Ive been in amongst the Perkins engine for a while and the P6 was one if the hardest to start. The 230 on the other hand only needed a heat from the button and a little throttle to start. The older the engine the better I say.

that isnt a p6! its an AD6-354, the p6 has the exhaust manifold on the same side as the injectors, also the ps had a simms inline fuel pump not a cav rotary pump

hai i have the engine like it . it is perkins 6-354 made in 1973 . old machine but condition very good. i do to generating stc-50 .

I think it would be best for the engine if you let it idle for a few minutes before revving it 'balls to the walls' style.
