I'll be honest, the 4Kids lesson got a chuckle from me. Other than that, it, indeed, is a rare occasion when the team does a decent dub. However, the Japanese version exceeds "decent". I LOVE the use of the opening theme.

If a release of Sonic X English uncut is up to Sega, isn't it possible that they may reject it?

I mean, they've rejected the Ryan Drummond guy, even after fans begged, and after the Drummond guy begged.

Sonic X "uncut" seems like something Sega may just turn-down again, despite how many fans wanting it. That is, if Sonic X English Uncut is up to Sega (now that 4kids is no longer..)

And they didn't need to explain the Sonic Boom for American kids because most of them will speak English, and will know what they mean by sonic boom.

Well, the situation has changed since I made my last post. The rumor is that 4Kids is going out of business and that it has begun a selective bidding process for all of their properties, including the licenses to their anime. The anime will be difficult because the deals need to be approved by both 4Kids AND the original Japanese animation studio. So don't get excited...but the rumor is that 4Kids has sold Sonic X.

Well, that's the good (read:WONDERFUL) news. The bad (read: TRAGIC) news is that it's further proof that the anime business is dying thanks to illegal uploads and downloads. I don't mind this kind of upload at all because it's only a short clip done for comparison's sake, but the people who are uploading full episodes...are not doing any favors for a dying industry. It's dying in Japan, too. Animation studios are going out of buisness left and right (supposedly even Toei is considering filing for bankruptcy), and where there was once a public TV timeslot for anime, it is now only available via private satellite networks. Public TV networks stopped carrying anime because anime fans have developed a reputation for not buying anything, so they're reserving it for the people who will pay for it. The Lesson: Anime is awesome, so BUY THE DVDS!!!

Sonic X (and 4Kids productions) is one of the few times, negativity to the non-Japanese version isn't over-exaggerated. But this is due to Sonic fans, and NOT anime fans.

Funimation's One Piece videos tend to get bashed by rabid anime fans, and you'd think they'd be grateful than Funimation improved over 4kids. Though not all anime fans behave this way, most of them do.

But Sonic X deserves a good English version, and us Sonic fans deserve one.

That particular edit is not a 4Kids edit, actually. 4Kids just recieved different video footage (a different video master) from TMS. This was proven because the French and Cantonese dubs, the onlly foreign-country dubs that bought their masters and scripts directly from TMS and not 4Kids, have those changes as well. This is relatively common, as dubbing companies rarely get first-generation masters. They can, but it costs so much that it's not financially practical.

Well thank you very much. And actually, if you want one little extra tidbit on that area, here it is. The money is the biggest issue, but the other problem is that if you get your hands on a first-generation master, you are legally obligated to treat it like it's the holy grail. Because if you lose or damage it...hoooo boy would that land you a bad lawsuit. Any kind of remastering that could be done can only be done if the first-generation masters are used, so if THOSE are damaged...*shiver*...

This episode wasn't actualy translated and re-voiced by 4 kids, so thats probably why it was less cencored than other episodes

Japanese owns all 4kids kill anything Anime they touch and i think Sonic X got it the worst tbh...YuGiOh wasnt so bad or Pokemon but damn this show actually seems rather lame in English cos theres so much cut out and such crappy lines. Oh and the voice actors suck.

Well, the 4kids actors aren't that bsd, in fact I think it's awesome IMO. Why because before they had 4kids actors, I hated the other actors especially tails and Amy. Knuckles maybe they should'nt keep their old voice actors. But the 4kids actors made such an improvement to Sonic, Tails, and Amy but I don't like Cream's voice actor. Yeah sure they crappy lines but the voice actors were good to me.
