Im a freshman at edinburg north. i dont know if youve heard of it. well anyways, im in mariachi and im playing vihuela next year for the group. the senior told me that there was this beast guy on youtube who played the forgotten cascabel solo. Friggin sweet man. im going to play that soo at a vihuela battle at the end of the year with the senior vihuela player. your awesome dude. sorry for the story .. ;D

Pues, siendo este tema sobre la "cadenza" (improvización) se tiende a comparar. El virtuosísmo siempre crea competencia. Se supone que cada quién crea su propia cadenza. Me parece que en la pieza El Cascabel, los mariachis usan la jarana como si fuera el instrumento Cuatro venezolano, pues usan rítmos venezolanos superpuestos sobre música jarocha, y tocado con vihuela en vez de jarana. Por un tiempo, el mariachi se ha estando apropiando de estilos venezolanos, por encontrar nuevas melodías.

Honestly it was nothing special. i dont play but i love mariachi. search mariachi monumental and look for the cascabel video. the vihuela solo isnt very long but this guy puts all solos ive heard to shame.

I have been playing Mariachi for fourteen years now and with that background I'd like to think that I can give an educated opinion. You're what Mariachi is. Traditionalists will scold you but the time of the plain old Jarabe Tapatio playing Mariachi is over. We still have to continue to play that stuff to stay grounded but bravo to you for not only keeping up with the music, but also for putting your own spin on it as well. You are what is good about young musicians today. Keep it up!

Muy poderosa la vihuela. Aquí en Hawaii solo tiene 4 cuerdas y casi nada de volúmen, porque ha ido cambiando con el tiempo. Pero eso sí: tiene 14 trastes antes de llegar al cuerpo. Gracias.

Yo soy un arreglista muy amateur, y solo por necesidad, dado a que por aquí en las islas Hawaiianas tocamos principalmente para el público general. Somos el punto más cercano al Oriente, así que algunos experimentan mariachi en vivo por primera vez, aquí. Pero hacemos solamente tocadas muy sencillas; lo que podemos.

Sí, el `ukulele es, digamos, la jarana de Hawaii, traída por los portugueses, o sea que no viene de los españoles como es la "vihuela" original. La vihuela de México se ha adaptado a lo largo de los años para funcionar perfectamente como parte de un mariachi. Tiene muchos trastes el `ukulele - hay 4 tamaños tradicionales, desde el pequeño hasta el "barítono", todos más chicos que la vihuela. Originalmente, el `ukulele era tan chico que se ¡podía cargar en la bolsa (del saco)! - muy portable.

I had a comment about your vihuela videos....try keeping your hand from going above the strings, sometimes it goes to high(looks amateur). just keep it withing the body of the vihuela that's all.
