • You do have an ADJ supplier in Australia. ask youtube user discodjking or even a1partydjs. Otherwise, this stuff is all multi-voltage so you could always order from the states :)

  • ok live this vid and i have an idea for you what about using 1-2 mega pannel leds on the floor behind the skrimking and then use 1-2 profile pannel (not as bright) atached to the stand itself

so love this video and i would like to see some chauvet of cource i love american dj but chauvet is also a comon brand on the dj/lighting market today

    ledlightboy

  • why not try the mega bar (1m) with the scrim king make it look more club like

  • like I said in the vid, mine are packed away at the moment in the truck for a gig, but you should get the idea with the mega bar 50 as to what it will look like thru the scrim king

  • Hi Brian

I need a wash light to wash the dancefloor with colour. I dont want to blind people but i dont want it to be too dim. I would hang it of a truss. Out of the mega panel and the profile panel which one would you suggest?

    Thanx, DJ Jacob

  • @djjacobskin Sounds like the Profile Panel RGB would work very well for you. Not too bright but bright enough for sure

  • The one on the left is strugglin' during the first look but the purple lookin one on the right is better durin the second one Why does the second one look purple and its better and the first one looks blue and its better/brighter?

  • i've been looking for a black light effect, similar to what some of you do with the white glove parties. is this the mega panel to do this with??? i see a chauvet black light panel, but nothing by american dj. also is the mega bar 50s the equivalent of the colorstrip mini by chauvet?

hit me back if you have any info. i just think that for things like the first dance, blacklights look better than going with the multi-colored beams, at least for the photo ops for the book.

  • ADJ has black light stuff. Otherwise, you can always produce a purple/blue type color & get a simlilar effect. Check out the video I did a couple weeks ago at a school party. It was called GLOWCOMING. I did the purplish colors on the mega panels and got a decent effect

  • I would say that the panles arnt up to much for up lighting, par cans do look better for up light, there seems to be more of a angle on them to if you no what i meen lol

  • It just depends on what you're trying to light up. sometimes a panel works best, other times a par can. Sort of like how sometimes you need a philips screwdriver and other times a flathead

  • I'm really enjoying all the Profile Panel RGB videos lately. I would like to get started with wash and uplighting and it seems like they would be a really good foundation to build off of.

  • You sure have been posting up some really interesting and informative videos lately. Loving this stuff! Great video!

    ~Vince

  • Hey bro first of all thank you so much for all that you do !! its videos like this that really help us newer dj's out there understand and or just get a better picture of what or how things work!! Please keep them coming Just wish i had the $ to do what you do !!posted my first gig log a few weeks ago check it out!!

    Dj Dan

  • Can you use the profile panel with differnt colors as a uplight.

  • Yeah, I did a dedicated video to it a few vids back. You can even do color mixing

  • What do you think is the best light to uplight the srcim par or panel. I am looking for that nice full glowing look for wedding. Thanks

  • I showed you 2 options in this vid

  • @pjverzalik don't forget about the bar washes

  • Yeah did bar wash with scrim king and also panel wash

  • hey if you look at my other coment you can see it might eliminate that hot-spot on the scrimking 4 you

  • You're still going to have a hot spot, bro. anytime you shine a light directly onto something like Lycro, you will create a hot spot. The trick is to try to angle the light source in a way where it gives less of a hot spot, hence putting it on the ground opposed to shining it directly at the lycro

  • thanks what i was trying to do was level the hot spots out some :) it could work on a bigger non lycro material though andyhow keep on making the lighting videos because that is what i am here watching and checking for :)

    ledlightboy

  • Thanks again for the vid. I am thinking I am going to go with the chauvet 200b or the the profile panel rgb your thoughts? What one would you go with.

  • The Profile Panel. I think the Chauvet one has dip switches... BOOOO!

  • what pattens on it on the Profile Panel vs the Mega Panel LED

  • pretty similar stuff. We can do a vid on that too

  • thanks brian realy like that

  • Nice comparison, very illuminating (pardon).

Just FYI, the profile panel is actually flickering, it's just too fast to be perceptible by the human eye. Your camera can pick it up though (just like when you see flickering television or CRT screens on home videos)

  • Yeah I can dig that. I just didn't want anyone to think that it was something they would see with the naked eye

  • Hey. 1:32 ...

Hmm... Why is the left rgb panel "pink" and the other one blue??

  • probably has something to do with how bright the red is on one panel and how bright the blue is on the other. They were ran in RGB so full on with all diods

  • Okey... I got one question more;

Can I use some of these panels for uplighting of a stage? I want to use them for both "standard" (just white) and maby for some discos et.c.

They should be firmly attached to the ceiling, so I have to use DMX to control them...

    Thanks! /Emanuel (slojdateam)

  • Yeah why not? They have a wide beam angle which should give you great coverage

  • Thanks Brian. Its always hard to know how different lights will look in different environments, and for those of us who dont have 101 different lights to test in different situations, it is almost impossible to experiment before you buy. So this video is very useful :)

BTW, at 3:10, I think you scared the heck out of some guy on a bike.

  • Good, I hate thoes bike bastards!
