Sean the Leprechaun - 'All Aboard' (audio story)

I remember this haunting melody in the 1960s on TV at the end of the programme and there was a repeat again in the 1970s. It has remained with me ever since. Was it composed especially for the children's series along the lines of a traditional Irish air or is it actually an Irish folk tune I wonder? The music appears to resemble an old music box or even one of the voices of an electronic carillon. Any ideas as to the instrument itself?

Many thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard that tune for 43 years, but I'd had it in my mind all that time.

What a shame there isn't any video of the stories. I have very vague memories of the little wood at the beginning of the titles.

I hope that you manage to find the other records in your garage.
