@RaLLyX352 Their hardware probably couldn't handle it. Console fanboys need to admit their systems are woefully outdated at this point. Would you want to use a smartphone from 2005-2006?
Mirrors Edge would not be Mirrors Edge without Physx. The visceral feel of everything going to hell and you avoiding it is possible only through Physx.
I like physx, but I'm still getting the 6970 when it comes out, possibly even two 6970s if they scale well, but would I really need that much overkill for anything?
@SonarWavePulse Wow you have some restraint I don't I can play games without physx I'm thinking about getting a GTX 570 instead of a 6970. Curse you Just Cause 2 Cuda making me a gfx whore.
you missed out the best smoke part where you blow up the gas valve and the room is filled with the black smoke with embers floating around which can be moved around by the player.
@Ashitaka255 this is physx, its not just a mirrows edge thing, and to be honest the point of this video is so we can point and laugh at console fanboys at how shitty their physics are.
I was also sick of my PS3 and 360 failing, PS3's Blu-Ray drive failed, 360 had the E74 error. At least MS fixed it for free unlike asshole Sony charging $150 outside warranty for their poor build quality! If my PS3's drive didn't fail, then the YLOD would have happened instead. The original 60gb models are almost guaranteed to eventually fail like the launch 360s but have the best features.
My PC has been more reliable and I can easily fix whatever hardware issue happens with it.
thats just bad luck to be honest. PS3's still have a very low failure rate, the 360 is a no-brainer tbh. Dont blame sony for not extending your warranty. And i doubt MS deals with hardware problems, i dont most companies do outside warranty.
Micro soft fixes all the problems with your xbox as long as it isnt damage caused by something like a bowling ball dropped on it. if it is normal everyday wear and tear then thay will fix it free. I am not saying I like microsoft I am just saying that they have good service when it comes to the xbox 360.
well i've heard it takes 2/3 weeks for microsoft to replace a completely broken xbox, such as whwn it gets rrod. I wouldn't say thats exemplary, seeing as sony replaces yours next day (good ol' pink box.)
yet when I turn on PsysX on some locations like when that blues shoot through glass the game start to brake, making the frames going up and down, thus game becomes unplayable.
its just all about moneyu... Like if thwey couldnt add thayt physics to ati cards without ageia physcis...., they just say buy nvidia and nothing more...
I disagree, and can not for the love of God understand why your comment has gotten thumbs up, all PhysX is in this game is some slight nuances to the environmental effects.
@Gargantou Normally yes, but in a game with such simplified graphics those small but very detailed differences seem to change the whole atmosphere of the game, and just adds to the awesome.
People have been saying that for years now. As long as there are PCs, there will be PC gaming. What, do you want PC gaming to die? Do console gamers want PC gaming to die because they are jealous?
jealous of PC gaming. Hardly. The day will come when PC game sales hit an all time low, to the point where only a few loyal devs will develop for the platform. The console simply appeals to the holy grail of the gaming community, the casual/hardcore crowd.
Funny thing is that consoles are becoming more like PCs, what with hard drives, installations, patches, updates, etc.
People have said PC gaming was dying for years, its all bullshit. Do you want PC gaming to die honestly? I don't want console gaming to die.
I don't mind if the PC gets more console ports, as I have an all in one machine, I can play games on a portable laptops, I get to play with custom content, mods, etc.
what made you think i want pc gaming to die. You cant blame me for taking offense, what with calling console gamers peasents. And a few multi media options on a console hardly makes it a PC. And as a proud PS3 owner, i get the pleasure of nifty little psn titles, better optimised, AAA exclusive games (damn shitty ports), An easier to use, yet complex online service, significantly less lag than PC and a more dedicated (user wise) online community (yes i know pc games have mods, WONDERFUL.)
I actually had a PS3 and 360. I've been a PS fanboy as a child, having a PS1, PS2 and PSP. But my 60gb PS3 failed after only two weeks of usage and I got a 360, gave it to my brother and he gave it to my dad for $30 to use as a DVD player. He's also a PC gamer.
I wanted to build a PC for a while so I finally did. Now that I own a PC as my only system, I'm a PC fanboy, just like those who only own a 360 or PS3 usually become fanboys of that system.
im no ps3 fanboy if thats what your suggesting. And of course they'll be PC gaming as long as PC exists, but i mean casual gaming, anything from stick arena to hannah in a choppa. I see the fall of hardcore/casual PC gaming, which encompasses those enthusiast who spend tons on gpu's etc. to the more casual crowd who are more intermediate, all of whom either buy cd-rom of d2d their games. Especially with on-live looming on the horizon, needless to say, its a threat to all gaming mediums.
On-Live should help PC gaming, it will get new gamers into PC gaming, especially console gamers. More install base, more developer support for PC gaming. Physical PC gaming won't die, it may be a niche, but a very dedicated one. I enjoy being able to tweak and benchmark my PC, just like people do with cars. I might even buy a new DX11 video card for more than the $299 PS3! : D
I'm skipping consoles for now, probably won't give up on them altogether. I have enough PC games to last me a while.
PC gaming, in my book at least, means buying PC games from a retailer, buying the neccesary hardware and building a rig, or buying something adequate for pc gaming. It requires user input on most/all levels. With on-live, you dont pay big buck for the parts, or install games on your hdd. Its all done for you, all you need is any old PC, and a subscription to on-live, or a on-live hub. You see the translation from PC gaming to Cloud gaming. Note cloud gaming is my own term.
As long as there are PCs, releasing games on PC after a console release is just like getting extra money for minimal effort.
So, big companies will continue to do that and people will still buy good computers when they need a office computer, just in case they want to play games.
what role do dev kits play then? I'm just curious, and PC's as a whole wont die, I just feel devs wont bother with the platform, despite the 'minimal effort,' obviously not this gen. But as soon as the hardware leap e.g. partial customisable consoles, revolutionary, innovative design, is made in console gaming to better mimic PC. Im sure most multi-platformers are made on PC first anyways, and equal effort is but into the other platforms to allow satisfactory operation (most of the time.)
Its about the numbers and how hard or easy it is to pirate. If its impossible to pirate and a huge number of people own a platform it makes more sense to make it on that platform first.
As I see it its the PC gaming evolution, specially in hardware, that drives consoles upgrades. The PS3 would be no where near as good if it wasnt for PC gaming. Just look at how slow Nintendo are to adapt new tech...
Dev kits? In context they are programs used to make stuff on "that" platform only.Just wiki it.
You cant really compare a PC to a SuperNintendo or even a PS1.
Its when the PC got 3d cards and consoles got hard disks they really could be compared.
If you ever been to an arcade before 3d cards and asked how powerful they where compared to a PC you would probably gotten the answer that the arcade machines power couldnt be compared to a PC. This is because most "state of the art" arcade machines back then had integrated simple hardware to solely proses graphics.
u know what i mean, consoles still compute, much like a 'compute'r. And a console is personal, thats more or less a PC in my book. Its much more evident nowadays with consoles fitted with hdd's, OS's and dedicated GPU's etc.

thats pre-broken, all the models have a deformation mesh which is switched out in real time, to give the effect of things blowing up.
