My name is Monica Lewis. My son developed hydrocephalus at six months of age and he has had two brain surgeries in his first year of age. As of today, my son has difficulties with daily activities, and i want to know if there is anyone that i can speak too that can help me better understand his condition and what i can do to help my child.
@LadyMotionz1 I'm 31, a premature baby at 7 months, have congenital hydrocephalus. I've now taught preschool but left teaching, went back to school for my B.S in Social Work. I finished college in 09 and am working in an office with other adults..I took general education classes and a bunch of advanced classes in school...I have also been driving since 16..(No traffic tickets or accidents) Hope this helps. God Bless.
I have had hydrocephlaus since I was born 27 weeks Premature, I was developed Hydrocephlaus at 6 weeks old back in 81. I have lived with hydrocephlaus for 29 years.
really becouse insuranc companies are still dening us care that are neorosurgeons are recomending even if you have done everything your surgeon has said and he does not know what else to do so he recomended to send me out of state which is a couple of hours away and the insuranc company will not let me go their is a doc that is in cleveland clinic that is all he does is hydrocephalus
Um...odd that she champions this yet restricts access to treatement for the very people she talks about? Even more odd is the fact that children and women repreasent the largest percentage of those without insurance and she is against any reform. I wonder why? Oh I know, she is a hack. I almost forgot.
@VinceP1974 Hey Moron, you are implying that shunted people are stupid, eh? Well, having a shunt makes one smarter, not dumber!!!! Maybe you have a failing shunt in your brain!

Right but the lack of health care to all Americans does not allow all people to get treatment to solve it.
1 in 500 births suffer from it.
1 in 3000 births suffer from it and can't get the treatment they need.
