you're so right. here in the UK its the same story but on a smaller scale. they let small business go to the wall, and encourage privatisation on a large scale, they sold off all the former controlled services, like water, electric, and gas, so now we are at the mercy of companies that compete for the honour of raping us. but even the cheapest is well overpriced, unlike years ago when the state kept prices down. monopolies like walmart, make smaller shops obsolete. the US is being obamalised.
