@charlotteguy225@charlotteguy225 you ever find a chorus? If your identifier is your screen name, I offer the link to Charlotte NC's chorus, the Gold Standard Chorus. Not only is the music fun, but barbershoppers are the greatest gents in the world. Now with a dozen years of song barbershop under my belt, I can attest. Check these guys out, get involved if the fit is right! Oh yeah, and any good chorus can help you polish your voice!
I am part of a chorus that isn't the biggest, not close to being best, but I love barbershop with eveything I have. I hope that someday I can go to internationals and compete with the likes of you guys, great barbershoppers I respect till the last chord rings. Thank you guys for always giving it your all. True inspiration. Being 17, I have a little way to go, but I will do my best.
@MRSAMLIKESHAM Please, do your best. : 3 If you got passion and a strong power of will...you will be amazed to places those great values could take you. ^^
@MRSAMLIKESHAM Keep singing, Mr. Sam! The Westminster boys aren't that much older than you are. In fact, when they first won District, many were your age. Dedication, enthusiasm, desire put them where they are today. You can get there too!
So sad to them so small. What's happening to barbershop? It seems like some choruses are getting smaller...and a lot of them are full of old people with maybe 4 or 5 youngins, lol. I was singing with the Great Lakes chorus here in Grand Rapids, Michigan and me and some other guy were the only young people (i'm 22). Barbershop needs more exposure. I hope the new "American Harmony" film gets lots of exposure. If you don't know what i'm talking about, look it up. LONG LIVE BARBERSHOP!!!
Look how young all these blokes are, though!! They've grown and their success is enocuraging more young people into young people to sing barbershop all around the world!
I'm in South Australia, and the tenor in my quartet got me to watch some videos of these blokes and I fell for it - hook, line and sinker! We've now formed a small youth chorus with another quartet and a school quartet (plus a couple of their brothers)! These blokes are great!
At the time this was recorded, they were actually 9th in the world. Westminster went from 9th to 2nd, to 1st -they didn't start out as champs ;-) Do you sing in a barbershop chorus as well?
no i wish...im only 17 and "section leader" (pathetic i know) in my high school's chamber choir, about 20 people (satb), and will be a participant in Connecticut's regional festival at the end of the week...i don't know of any barbershop chorus's around here, and I expect that I'll have to wait till college...idk...though im a huge fan of all sorts of music, and a large fan of quality barbershop, especially Westminster, who got me into it =D
I need to go polish my voice. I am going to have to find a chorus. This music is too much fun just to listen to it. I want to sing it!!
