Saving like you would normally on a Game Boy don't always work on a PC emulator. This works, even on Crystal. If you don't believe me go search around Google yourself, I got the emulator for my iPod Touch and I was able to do it. It did take me a few tries because I made a few simple mistakes. This works on all second gen Pokemon games, I think it might also work on the first gen but they fixed it in the other generations.

this always used to work for me on the actual gameboy, but trying it on an emulator now and it doesnt, the file saves and updates but the pokemon stays in my roster, and doesnt get cloned :(

@saie000 you can download a gameboy advanced emulator on your pc called visualboyadvanced. it eventually started woring , you just have to time it right. I had to do it after all the text had appeared. hope that helps

mate although this is gold or silver the cloning glitch does work on crystal iv got all the starters on mine you do have to wait a second after the saving says PLEASE DONT TURN OFF THE POWER! but be aware if you do it too early it could lead to a fucked clone that has a load of ? as its name and freezes at the start of a battle so if it happens release it as it wouldnt harm the game and try again it took me a good 20 or so goes but i got the hang of it with perfect timing to creat purfect clones

On crystal it says the dates say 1995 to 2001 this only says 2000 so its ether gold or silver.

warning: if you get a bad clone ie (if the pokemon in the box consists of ??????????????????????????????­???????????????) release it immediately, and if you don't want to, DO NOT look at it's stats, random things then happen and your SAVE file could corrupt. (i thought it was cool and kept looking at a bad clones stats (shiny jigglypuff bad clone) and my SAVE file corupted. i'll post a video of it soon (me looking at its stats)

You can activate this glitch on Crystal. The only thing that puts it in a different scale than Gold or Silver, is that you have to reset the game at a certain, different point. Gold and Silver are more flexible, crystal makes it slightly harder. Be careful where you reset it though, you could get a bad clone.

not being able to save is the fault of a dead battery in the game cartridge. it happened to me and many others.The gold and silver games got pour quality batteries when they were released. Some of them still work but most of them aren't working anymore. They can be replaced however but don't ask me how but its not too difficult

It IS possible to do in Crystal (I just did it with a growlithe holding a master ball) but they both appeared in the box not one in my inventory and one in the box. I did it by waiting a just a tad longer after the word "power" appears in "Don't turn off the power. Crystal is more prone to glitching though. Don't use too often and don't clone Lugia.

I've done it on my crystal version myself. I find what works for me is to leave box 2 and 6 empty for cloning. Deposit the pokemon you want to clone in box 6, then change to box 2, but turn off the power right when it says "Saving... Don't turn off the power." at the end of the sentence. If that doesn't work try the other way around, depositing in box 2 and changing to box 6, or maybe each game has a different combination of boxes that work, if what I mentioned doesn't work just try other boxes.
