There's actually a very reasonable and deep explanation for that. Because Robotnik swore, then didn't care, the FCC was forced to dumb down episodes to aim specifically for children. In the end, the next Sonic series they created was Sonic X, effectively destroying Sonic's image for the people who grew up in the 90s; or as the video clearly describes, Sonic died lol.
