All of you are right! It's an overheat problem. The only way to fix it is to remove the old dry thermal paste on the GPU & CPU and apply some new thermal paste so it won't overheat. search for some youtube videos on how to disassemble the ps3 & how to add thermal paste on the GPU & CPU. I didn't make a video how I did it and to show proof it works but it's the truth. Thumbs up if it worked for u and to show everyone else :)
yer ive just got this problem, ive been reflowing it several times and apply no-clean flux to every chip and still have this problem, i think the graphics chip itself is at fault, looks like a new PS3 for me then :(
I've got the same problem... I don't know what to do. I opened it up put new thermal paste on the heatsinks and thinking of doing the oven trick just for kicks on it. I have no warrenty.....
Your HDCP panel burned out. Happened to my first TV so just get a new TV (If you recently bought that TV that is. If not then.... stick with Standard definition -red white and yellow cord-)
Check to see if the cables are connected properly. Look for dust or something on or blocking the pins. Use a can of air to blow out the dust.
Do not plug the PS3 into a VCR. Plug it directly into the TV.
One last thing: Turn your PS3 completely off by the switch in the back. (When the red light is on.)
It should go black. Hold your fingers on both the Power and Eject button and flick on the switch. Your PS3 will turn on but keep your fingers on the buttons until you hear a second beep.
What this will do is scan for current settings and appropriately configure both audio and video settings. And it may also cause the fan to blow at a very high speed. (Please avoid doing this multiple times. If the problem still persists then call sony 1-800-345-7669. If out of warranty this will cost $149.99)
The GPU would have to have a reflow done to it. Anything like this problem will stem from the GPU.

Same thing has just happened to me on my SDTV. Did you have to get your PS3 replaced and if you did was it a 60GB you got back?

I'm not living in USA right now, so i can't manage the replacement :(
