@mollywa21 this just brought back my good old memories .we played this same song at the Round Table in Harare in 1985 .The song is called Thoko .eeeeish
The Best...especially with the improv feeling and emphasizing VOLUME variations...thats really when the musicians are listening to each other and not just banging around..something Ive heard too much of in America...bless it all of course!
Glad you like it. I watched the musicians for over half hour. When they saw me filming, they just kept on playing, improvising all the time and having great fun.
Finally, an example of Zimbabwean marimba. Are these Zimbabwean musicians or are they from a neighboring country? It's nice to hear what it sounds like from the source. Until this moment I've only heard American groups. This sounds so different! So African!!! The American groups sound great, too. But different. This reminds me of music from the Caribbean. Home. Rhythm is so wonderful!!! Some things can't be taught! They must be felt!!! Keep posting more!
I filmed this near the Victoria Falls, and as far as I know the musicians are Zimbabwean. The only other possibility is Zambian but I doubt if they came from there. They were lovely people and played their hearts out. Their main audience of course consisted of tourists. I often think of them in their present circumstances
Always sound good ,i remamber most of the days we played this at my school eish !!!!gone are the days
Thank you again

@levimwanza
This was at Victoria Falls near the shopping centre. I do not know the name of the group who performed it. I think they were local to the area.
I was pleased to learn that the song is called "Thoko" and is about a beautiful girl.
