What's sad is THIS is just a piece of war. Unfortunately, blatant U.S propaganda (and some other countries) convinces countless people that war is all about heroics and patriotism, which is utter bullshit. There's also idiots in my school who think you can get a nuke in the army just because they saw it in MW2. It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant people can be to this shit.
@SRP003 true. as a brit its frustrating to see how the americans can turn this world around for the better, but seem to go about it the wrong way :( suppose its critisicm but i cant lie, i like them as a country and am thankful for their allied stance with us, but the two countries have had better days in terms of world opinion.
it wouldnt hurt the two to take a leaf out of this particular conflict to realise how hatred and differences can devastate a whole region in the planet. :(
If you care about the troops, you would them home!
After all, who are the troops?
The troops are conscripted by high unemployment, by low wages, by poverty, by racism, by poor prospects, by a sense of despair of making any kind of life for themselves in the civilian society
Recruited in high schools, universities, recruited in parking lots, recruited down on the mean streets of industrial & post-industrial USA, and sent as workers with a rifle to kill other workers
Thank you sugar for spelling it out in regard to who mainly do serve our country. I am a staunch believer that when and if we go to war, the DRAFT is immediately implemented. Firm believer of that. I think that making that little rule would get EVERYONE involved in the run up to a war and all of our Congressmen and women's children would have to serve. If that had been the case regarding Iraq, we either probably wouldn't have even gone there and it certainly would be over right now!
America's most decorated soldiers says it best: General S Butler
In War Is a Racket, Butler presented an exposé and trenchant condemnation of the profit motive behind warfare
I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for Amer oil interests in 1914
This is true and why there will never be a draft in America again. We have begun to use Merc forces like the former Blackwater, who are now buying their own war ships and aircraft. Most of the soldiers are trained by the merc forces not traditional armies and the causality numbers are not reported. It is also cheaper than maintaining a standing army and a merc force has no allegiance to a population just the paymaster. This bodes ominously for the USA
leudrerrep, if you click on Kriegbell's name (below), you will be connected to the Kriegbell Channel and you can then watch the hate filled video that is posted there.
I like some of those pictures. I especially like the ones from the 1st World War (Great wWar). I've seen most of them in the books I've read.
But there are also much more salient and more important realities of war than nice pictures. There are things like depressing boredom and abject squalor.
And one only has to click on my user name and see the real GRAPHIC unpleasant realities of war that everyone should see.
Now you can block me from making a counter comment.
The title is taken from the photo at 3:53. You should read the information that I have provided to grasp the inspiration for this piece. "All people know the same truth. Our life consists of how we choose to distort it" - Woody Allen.
Glad to see you didn't block me. You keep referring to paranoia. Did I "threaten" you because I said I was going to block you from my video? Who's paranoid now?
Also, you're quotes sound like meaningless platitudes...very unbecoming. i never ripped into your video by saying it was garbage. My main and only point was that there are other serious issues of war that (and I'm not saying you are one of these people) that most people are completely unaware of.
maybe it went over his head ,or may be i am a android , all jokes a side. US humans love a good war, even thou they know its wrong . Its the Innocent are the victims of war .
I don't think so, I think that leaders con everyone into doing wutever they want us people to do. they just don't care. they are greedy and love to watch us suffer.
I do not have a "sock" account, whatever that means. I have not blocked you nor have I threatened to block you. You obviously have issues that revolve around hate and paranoia and I will not waste any more of my time with you.
YES. one troubling thing, i've noticed lately that younger people tend to ignore anything that happened before they were born. they just don't care or realize how important the past is to the present.
thank you for the info on color photos. i was wondering before your video exactly when color photography became possible, and you cleared that up for me.
I'm glad to hear that people continue to read books. Kudos to you. If you are interested in the writer/director, Dalton Trumbo, there is a mini biography on the IMDB web site. It delves into the "Hollywood Ten" and the dark days of McCarthyism.
You cannot call the worst of war the reality. the reality of war is what is done for the most time in that war. for many wars that was fighting. but for other wars such as Vietnam or Iraq. it is the mundane time spent doing nothing important that you would call the reality. If you spend 234 out of 365 not doing anything important, wouldn't you call that the reality? as it is whats happening most of the time?
The title is taken from the photo at 3:53. I must say, I was surprised to learn that anyone so young would be aware of a 1971 Dalton Trumbo film. I hope that it is for the correct reasons.
Thank you for your comment. I wanted to show through photographs the extent of the counties involved, from Sudanese soldiers to Scots prisoners and the Australian Light Horseman picking poppies. Unfortunately, it would require more than three minutes to represent them all. In my humble opinion, the real 'heros' of war are those in the medical corps which I illustrated by using images of soldiers being treated for physical, as well as psychological wounds.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. "The definition of insanity is continuing to repeat the same actions and expecting a different result!" - Albert Einstein
the kaiser? shit, what about england's royal family? the same shit. At least the kaiser was put on the streets, the royal family in britain still runs their chicken farm no questions asked. It was the stupidest war ever. all because some asshole serbian murder an archduke and everything escalated from than on. There were no good guys here.
The assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand of Austria was an excuse to get the ball rolling. The history of wars is littered with such excuses and they continue. "All people know the same truth, our lives consist of how we choose to distort it" - Woody Allen.
Those guilty of committing atrocities, directly or indirectly, should be held accountable, but taking responsibility for the sins of the fathers? War, all wars, require the will of the people. Each of us must examine ourselves.
