@Haseye The term "jewish" can refer to an ethnical group and to a religion. Natalie Portman's ethnicity is jewish, but she is an atheist. The Nazi holocaust was not focused only on those who followed the jewish religion, but also on everyone who was of the jewish "race", being religious or not.

That is not an oxymoron like saying a "catholic atheist" because Jews are an ethnoreligious group.
You can decide not to adhere to the religious mumbo jumbo of Judaism, but you can't renounce your Jewish ethnicity.
