they had the number one album . ep and single not even the beatles managed that. .

with cliff richard they were consistantlt number one on the charts. so that kinda says bollocks to your record sales.

Only people from UK think the Shadows are better than the Ventures. I myself have never heard anyone compare the two till YouTube. I have a feeling it's more of a patriotic pride thing than a musical one. It's like NA Mustang D vs. Supermarine Spitfire MK IX all over again.

i really think you need to study the shadows far more.

the SHADOWS influenced. BECK -CLAPTON. -PAGE-BLACKMORE . GILMOUR-TOWNSEND -and in the 60s there was a curious guitar epidemic all caused by HANK MARVIN the shadow genius and first real guitar idol .

HARRISON was quoted as saying EVERYBODY WAS DOING THE shadow thing .not the VENTURES. the shads were formed in 58 so well before the VENTURES.

this has none of the smooth delivery of the original by the DAKOTAS.

THE VENTURES PERFIDIA AND WALK DONT RUN were minor hits here in the uk . but THE VENTURES couldnt compete with the far superior SHADOWS .. i think the ventures certainly served up some crap. in there time. dont listen to DIAMONDS that has none of the quality . of JET HARRIS AND TONY MEEHANS playing class . a prime example of ventures crap
