I have one of the sony walkman's with the built in speakers 16 gig and all. The sound quality is INSANE. Using headphones or in ear earbuds makes the biggest diferences... AHD the equalizer is freaking amazing.

I have a question for anyone who can help answer it. The controls are squished together especially the joystick & they STILL have the hold/pwrbutton RIGHT next to the palm so it might turn off by accident sometime. They're using OLD wi-fi technology. There is literally ZERO benefits for the consumer vs a regular PSP & it costs more. Even as a gaming device the PSP go is an ABSOLUTELY fail. The LEAST they could've done was add a touchscreen or SOME type of advantage but they only care about their bottom line.
i think the first points u used were opinion i think there is a benefit i cant find a memory stick that is 16 gigs, they did not make the go to be a gaming device they made it to be a media device, they even stated this i agree with you they should have had a touch screen or two anolog sticks. and what i've heard from friends is that they love it
Its not opinion its fact. or maybe my (average sized) hands are too big. It stil sucks that during GTA that the game would cut off. And other than size. There is zero benefits vs a regular psp. as a personal opinion, ipod touch got more in terms of functionality and features, but sony has a really pure sound. I love listening to music with sony mp3 players, but with ipod touch i could do a variety of different things through installing apps. if sony creates a sony store, something similar to their Playstation Store put dedicated for music and a program to help download music and apps. by time and through tech development + more advertising, sony could be the biggest threat to itunes.
Just tested the sound of this device my god, really incredible audio sound quality. Test the Ipod Touch and Sony directly after each other and you'll see the choice is easy. Sound qualtiy of the Ipod really isn't that good.

Hmmmmmm. Cowon s9 seems better in sound and screen quality. But then the Cowon is made by cheap plastic besides the AMOLED drop dead gorgeous screen. But they did a poor job on the presentation, menu, everything besides the video and music formats, the screen, and the sound quality, which in my opinion better than the X series. BUT, as an overall media player, x series wins.

i have the sennhesier cx300 and i can tell u taht the frequency response is very very flat, that midbass i also found weak, but only with the sony headphones, that tell u it is not the walkman that has weak mid bass but the headphones that it came with .
Yes you can watch movies on the X, and they look great on that AMOLED screen. The tool I normally use is DoubleTwist, which simply converts the move into a format suitable for the X.

The Samsung M1 is a mobile phone, available here in the UK on Vodafone. So at least try and get things right, if you're going to start quoting model numbers.
Sony on their site say always say OLED, that's their policy. Even the expensive XEL-1 11inch AMOLED TV set.
And I know what you're talking about with the crappy OLED of the Zen V plus because I've also owned one in the past. The one on the X is just larger and higher quality.
Just because it's big and looks good doesn't mean it's AMOLED. AMOLED is a completely different technology.
Just wave the device rapidly in front of your eyes. If you see it like strobing or refreshing, then it's just OLED. If it appears solid with no strobing then its Active Matrix, so no refreshing will be visible.
And BTW I do have a Walkman X right in front of me now, not just reading from Sony's web site.
You do know what the difference in the technologies?
Active Matrix means NO refresh rate at all. Due to the fact that all the pixels are switched individually within the display itself by transistors, one for each pixel. This is how just about all larger screen OLEDs are done now, including the Zune HD.

It all come down to this, if you like to have a SUPERB sound QUALITY then go with Sony. If you like your mp3 player to do ANYTHING that you can think of then go with ZUNE HD! Hey, noise cancelling is a pretty big feature that sony has it built in. Rather than buying expensive earphones.

Does anyone actually know whether this is out in the UK yet? I've tried like hundreds of catalogues and they all say out of stock. I wasn't too sure if they haven't recieved them yet, or its just a coincidence that they're all bought out.

it's been out for a while now, but if i were you id just wait till they release the next generation mp3/4 because they normally bring out a new product every year or so! ive got the nwza828k! pretty nice but 8 months later & they bring out this! :) try ebay

I was so disappointed with the Walkman X series, it's ok for music, but for web browsing or YouTube it's a joke. I recommend the iPod touch, it's just a much better device.

now i own SE X-series 32gb and my current phone is an ordinary phone :)

as a personal opinion, ipod touch got more in terms of functionality and features, but sony has a really pure sound. I love listening to music with sony mp3 players, but with ipod touch i could do a variety of different things through installing apps. if sony creates a sony store, something similar to their Playstation Store put dedicated for music and a program to help download music and apps. by time and through tech development + more advertising, sony could be the biggest threat to itunes.

Just tested the sound of this device my god, really incredible audio sound quality. Test the Ipod Touch and Sony directly after each other and you'll see the choice is easy. Sound qualtiy of the Ipod really isn't that good.

I have the latest ipod touch and also sony walkman x series (32GB), and sony wins hands down. ipod touch's sound quality is nothing compared to sony's. i think built in digital noise-cancelling is far more original than any of ipod touch's features.

Hmmmmmm. Cowon s9 seems better in sound and screen quality. But then the Cowon is made by cheap plastic besides the AMOLED drop dead gorgeous screen. But they did a poor job on the presentation, menu, everything besides the video and music formats, the screen, and the sound quality, which in my opinion better than the X series. BUT, as an overall media player, x series wins.

If you want Bluetooth then get a Walkman A series.
The Walkman X is all about providing second-to-non sound quality in a PMP.
Great sound quality is something A2DP Bluetooth does not provide.

how do u think u can get good sound?BY CONVERTING IT to another format or a higher bitrate not by the player itself. maybe by the equalizer you can but thats it. research first before saying that the audio players affect the sound

I am torn between the 16 GB touch and this. The one thing about the touch though why I might get it over this is the games plus apps. Otherwise Sony Walkmans far surpass ipods in product and sound quality.

Yeah dude, this sony sucks compared to the touch. it has the layered touch screen compared to the touch with the flat screen. and the touch's screen is much more accurate in 'touch' wise

Great player with some major bads:
-Midbass at 200-400 sounds weakly, (and poorly compensated with bass)
-really Warning: the coating in headphones wires is Very weak and starts cracking fast.
-no recording from radio! :(
-No recording voice!
-radio cracks easily

i have the sennhesier cx300 and i can tell u taht the frequency response is very very flat, that midbass i also found weak, but only with the sony headphones, that tell u it is not the walkman that has weak mid bass but the headphones that it came with .

Yes you can watch movies on the X, and they look great on that AMOLED screen. The tool I normally use is DoubleTwist, which simply converts the move into a format suitable for the X.

The Walkman X most definitely is Active Matrix OLED(AMOLED). The older Creative Zen V Plus I've also got, now that is just OLED.
BTW the Samsung M1 is a mobile phone. So why even mention it? There are few phones which have AMOLED screens now.

The M1 is not a phone. It's a Tegra based media player.
And Sony, on their own Sony Style website, has is definitively stated in their specifications, that it is OLED.

The Samsung M1 is a mobile phone, available here in the UK on Vodafone. So at least try and get things right, if you're going to start quoting model numbers.
Sony on their site say always say OLED, that's their policy. Even the expensive XEL-1 11inch AMOLED TV set.

Just because it's big and looks good doesn't mean it's AMOLED. AMOLED is a completely different technology.

There is a very easy way to tell the difference.
Just wave the device rapidly in front of your eyes. If you see it like strobing or refreshing, then it's just OLED. If it appears solid with no strobing then its Active Matrix, so no refreshing will be visible.
And BTW I do have a Walkman X right in front of me now, not just reading from Sony's web site.

GAH there is no easy check like that. Active Matrix does NOT mean fast refresh rate. It's just a different way of controlling each pixel.
The Sony X is just a high quality, high contrast, high color, high refresh OLED. JUST LIKE THE ZUNE HD.

Active Matrix means NO refresh rate at all. Due to the fact that all the pixels are switched individually within the display itself by transistors, one for each pixel. This is how just about all larger screen OLEDs are done now, including the Zune HD.

It all come down to this, if you like to have a SUPERB sound QUALITY then go with Sony. If you like your mp3 player to do ANYTHING that you can think of then go with ZUNE HD! Me personally, I care about the sound a lot more then apps. Since face it, statistics shows that people that wants a mp3 player tend to focus more on listening to music as oppose to using pointless apps. Hey, noise cancelling is a pretty big feature that sony has it built in. Rather than buying expensive earphones.
