@8ndyr0ck nothing really, they usually have the same numbers and range, its just that skirmishers spread out to avoid getting shot, while light infantry assume the line formation like normal infantry, but that doesnt stop them from assuming skirmish formation from time to time

His best bet was to hold a specific corner of the map and use his line infantry to hold the line against Pom while focusing his artillery on oncoming troops to his line so he could take out large amounts of troops with cannister shot and maybe just maybe he would of won the day

@tothsi It might be because of all the problems the game had when it came out...but it could be just the fact that the entire game is based around gunpowder units, and only the most skilled players can still effectively use and realize the value of melee units...but I would say that it's just the range that the battles are now played at, it's a much different style of battle than Rome and Medieval

There is a mod for Empire called the Blue and Grey which involves the US Civil War. They don't have repeaters, but it has most everything else you'd want from a civil war strategy game.
